But that wouldn't help people like me who have more in their recycling bin that their other bin ;) Definitely recycle more... and compost... and freegle... and don't buy stuff with silly amounts of packaging...

Haha sorry I never thought of that! However our green bin is for garden waste only- they won't take food or kitchen waste????? Not sure who'll be gardening in this weather? x

Koolkid - what I do at Christmas when the bin collections are up the creek is to triple sort - recycling, non-recycling but not likely to go off (like iffy plastics, silver foil etc) then stuff likely to go mouldy or eaten by foxes. The last is what gets put in the bin, the middle one gets put beside the bin and the recycling is, um, put in the recycling bin.

I did the same thing - four different bins:
    • normal recycling
    • glass (not collected here, so has to be taken to the bottle bank, and quite a lot happens at Christmas :p)
    • non-food/washed out non-recycling rubbish
    • food waste
We managed to get through three-an-a-half weeks without a collection, with nine people in a house that normally has two!

I'm trying to stay disciplined with it now, as we'll now be going the same time without a collection of the recycling bin due to the snow.

I'm new to the Flylady thread, but this is my second week and I'm finding it's really helping me stay organised and on top of the cleaning, so thank everyone. :T:T:T
