  • g'day all :)

so...after my initial loss of 6.25lbs in my first week, i have gained 2lbs back this week :(

however i am told that this is quite common by people in the training/dieting profession. apparently people tend to overeat in the week before they start a diet and then lose lots of weight in the first week due to the drop in calories eaten. then, in the second week, the body goes into storage mode thinking that it's being starved, but by the third week it should have adapted to the new eating regime and the loss should begin again - but this time more slowly.

this makes sense to me, so i'm trying not to be too disheartened. i'm doing everything right, goddammit, and not cheating, so all i can do is continue and hope that my perseverance pays off.

since i started my new regime i have now lost 4.25lbs in total, which is just over 2lbs per week and keeps me on target for 23.75lbs before 30/4/11. i'll just have to be happy with that at this stage.

i did the Shred DVD for the first time in about 5 months last night and, although bl00dy hard, it wasn't AS hard as i'd been worried it would be. my thighs know i've done it today though, and i am guessing i'll need help down stairs tomorrow :rotfl:

    onwards!

I need to sit and have a bit of a think and put the brakes on a bit. My lovely CD counsellor is going to be stopping doing CD and I feel I'm kind of doing half CD, half 'what I fancy' which negates the whole thing of being on CD.

After doing it for 7 months, perhaps now is the time anyway to plan for a new approach to eating because being in a kind of 'limbo' state of mind isn't good for me and food. It's why I've not been losing and that's the only reason. All the stuff I've had chucked at me since mid November has knocked me off balance a bit with my relationship with eating and I need I think to settle on a new way forwards.

It won't be for a few weeks yet and I need to decide what is best for me. I don't think it will be SW because although I love green days I find I lose weight very slowly or not at all because of all the carbs and the fact my body seems to store carbs and I get bored of eating just lots of meat on red days. Because there is no portion control (within reason) on SW I feel that would be a step backwards as I really have got my portion size down to small meals. I now need to work on the snacking that is creeping in. I also need to stick very much to low fat as my whole digestive system seems very intolerant to fatty foods after 7 months on CD.

I have never really got onwith WW for some weird reason but maybe now I am eating much less generally and certainly very small portions of food when I do eat, then WW might be for me now. Perhaps their points system would be best for me to try as I could have 3 small meals and a couple of snacks.

Losing the rest of the weight slowly isn't as much of an issue when I have something like 3.5 stone to lose rather than the 10 stone I started off with looking to shed. Even at a pound a week I would be as good as there by the end of the year.

I need to be able to have a proper plan in place otherwise I will mess around as I kind of currently am doing and I won't get anywhere.

I will say doing some walking is helping - I'm pretty sure I've lost some off my hips as a pair of trousers that fit/were a little loose are now dragging on the floor.

    I will have a think.....

Also down another notch on the belt which I bought at Xmas as the other one was way too big, so the excercise is plainly the key to losing size!! 15 mile walk on Sunday felt like nothing as I'm now used to close to 20 for a 'long' one.

As in all things in life, ask yourself who you are making changes for....if its for you and you are not acheiving those changes, then give yourself a stiff talking to!...dont let yourself down.

Hi Pepe, sorry to hear your news. Well done on the weight loss so far and you're sounding very positive. Just wanted to ask how long it's taken you to build up to walking 15+ miles? I just seem to get a mental block once I get to 5 miles and don't want to carry on! I need some proper walking shoes/boots I think, as my feet were hurting badly after 3 miles on my last walk. I do enjoy walking and want to up my mileage.

Really positive post Burlesque Babe, I've no doubt you can find a plan that works for you with a little tweaking! I definitely agree about the walking, it helped me lose a stone last year.

I'm a bit disappointed with myself as I've just eaten all the pasta I cooked, when I was going to put a portion aside for tomorrow. :o Oh well, will try again tomorrow.

Have you tried bootsdiets.com?? I used it to help me lose my weight and am still using it! They do a 7 day free trial!
  • Hi,
I believe WW has a new points system and there's a special offer of 3 months free. I don't attend WW but my friends has been with them for years and has lost weight lately with the new system. Tempted to join at times but feel that sessions near me are on inconvenient day for me :-(

BB your'll find the right plan, a food diary in the meantime might keep you choosing the right food. :-)
