    Sigh we're not talking about play.com it really doesnt matter what happens there, on play.com com they can paint giraffes pink and run naked covered in butter but in the ebay world a buyer can file for non receipt after 7 days. If you dont keep your customers happy you will get poor DSRs and negs your search visibility will decrease as will your sales you could also get suspended

    You can tell ebay customers that they have to wait for a full moon for a refund if you like but it doesn't stop them opening a claim after 7 days.

    Sensible and successful sellers realise that customer satisfaction is key. If you don't realise that your ebay selling career will be thankfully short. The introduction of DSRS insure this

    cyberbob, it was you who raised the comparison with a large seller like Amazon. You said if Amazon did this, people wouldn't be happy.

    My point is that some massive companies do practice like this, and they are far more able to take a financial hit on a lost item than most ebay sellers. Me raising an example for Play is no different to you using Amazon as an example, so your sarcasm is unwarranted and unwelcome.

    So if you refund after 7 days on item not been recieved in that time what happens if the item was just delayed due to x mas backlog or snow and turns up the day after you refund. Buyer has refund, plus item and doesn't bother telling you its turned up as you have no proof its been delivered and they already spent the money ordering something else to replace missing item which wasn't missing at all simply delayed.

    I don't understand why you expect royal mail to lose out, dispite not classing something as lost until after 15 working days. They deliver item in their set time frame, but your going to be claiming with you POP as you've refunded already.

    It doesn't really make sense to me

    Amazon don't do that though-I bought an item that was dispatched 16th, never received it and they sent replacement 2nd Jan, which I got monday. So much much less than 15 working days that RM say you have to wait.

    If I paid for something on ebay and hadn't received it yet, and seller was ignoring me saying I could only get a refund after 15 working days, I would def neg. I don't see how the people saying this have been rude at all ?

    Perhaps Im just a bit more patient than some but Ive been waiting on an item that was dispatched on 14th December and still not arrived yet. Ive contacted the seller who has ignored me so far. If I was told that refund would be given on a certain date by the seller (as the OP has done), so long as I knew that the refund was going to be given I wouldnt bother if I had to wait. Im not suggesting everyone would be like this but I would actually be pleased to have the OP's response from the seller Im dealing with. 15 days isnt exactly a long time is it?

    I think they might mean Amazon sellers/shops rather than the company itself - once had a DVD from Amazon themselves go AWOL but that was refunded within 3 days. However, when a game I bought from an Amazon shop did not arrive, I was indeed quoted 15 days for a refund, due to Royal Mail policy, blah blah. I clearly understood the reasons for this and, tbh, did not mind. Amazon itself can afford to "absorb" such costs, while I figured that the smaller guys cannot and as such I would make allowances for them. Of course, if a refund hadn't been granted after day 15 then I would have kicked off!

    This suggestion is probably far too sensible for it to ever work, but why can't Ebay UK, Paypal and the Royal Mail get together for discussions about how best to manage the impact that their services and policies have on each other? Just a thought......

    Sellers on Amazon marketplace are as mixed as those on Ebay, I sell on both and on Amazon would still not be expecting my buyers to wait 3 weeks for a refund.

    I had an email from a blummen lovely buyer today who paid in mid December and whose parcel was dispatched the same day, just letting me know that RM have let us both down, the parcel hasn't arrived, and offering to do the claim if I'm Ok with that. It's a very low value item and she's lovely, so I've refunded immediately.

    You catch more flies with honey than vinegar after all.
