We are expecting to be in work on those days and it is out of our hands whether or not the school gets closed. (Though headteachers do it reluctantly, as it reflects on them and the school).
We have an agenda item for the next governors' meeting to discuss planning for future disruption due to weather.
Toots - I hope your treatment has been successful, and you haven't spent too much time catching up on the thread. With people snowed in there's been a lot more chat than usual, and New Year is always going to be a busy time. As far as the stars go, I suggest that if people don't highlight them in their posts for you, as requested, they simply aren't awarded - you have to do the lists AND shout about it to qualify. Hopefully this would save you a bit of work.
As far as chat goes, maybe a reminder in the first posts about the need to keep the thread on topic - chat only allowed with flying, details of the chat thread/FB group/Yahoo group. And for those who aren't on FB and Yahoo - its your choice whether to join (as it is to join MSE). If you don't want to join under you own name (I know that teachers are in particularly need of FB anonymity!) then you can join using your MSE user ID or similar.
I have achieved very little today other than online shopping and reading the sunday newspaper, but don't feel particularly guilty about it! I'm sure the piles of paper on my desk with compost down eventually...0 -
Toots - I've finished master bedroom day but don't think I'll make the full house - I'll see after dinner. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Don't get stressed Toots honey about the thread - you were missed when not on here. It has been moving too fast for me to keep up with for the past few weeks too.
Flying wise I nipped to get some dog food and petrol, called in at Sainsbugs for a few bits - hardly anything left on the shelves and returned home to a massive mess made by the dog out of both ends after he helped himself to a layer of chocolates this morning all eaten with no mess or evidence apart from an empty tray. Flying - another massive clean up in the kitchen required and another 3 WM
So that is it from me this week, off for a lamb casserole and dumpling tea then I'll see you all on the new thread xfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

I didnt sleep at all well last night and was very upset......so
Thats exactly how i feel MrsChaos but as I am in the minority it seems I will have to find a way round it.
I would however like to point out that I was not asking for the debt reviewing type task to become a regular item.......
I was asking for a reminder .....but its probably my fault for not expressing myself clearly as usual that has caused the confusion......pigpen sometimes has things on the extras list like reviewing spreadsheets, apply for tax credits, do tax returns - where would the harm be in having review any debt payments - the extras are just that ...extras and if they dont apply then you dont have to do them - its just the same as getting school bags ready for school after holidays - it has nothing to do with making out houses look nice but is a very important item for a lot of you.
To be honest I think that in extra a little reminder to sort of finances would be a good idea HHF. As much as all of us would love for finance not to be important to us it generally is.
just because some of the flyers dont have jobs, husbands, children, spare rooms, utility rooms, gardens, pets, conservatories, debts, cars, holidays it doesnt make them any less of a flylady - we just have to ignore /delete the items that dont apply to us:j
-and some of us are not lucky enough to have no money worries beacause of our own stupidity of getting into debt ( and I refer to myself here) or through sheer hardship at home.
being in debt or having next to no money has a very big bearing on how we feel about our homes and how we look after it - its a vicious circle because you cant afford to make it better without money so you get down and then when you are down you dont want to fly so I think the occassional 'extra' to remind those of us who need to look at our finances would not be asking too much.-- completely agree. My kitchen is not how I wish it too be but I am trying my best to get it looking as good as I can (although haven't really been doing it for a while(will put it on my list of 5))
I am shooting myself in the foot now by higlighting these first 2 quotes but I dont think the idea of adding in a hobby is part of housework IMHO - I am all for hobbies and crafts and there are loads of threads relating to this - in my mind the whole idea of the thread is to get the house organised and tidier so that we have the time to go and do these things. I for one would not enjoy doing a hobby if it is was on the list and I still had housework that needed doing but I know quite a few people on the thread who would rather sit and do their hobby rather than housework. perhaps the 'me-time' that pigpen sometimes gives us could be suggested as relaxation time and we do craft, hobby, facial, nails, hair or whatever we fancy - maybe an hour would be more suitable and as an extra - but not every week - I do not feel that HHK (half hour knitting) as was previously suggested is part and parcel of housework.
having looked at my own personal lists I see that a lot of things are not flying related as set out in pigpen's first few lines of welcome which I will now find another way of dealing with - it will save you all moaning about my lists -it did help me to have my own weekly list there in front of me but I will just do it on paper now I think.please keep your list. If it helps you
mind you a huge percentage of you never read them or you would have noticed that I was away last week.I was in hospital for pre-arranged treatment for my muscles from last tuesday - I got home today. The treatment went easier than usual - it was slightly different so I will see how this week goes and if it has made any difference.I will be honest that I do not always read the lists but then I am sure that many don't read mine and I am fine with that as they help me. I am glad that your treatment was easier this time and hope that it continues this way.
ok I am off to catch up on the rest of the thread
toots xx
I think the problem is trying to please everyone . It can't be done but feel that if we put things like an HHF on the extras then people can decide whether thy wish to/need to do it.
Anyway need to go as DS and DD are arguing AGAIN!January Grocery 11/3740 -
am i too late to join in with this, my house is a terrible mess and i can't motivate myself, my new years resolution was to try to sort myself and cleaning out, this seems really helpful0

Jo I wont stop posting but it will only be flying related
Penny - i cant cope with another thread - I cant multitask!!! - its hard enough having 2 ID's and having to log in and out to do stars that i sometimes get confused as to who i am!!!:rotfl:- nice thought - I have popped over there and lurked but didnt find it very friendly to people who tried to post if you werent known or if you werent a part of what was being discussed they just seemed to ignore you - will send you a pm when I change 'hats'!!

Toots, I know for one I am guilty of reposting my list:o I will try to only do it when I have done a day, other than that I will edit my posts:A
We are know how hard you work to do the stars,:T and ANYTHING that makes it easier for you I am wiling to do :kisses3:
I think PenPen's suggestion about using the daily chat is a great idea:T:T leaving this thread, as it so busy just now:eek:, for listing:A
I am giving up on flying this week, although I do feel much better than I did earlier:D:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
greenbee staff parking was given as a reason for school closure round here, they were told by governors to open and staff should make other arrangements to either get in or park or bring shovels. Harsh? Suppose it's the same as other staff elsewhere were expected to. There was snow clearance ordered by DS1s school to deal with it but too late really, they are saying caretaker should have ordered it earlier/salted which is bringing it's own arguements about who's paid to do what & when, nightmare. I know they were clearing the local senior schools at 5.30am & they opened so some are coping better than others. Staff were told in many to come in regardless of closure to snow clear so they are arguing it is not their job. Clearly a massive issue with few easy solutions. Canada copes better than us, my aunty is a teacher there, she works 20 miles from home but if she can't get in she walks to the local one & teaches there. Much more sensible approach.
Oh toots how careless, bet you are cross, is it insured?
Got boys clothes ready incase school is on, left my number with school answering machine incase anyones said they can't get in & I am passing where they are.
PRICE HEADS UP - Our Sainsburys are selling off Omega 3 16 pack Fish Fingers (Birds Eye) for 50p, there is another type on offer for £1 for less fish fingers, not something I usually buy but got Mam to get me 4 packs, for 50p I ain't moaningOne day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
