lil_me - the bits that lift off are ok. It's basically that no gas is coming out of the actual unit on that burner. BUT i boiled over chilli jam and it's all in there (done my best to clean it out) so I'm thinking that the sugary stuff has gummed it up...does that make sense?

rach - In which case I'd dig it out with a spoon, then whatever else will get the gunk out like the end of a knife etc, then hot water....then tooth pick into the little valve the gas comes out of
One day I might be more organised...........

Just read my stars for today

    Hello Msgnomey !
    Your Sun Sign: Aries
    Date of birth:
Your daily horoscope for 8 January 2010
You take great pleasure in having a neat and organized house, Cathryn. In your mind, cleanliness really is next to godliness. Today, you may find yourself dismayed by how run-down you have allowed your home to become. It's time for some clearing out, scouring and scrubbing! Do this yourself, rather than having hired help. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much it will help you to clear your head.

    Thursday - spare room
    DONE :D:D:D:D
and of course now no one is coming to stay

    Extra Task List
    1. Find 5 things to ebay/freecycle
    2. Wipe the radiators, skirtings and window & door frames!

Friday - Bathroom and Study/Pc Area
    Level One

    Level Two

    Clear any clutter from desk
Dust PC and desk and wipe off those cup rings!!
Wipe keyboard, house phone, sockets, switches and mouse etc
    Level Three

    Extras
    1. Wipe the skirtings, door in these rooms
    2. If you have a shelf.. empty and clean it - one done, one to go in the bathroom... 5 plus a huge bookshelf in the study  Maybe one a week...
Apart from the study and the utility room, the house is finally back to normal after being allowed to get into a somewhat chaotic state since I started work again... hopefully it will now stay this way - and once I've got the new shed installed, the utility room should be much less cluttered (I'm hoping this will help the study, although I'm not sure how!)

Off to make hot water bottles and potter in the kitchen. If I get up early enough I'll have a quick go at the kitchen floor, but I may not manage it...

ETA - pigpen - things to add to lists - checking and clearing drains; clearing plugholes/waste pipes (I bung bicarb/cream of tartar/salt down them, but there are lots of other things e.g. bicarb & vinegar) to make sure they don't get blocked; cleaning out the wheelie bin because it can get stinky; dusting lightbulbs - makes a huge difference to the amount of light you get from them!

have done the spoon bit, think what's left is burnt on (why I was asking about steam cleaners!!) but yes I think it's going to take a bit of elbow grease....

might get DH onto it :rotfl::rotfl:

No fly day today - too down in the grumps for no specific reason.

Went to docs this morning in the blizzard for blood tests and walked back via Matalan and Mr M. Decluttered too much money on underwear again - hate clothes buying but cant stop buying undies . Slept all afternooon until DD came in from school - must have been only school in the town open but well done to them. DH hacked off that I didnt cook a 'tea' for DD (DS gone to his dads) but she had chosen what she wanted!
Dug out grannies old sewing machine in an attempt to show DD how to use it to make stuff but eventually found theres a little bit missing that affects the tension so plans scuppered after a few hours. Will try and see if I can get a part tomorrow but difficult on a 1920's machine. Spoke to mum about it who says if I cant get it I can have its 'twin' as she has just inherited another 1920's one from my gran :rotfl:. DD and I will declutter some of this fabric mountain I have !!!

Will try and be a better flylady tomorrow :o

ETA meant to say Well done Dusty for reporting the hooligans
JoJo - hugs and positive vibes
ajmoney - sorry it was such a bad day. Hope Monday is better, can you not stay down until Wed to ensure you are there?

There was more but once again I've forgotten. Hugs to all xx

Rach.. I am terribly safety conscious.. I would remove the removable bits.. fling in sink with boiling water and WUL. Then.... I'd light the burner.. if there is the tiniest trickle of gas coming out it will light and so should burn off any sticky residue.. if it doesn't light at all it is most likely you'll need a new tiny tubey thing the gas comes out of.. they usually just screw on and off.. some people would get a gas fitter to do it.. I wouldn't.. Just take apar what you can see and clean it.. so long as you make sure it is all attached firmly it'll be ok.. well.. it should be.. in theory...

Decluttered a bowl of noodles.. hey.. it wasn't ice cream.. it is almost food.. :p

oh.. I did a novel thing earlier.. I, as in me, unloaded and reloaded the DW.. only because I needed plates for dinner but I did it.. and i refilled the rinse aid AND I wiped the table.. and cleaned one of the oven trays from *mumbles 'christmas dinner'*

Talking about food or almost food, today I had porridge for breakfast, flapjacks for morning snack, flapjack for lunch, flapjack for afternoon snack, flapjack for tea and flapjack for supper - is that bad!

Sorry I've been awol today - fighting off black dog caused by money worries (rent is due in 8 days and other bills are clamouring to be paid and we have no money whatsoever) and so have done no flying. Spent the day quietly with DH.

Apologies if this is out of date as I am about a million pages behind with the thread!

oooh I am ALL GROWN UP

I know this because I now have a proper button TIN like my mother and her mother before her - except mine's square, theirs were round (as opposed to a choc-full plastic vitalite box and an equally choc-full meds box dated 1984 which was my Great-Aunt's) with buttons and, more importantly, room to scuffle them around with my fingers while I look for buttons - and remember the hours I played, as a child, with the aforementioned button tins,
Some of the buttons I have in there are OLDER THAN ME!

Decluttered two plastic containers there, one of which will be reused!
I have a button box but now I really want a tin! That sounds much nicer!
    Hi everyone

    Hi flyladies,

I am not really posting today yet but wanted to send love and hugs to everyone who needs one especially LadyL and toots and Rose and of course Jinkypinks.

Tris is not so well and my cat Treacle had a fit about an hour ago so I am a little preoccupied.

I will come back later if I can.

I hope you all stay warm and safe in this bitter weather.

    Diva.x
    Big hugs sweetheart xx

Pigpen I’m glad you know what’s wrong now and that it’s something you can manage

Hugs Helen you sound really stressed

JoeyJimbles wow you have done amazingly well! 3 bathrooms! I can hardly manage to clean our tiny one so for you to clean 3 in one day is incredible!

Hugs Jojo hope you can see a doc soon. PS which one of the Hairy Bikers is supposed to be good looking? They are both mingers IMHO. Hugs about your daughter too

Dorastar I hope you are ok after your fall

    Welcome TheDuchessHavoc and Jarus

Carol could you point me to the declutter thread please? I love your list!

Diva love and hugs, I hope Tristan and your cat are both ok xx

Lala I’m so pleased that your manager is being so good and that they are dealing with the temp manager re the whistleblowing incident. I hope your cold is better soon

Dusty well done reporting the facebook page about snowballing – what horrible kids.

Serena I hope your colleague’s ankle mends quickly. This is a good time to remind everyone to wear walking boots with proper ankle support when you go out – when we went out on Wednesday I nearly turned my ankle several times because my boots did not have ankle support

Mumofjusttwo you are really kind to offer that delivery man a cuppa

    Lots of love to LadyLiberty
