We need a bank account though - does anyone (AnW's perhaps?) know about setting up community accounts and the hoops that need to be gone through?

I'm treasurer for 3 charity accounts ;) You'll need to set up a charity Account with the bank, and usually have 2 signatures needed for each cheque (and other instructions to the bank, such as Direct Debits). You need to minute that the committee has agreed to open an account and who the sigs aill be. We have about 4 or 5 people who are able to sign cheques, though in practice it's usually me and one other, as they live close and I can get hold of them ;) People who the treasurer never sees apart from at meetings rarely sign cheques IME, so select other signatories carefully :D PM me if you'd like more help.

thanks for keeping us up with the weather btw  DH is doing it too  He is your long lost twin :p :rotfl:

I'm really struggling too. All the stuff is off the floor and in piles on the bed but I can't decide what to do with it. There is too much to put away (that's why it was on the floor) and I seem incapable of making any decisions. Feeling really depressed have had tea and biscuits and now feel fat and depressed. Maybe I should do yours Jo and you could do mine! I'm sure we could be more rational about each others mess.

JillD - Agree with all comments. We went about 10 years ago when they were 7 and 9. 7 year old was still a wee bit short for some of the rides so I would wait til youngest is older. Agree with Carsberggal that Clearwater is fab. Biggest disappointment for us was Discovery Cove inasmuchas son was much to young to enjoy it. Whereas the rest of us loved every moment you could see how cold he was and not old enough to understand - watching the video now still makes me PMSL at the expressions on his face :rotfl:

Oh and congratulations on the clear credit cards

I feel incredibly crap today... like the day after you've had a bad tummy bug and your stomach feels hungry and full of air, lightheaded and having dizzy spells.. and you don't care if you never eat again.. thing is.. I have eaten.. proper food and everything and I am just feeling crappy still.. it fades for a while after eating then comes back.. and I am tired.. so incredibly unbelievably tired.. I am sleeping maybe 14 hours a day!!! Think I may just have to feed the children and go back to bed! Or, in view of the fact that is where I have been all week, maybe that shold be COME back to bed.. oh.. and my tonsils are off again.. left one is bad.

There is definitely something amiss here.. as a result.. my landing is still unpainted and the kitchen paint is under the stairs.. ditto the paint for the boys room!

JillD - mine were 7, 8 and 10 when we went to florida for 2 weeks and they were absolutely knackered - so was I!!!! Best if you do still want to go is to do the 2 part holiday like we did. Have a week doing disney, universal and seaworld then go to the coast for a week of relaxing. Otherwise you all need a holiday when you come back! Can recommend Clearwater on the gulf coast, lovely, laid back and within driving (if you can be ar£ed!) to visit other areas around

Thats exactly what we did with my parents, a week at Disney then a week further down the coast in Sarasota relaxing on the beach and shopping.

Now we are back on an even keel moneywise we have decided to try and save up to take the children to Florida either next year (when they will be 7,6,3) or the year after (when they will be (8,7,4) depending on how much we can save. We already save our child benefit every month and are hoping to match that by cutting back and doing stuff like mystery shopping, ebay etc.[/LEFT]

I may just disagree with everyone else - but we have been to WDW a lot with and without DS, and are really lucky to own a little piece of WDW. His first really great time - he was 4 - but we only did Disney and didn't bother with anything else. He's now 7, been a couple of times since, but still talks about that first trip. Disney is far more than rides - its the dream, the Castle, the characters, shows, parades, music - that Tinkerbell waved to me as she flew over, that Mickey blew me a kiss, the ride on the trolley bus up Main St, the monorail system, the boats across the seven seas lake, the buses (wildly exciting for some reason), the kiddiecare place, the two hours being a pirate, the fireworks and being allowed to stay up late etc

Stay on Disney property, use their transportation, and have plenty of time out chilling by the pool/playing in the sand etc and its a memory for life. There are loads of great books and websites - half the fun of Disney is the planning!
Happy to talk whenever about Disneyworld - its a place we adore - can you tell?

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

    :hello::snow_grin

    Evening!

Very cold here brrr! so cold in fact that our pesky condensing boiler packed in again! most of the day has been spent taking a hairdryer to the vent pipe (which is outside the airing cupboard! dh had to take a ladder outside and stand on the flat roof of the extension) We are warm again for now and today I popped into Argos for their value ceramic fan heater down from £18.99 to £14.99 and got the last one!!! If the boiler goes in the night we will as least have the fan heater to take the chill off us.

I am not going to get a star just yet but am amazed at what I have achieved!

Tuesday ~ Master bedroom and landing!
    Level One
[STRIKE]Strip wash and replace the bedding!
Declutter the floor.. laundry gone, shoes gone.. etc
    [/STRIKE]

    Level Two
[STRIKE]Clear a box of stuff from the landing.
    [/STRIKE]
    Vacuum and turn the mattress
    [STRIKE]Vacuum the floors
    [/STRIKE]
    Level Three
Tidy a chest of drawers/wardrobe.. is there anything past its best that can go live elsewhere?
Clear and tidy the top of a wardrobe/COD and replace only what is necessary.. surely you don't need it all!?
[STRIKE]Wash curtains/blinds that are in need.[/STRIKE] vacuumed as yesterday. Didn't want to put anything extra into the wash today as getting it dry is a problem.

    Extras
    1. Wash windows
    2. [STRIKE] Dust and deweb[/STRIKE]
    3. [STRIKE] Shine 2 lightshades![/STRIKE]
    4. Straighten a shelf of books or ornaments..
Also did 2 washloads and they are just about dry (on radiators now they are working)

1 hours ironing (that mountain is finally shrinking):j

Made a batch of spicy lentil soup in the slow cooker.

Also made a red onion and olive foccacia loaf in the remoska

A granary loaf is doing its thing in the breadmaker so haven't felt the need to panic and rush out to do a food shop.

Off to check out and catch up on the thread as this is the first time I have managed to get near the computer! Stay warm everyone if you can and take care!

  • Hi everyone

We were sent home early cos of the snow and I fell asleep. AF has arrived BIG style and I feel very drained. Had a quick nap and thought I would feel better but don't, so will do some dishes, wipe the surfaces in the kitchen and then go back to bed.

Really hope work is shut again tomorrow, perhaps I can catch up then.

    Take care all

    1 step
If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
    I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome! :p

The second community meeting was also successful and we are going ahead with plans for an event in the park in June. We need a bank account though - does anyone (AnW's perhaps?) know about setting up community accounts and the hoops that need to be gone through?

Right, just going to say hello to Gordon and then think about dinner. Stay safe out there ladies.
Had to do this last year.. LLyods TSB were the easiest to deal with, but you are best starting somewhere where one of you has an account.

All signatories may have to go and present id.

Just a reminder to everyone who wasn't paying attention last time I mentioned it... this is why you need to lag the condensate pipe from your boiler!!! You can use ordinary pipe lagging, but if it needs doing now, then bubble wrap, loft insulation covered with polythene bags or even old towels covered with polythene will do.

I really am going to go and do something useful now :D
