But rural areas don't get gritted so are virtually impassable in some places.. inner city schools have no excuse.. the main roads are clear. Our head lives 35 miles out of town.. she managed, unfortunately.. but we have had less of the sn** stuff than most other places.

we have this 'discussion' every year.. and I still think you should have to live within a certain distance of your place of employment.. unless it is a nuclear power plant :p
Its only a matter of time before the poor NQTs have that added to the list of beaurocracy they have to contend with! Again, rural schools, even the students live some distance by car, most of them.

Leading on from the news we saw last night, and posts I saw on here in DT ( I think) why cant teachers/support staff go to their nearest school, like the nurses and doctors have been told to do, to keep them open?
That were there would be a chance most schools could still be open
This used to be done in many counties, including Bristol. But with safeguarding being ramped up, if you have a big school running with unknown teachers, how do you know everyone there is a police-checked teacher/support staff, and so how do you keep the kids safe? Not to mention that discipline is a million times harder when you don't know the kids.

Because us loony parents would refuse to leave our children with 'strangers'

I would not be happy to leave my DD1 with some random teacher, especially as they may not be from the same phase.

Also, quite a lot of teachers have children of their own. If these children have their nurseries closed/childminders can't get in whatever, then they have to stay home to look after their own children.

I do feel your frustration, though.

    Hi everyone,

The only thing off todays list that I need to do is wipe the sofas, everything els is either done or I don't have (no plants I have a black thumb).

I must try to get on with clearing out the spare bedroom though.

Lil_me I really didn't want to stay home today just because of the snow but I had to ( I've been driving around in it for nearly 3 weeks so I've persevered lol) I didn't want to get stuck in Sunderland at 4.30 cos there's more snow forecast at 2pm. I'm not risking it just for a bit of cleaning. Our schools aren't shut though but we don't live in a rural area.

I'm on the netbook, it's weird but fun all at the same time. I can't get the bold off the above paragraph and don't know how to highlight lol

Flying bit:- I've decluttered a bag of crisps and a sarnie, and put the packet in the bin.

ETA: I changed the bold on the pc lol

Oh I am loving this site - I've been soooo motivated - can imagine you all in my head telling me what to do next - maybe a sign of madness but who cares its getting the jobs done. The tree and decs have all come down and all xmas and birthday pressies have gone away. My daughters birthday cards are still up but we keep them up for the week after a birthday so they won't come down until the weekend.

School closing after lunch so will go and get my daughter and make sure she doesn't mess up the lounge again!

I've sorted out my wardrobe and drawers and filled 2 binbags for the charity shop. Going to do the dinner in a sec then I promised the kids I'd take them up the fields with their sledges after dinner so don't know how much more I'll get done.

First, hugs to EVERYBODY who needed them yesterday. Thanks for all the hugs from you as well. I waas feeling very "me me me" yesterday, and reading through there were people who clearly had more to worry about than me!

So, being positive today, no news from the bank yet so still can't get any money out, but I'm trying not to spend so thats a good thing.
The school run took over 2 hours this morning (DS2 is in a village school that stayed open even though all the local town schools are closed!) and there are no trains so had to take DS1 into Sidcup. Not going to get much done today as its going to take just as long to pick them up. I'm having a break so I can concentrate on driving later.
I have walked the dog :jand feel generally better. I started new meds last night and got my first good nights sleep in years so I think that helps me feeling more positive.

Monday ~ Kitchen and Dining Area
Didn't manage much Monday, but walked the dog, went to counselling and got food shopping so I'm happy with that.

Tuesday ~ Master bedroom and landing!
Didn't manage anything off the list, but walked the dog, got the kids to school/college on time, and....I cooked my first ever chicken! :T Idid it in the slowcooker having read all the great posts on the sc thread, so I feel that was a real achievement for me (grew up on ready meals, trying to learn to cook!)
