Yeah, and if it wasn't for the scripters finding these cast offs for you, chances are you wouldn't get anything at all because these deals would be picked up by other people and bought immediately, instead of saved and offered to the non-scripters on the forums.

Yes, I don't denie we would also be part of the problem, but the point is things work ok as they are now, where as if a script is released they won't so as a direct consequence of db's actions everyone loses out.

Again, crap, you and adam for a start are both script users who have scurried over here attempting to put people off using the scripts.

Yes, I do now, although for all of 2004 I was buying using F5.  As far as I know Adam doesn't have a script.

The greed comes from not wanting others to get the scripts and banning all talk of them helps that oblective doesn't it ?

Whether they are banned or not it's still not going to make any difference to whether other people get them - even if disussing them is allowed no-one is going to hand theirs out and create more competition for themselves.  The reason they have been banned from the start (by admins who created the forums who don't use scripts themselves) was because they always created arguments in the dvd forums exactly like this one.  Talk of them was also banned in the dvd forums for exactly the same reasons.

There's no bleeding heart stuff there, I'm just telling you what I do.  The Dell's are a sideline for me that allows my fiancee to stop working full time and do her college course, that's all.  I'm not asking for any sympathy I'm just telling you I earn a litte extra cash on the side to help things along, and doing that isn't selfish in any way.

You don't even want members of this forum to get the scripts, and if you don't see THAT as selfish......

It's not a matter of whether I want members of a particular forum to have a srcipt or not, I have no qualms with there being plenty of competition out there - it's simple economics at the end of the day that there will always be competition in business.  As you can see from everyones attitude to each other in the outlet forums, no one has any gripes about other people having scripts.  What I don't want is the outlet to be ruined for everyone which it will be if it's hit by 100s of scripts.  It'll mean all the people that don't use scripts no longer have a chance of getting anything, where as they do with the current situation, and there's a very high chance it will mean Dell have to chance their method of sales because the web site will no longer be able to cope.  They'll probably end up with an outlet on Ebay just like they have in the US, and like HP and others do here in the UK, and that will mean no bargains for anyone.   Dell are well aware people use scripts at the moment but they know they can't do anything about it because you can always break down the code for an html page, so they aren't bothered about what is currently a small problem.  However if it becomes a big problem they will most certainly take some form of action to prevent it.

It's really quite a simple concept:  

Current situation = lots of good bargains available to everyone, few scripters get the very best ones.  

Situation if script released = 90% of outlet users lose access to any bargains, high potential for outlet as we know it to shut down altogether.

Was last summer 18 months ago?

Just for the record, I know people who have had cracking deals just about 6 months ago.

2400 for just over £100 and top of the range flying 8600 for 600 and a high spec 5150 for around 350.

Just with logging into the site, no script running.

So if thats the case what you nice script guy gettng machines for then or now and the profit....well say no more!

Er, I said the real bargains finished last summer and that is correct.

It's true that bargains can still be got compared to the prices on the main Dell site but there not much to be had for reselling purposes. Prior to last summer I was picking up machines for far less than those you quote.

I do not run a script and wouldn't have the first idea on how to write one! :-[

As an outsider reading all these posts i have to say i fully agree with everything scoob has posted.What scoob has posted is common sense,as for the guy who runs the scripts who keeps making the big long boring replies that all boil down to he is not happy cause others would like the oportunity to be able to use these scripts too.The only reason any of this started is because of the select few that used scripts and had an unfair advantage over others,that fact that we can all get the scripts now is a good thing.If hundreds of people do start using scripts and dell then change their system so that it cant be done that too will be a good thing because then we will all have an equal chance again of getting a good buy instead of a select few with their scripts as it is right now.I wont respond too any replies by the guy who is crapping himself that others will have the advatage that he currently has,any outsiders with common sense reading this thread can see who has valid points and who doesnt :-X

;D That's great, you clearly haven't even bother to read my posts!! Firstly, I'm not crapping myself about anything, I've already said I'm getting fed up of spending my weekends and evenings doing Dell stuff and don't care if it stops. And secondly, again as I've already said if Dell change their system the only way they will be able to stop scripts is by not selling on a website, ie using an Ebay outlet and then there won't be any bargains for anyone!

Anyway, I've said what I came to say, I'm not going to waaste time arguing about things, that's just my point of view. It seems most people can recognise what a negative affect on the outlet releasing a script will have, but there are always those that can't see past their own personal gain ::)

We'll see what happens if the script is released and becomes widespread, but I can guarantee you now that the situation will be worse off for the vast majority than it is now

Hmm tough one, is there actually anything wrong with it? If it's seriously faulty then you may have a case, but otherwise you're outside the 7 days allowed under the distance selling regulations so you probably wouldn't be able to.
