PS - feel as though one of the daily tasks should be keeping up with this thread
Friend has been and delivered my walking poles, shopping bags and biscuit tin back... and also brought me my birthday present - a pair of gaitersso I have no excuses for not going out in the snow again (apart from the fact that it's getting cold and dark now, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow). It's a pity, as my step count today is abysmal. I think I'd better switch the heating on now, so I can do some of the things that need doing rather than reading the paper

Greenbee, forgot to say but I have some lovely thermal trousers (got 3 pairs and I'm living in them at the moment!) - they're all Craghoppers; I have 1 pair of Kiwi winter lined and 2 pairs of Pika winter lined and they come in long length too (essential for me cos I'm tall!). I prefer the Pika as they're cut lower and have more pockets. I think I'm right in saying they're on sale in the Craghoppers website for £22.50 each. Just thought you'd be interested.
ooooh, I'll definitely go and look for some of those! Need to see how well my size 14 craghoppers fit or whether to get a 16. I will need to shorten them  even short are too long!kazmeister wrote: »
Have manged a trek down to aldi today to get essentials for this week - only NO MILK and that was at 11 - they'd only been open an hour. Still I have 1 in the freezer. Really pleased as I only spent £16, if it had been a usual weekend and I'd taken the car to either there or Mr T it would have been anywhere between £40 and £80. So if you want to keep your grocery shopping down - WALK
I am struggling to keep up with the thread (being nosey I hate skimming) but skimming is becoming the norm here at the moment.
Can I make a suggestion?
To try and keep posts a bit shorter how about people deleting things from the list once they are done, then we don't have reams and reams of the same list with different bits crossed out. It will be easier to see which bits people are leaving til last, could be that they are more time consuming or some of the less popular jobs.
Also with the sheer volume of posts we need to make it easier for toots to spot when stars are required so a reminder for all to post in bold and red when a particular day is complete.

I have done quite a lot more on my list and DH is doing some as we speak so I'll get deletingMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

We are a friendly bunch and the support here is second to none but I am concerned that it is getting diluted by the number of posts and newbies will be frightened away by the size of the thread.
If we can all try to make sure there is some flying mentioned in each post (keeping chat for the weekend) then there is no harm in tacking on our jubilations, commiserations, rants or other news we want to share.
Agreed - maybe we need some instructions on thread etiquette in the first few posts as a reminder to older flyers as well as to help new ones!
A reminder about the multi-quote facility would also be useful, and also letting people know that they can edit the posts that they quote so that only the bit they need is included in them.
OK... I really am off this time...0 -

I am seriously considering revising the welcome pm as although a percentage really appreciate it I think it could be handled better.

Froddy sorry wasn't saying you would think it shouldn't happen, sorry if that is the way it came across. I was more commenting on systems & suggestions for change. Another suggestion was to make summer hols shorter and Christmas longer but there was bad snow in February last year. I do wonder if after the cold spell goes it'll just be forgotten again & not discussed. We volunteered to help clear DS1s school but they refused for H&S reasons which I thought was a bit silly. Hope you get plenty of helpers.
We now have curtains at the back door, DP put them up as soon as he got in rather than waiting for the others to arrive. We've got these https://www.dunelm-mill.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10551&catalogId=11100&productId=47874&summaryOnly=true&bct=basket then shorter ones ordered for the window next to the door & 2 in the living room. Across the dining room window/door they will match as the top decorated piece stays the same. Must remember to get some form of tie backs, I thought they would have been included. I am more shock that he agreed to them as they have flowers and sequins on, never been known :rotfl:
Well every forecast here is different, brilliant may aswell not bother looking at them.
Poohbear pleased you managed to get out, well done that farmer!!One day I might be more organised...........

Upset flylady here....
I didnt sleep at all well last night and was very upset......soI need to look into this, too. I don't really have the time to get involved in more than one thread, and I value this one too much to give it up. Also, I've often disliked the tone of posts on other boards.
I would however like to point out that I was not asking for the debt reviewing type task to become a regular item.......toottifrootti wrote: »piggers thats brilliant:T:T you are the best debt buster I know - an real inspiration - maybe you should put something on the lists each month about reviewing debt payments or something just to keep us that have debts looking at them and trying to find ways of getting them down - ooooooooooooooooooooooh I have just found something else to add to my list - i will have a personal challenge to pay of a debt using ebay
just because some of the flyers dont have jobs, husbands, children, spare rooms, utility rooms, gardens, pets, conservatories, debts, cars, holidays it doesnt make them any less of a flylady - we just have to ignore /delete the items that dont apply to us
-and some of us are not lucky enough to have no money worries beacause of our own stupidity of getting into debt ( and I refer to myself here) or through sheer hardship at home.
being in debt or having next to no money has a very big bearing on how we feel about our homes and how we look after it - its a vicious circle because you cant afford to make it better without money so you get down and then when you are down you dont want to fly so I think the occassional 'extra' to remind those of us who need to look at our finances would not be asking too much.In many ways, in my view, this is an escapist thread. It allows us to concentrate on our homes and making them nice for ourselves and our families, if we have any, regardless of any financial miseries we may or may not have. I personally would like to keep it that way.Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!IHow about.. trying a new hobby or refinding the love of an old one? Is that too off-topic? Learning about something new? research, knitting, sewing, dance.. whatever.. just something individual. I would like to get back into knitting tbh, I've done very little since Tiddles was about 2 and I really enjoyed doing my yuletide gnome.
I am shooting myself in the foot now by higlighting these first 2 quotes but I dont think the idea of adding in a hobby is part of housework IMHO - I am all for hobbies and crafts and there are loads of threads relating to this - in my mind the whole idea of the thread is to get the house organised and tidier so that we have the time to go and do these things. I for one would not enjoy doing a hobby if it is was on the list and I still had housework that needed doing but I know quite a few people on the thread who would rather sit and do their hobby rather than housework. perhaps the 'me-time' that pigpen sometimes gives us could be suggested as relaxation time and we do craft, hobby, facial, nails, hair or whatever we fancy - maybe an hour would be more suitable and as an extra - but not every week - I do not feel that HHK (half hour knitting) as was previously suggested is part and parcel of housework.
having looked at my own personal lists I see that a lot of things are not flying related as set out in pigpen's first few lines of welcome which I will now find another way of dealing with - it will save you all moaning about my lists -it did help me to have my own weekly list there in front of me but I will just do it on paper now I think.
mind you a huge percentage of you never read them or you would have noticed that I was away last week.I was in hospital for pre-arranged treatment for my muscles from last tuesday - I got home today. The treatment went easier than usual - it was slightly different so I will see how this week goes and if it has made any difference.
ok I am off to catch up on the rest of the thread
