Er, I said the real bargains finished last summer and that is correct.

It's true that bargains can still be got compared to the prices on the main Dell site but there not much to be had for reselling purposes. Prior to last summer I was picking up machines for far less than those you quote. :)

I do not run a script and wouldn't have the first idea on how to write one! :-[

I know what youv said, you also said this thread is 18 months too late which I dont really understand.

So its true that people can get bargains....well thats the whole purpose of this site, moneySAVING, not money MAKING?

However from reading a little into it, its clear that people from the Outlet site are in it for out and out money making and of course some will be kind and some will hand down some systems they dont see as money spinner.

Please define the 'real' bargains, share with us what these amazing bargains are, I dont see you getting much better than a decent spec 2400 back in the summer for a tad over £100, talking one with decent HDD and not just a CD-Rom.

And the 8600 spec, only 5-6 months ago was 1.7Cent,1 stick of 512, 80gb, 128AGP, WUXGA, XP Pro etc etc, I would very much doubt you have been picking systems like that up for £600.......and if you have then why were they not visable on your amazing little ever so helpful outlet site?

And you are really in a position to make a judgment on the integrity of someone you've never met  ;D  Make whatever assumptions you want, doesn't bother me  ::)

If you bothered to take the time to go over to the outlet forums you'd see I spend the majority of my time helping other people find bargains, am honest and helpful and not the sort of person to waste time making up crap  ;)

Just got back after some time away this weekend to see this thread flare up!

I'd like to add a message of thanks to Ds3 on this forum as I did on the outlet bargain hunter board.

Ds3 helped me secure a fine PC for a reletive (before all this blew out of proportion) Spec below
    ********************
    Dimension 8400, Pentium 4, (3.0GHz), MiniTower
English - Win XP SP2 Home

         System Price £363.15 + Vat
Dell recommends Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional

Operating System: English - Win XP SP2 Home
English - Win XP SP2 Home (Backup Media)
            Memory: 1024MB PC-4200 DUAL CHANNEL (2X512mb)
            Floppy Drive: 1.44MB Floppy Drive
Hard Disk Drive: 160GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
            Video: 128,MB GRAPHICS X300,SE
Modem: V.92 Data Fax Modem UK
Sound Card: Creative Labs SoundBlaster® AudigyT 2 Sound Card
            CD Read-Write Drive: 16 X DVD +/- RW
Software: Paint Shop Photo Album Standard Eng
             Microsoft® Works® 7.0
AOL, Dellnet + Tiscali UK ISP Combo
             English - Adobe Reader 6.0
MISC: DMX Dell Media Experience 2.
             Dell Standard PS2 Keyboard
Dell 2 Button PS/2 Scroll Mouse
    *******************
If this is a cast off then so be it... IMO it's a damn good deal.. Sure there may not be much to be made out of it if it were to sell on Ebay... but without Ds3's offer of this system.. I'd stood little chance of getting this cracking deal..

Oh, and for any doubter of "US" out there.. I hadn't even made a post on the forum when I asked if I could have this system.. In all honesty.. looking at "OUR" Argos thread at times.. not all of us were willing to help noobies straight off (remember the posts about only getting info if you'd been regestered for so long, or so many posts).

Whether or not scripting is fair, these guys go out of thier way to help...

I'm all for grabbing a bargain but also "WE" hate it when someone (mentioning no names) boasts about grabbing 50 of something and therefore spoiling it for the rest of us... I think I've made my point.. same goes there, if you were to read the forum before making judgement here... LOTS of people get bargains by not using scripts and sometimes scripts lock up baskets etc and they lose the lot, hey... S**T happens...

Just chill guys.. bargains to be had... but let's not kill the site for EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

18 months ago hardly anyone knew about the Dell Outlet and so there were bargains for anyone and not many scripters about.
However from reading a little into it, its clear that people from the Outlet site are in it for out and out money making and of course some will be kind and some will hand down some systems they dont see as money spinner.

Nothing wrong with making money. :)

Yup, they are good prices. The point I am trying to make is that 12 months ago similar specs were being got for a lot less. You may doubt it but I know different. :) Generally speaking, system specs are normally only posted up on the Outlet Bargains Board when someone is uncertain as to whether it is a bargain or it is being offered for sale. I can't recall having ever posted details of something I had bought. What's the point? ???

Finally, I assume you forgot the smilie next to your last remark. ::) The Outlet Bargain Board is a really friendly site - much more so than here from what I have seen.

I bought a system from the outlet over 3 years ago now and I know others who have used the site back then, so from what you are saying we must be in the minority, however I would imagine plenty others were using it.

Your right there is nothing wrong with making money but there is something wrong with going all defensive and exagerating how helpful everyone on the site is, or at least covering that point over and over, but in the same breath forgetting to mention that some are out and out money makers.

Ok maybe I missed my smiley but I dont really do smileys and the like, but just for you :)

Now I assume you forgot to answer my last 'remark' which was a question?? ??? :):):)

12 months ago...a lot less, please define, especially a lot less that a tad over £100 for a pretty decent 2400?

So its not only the scripts the site wants to protect, its the prices of the machine.

As for friendly, I am not so sure, on this site if someone gets something at say £99 when it is worth about £199, they are upfront about it, its not like secret service.

The list goes on, like said had a look at the board and making fun of someone on here who did not know what using F5 means...

Regards to the bargains basically what you are saying is this :

Person with limited knowledge in the subject wants to know if its worth buying.....fair enough just like the person who doesnt know what F5 is for.....so do I post on site saying 'See some pleb on Outlet bargains he is asking if this system is a bargain, ha ha cant believe it'

    Thats friendly!

So you dont post what you buy, nothing wrong with making money? Proud of that, sure it wont hurt you to share this info then?

So the point of posting your bargains...well Im interested and since you are a nice message board, ever so friendly an all that surely that wont be a problem for you, its not as if I am asking for scripts.

I dont really care to be honest regarding bargains day in day out, week in week out but would like a sensible reply to the last 'remark' all the same.

Not polititan style...back up your claim since you 'know' different.
