Hi Pepe, sorry to hear your news. Well done on the weight loss so far and you're sounding very positive. Just wanted to ask how long it's taken you to build up to walking 15+ miles? I just seem to get a mental block once I get to 5 miles and don't want to carry on! I need some proper walking shoes/boots I think, as my feet were hurting badly after 3 miles on my last walk. I do enjoy walking and want to up my mileage.
Really positive post Burlesque Babe, I've no doubt you can find a plan that works for you with a little tweaking! I definitely agree about the walking, it helped me lose a stone last year.
I'm a bit disappointed with myself as I've just eaten all the pasta I cooked, when I was going to put a portion aside for tomorrow.Oh well, will try again tomorrow.
Good shoes/boots are a must Callisto. Get some soft walking boots first...the ones that look like 4wd trainers! Get some that come up around your ankles as that area can really cause you problems at first. ( Hawkshead do a good, cheap range).
Dont go off buying expensive, harder, boots yet ( mine are Terrazo, nu-buck ones £110 a pair but theyve lasted 5 years so far)...and NEVER buy shiny leather ones....your feet need to breathe.
GOOD SOCKS! get some Bridgedale liner socks, they're about £12 a pair but you wont get blisters.....wear a thicker pair over a thin pair, also stops friction.....silk socks , or bamboo fibre ones are also excellent next to the skin.
Then sort a 5 mile route that you enjoy, do it a few times, then allow all day and do it twice...dont rush and youll soon build up distance.
Then join the Long Distance Walking Association and you'll soon be doing a 100 mile weekend!
Find a decent hill and go up and down it...lots, at different speeds. Run up and down stairs, lots, to strengthen knees.
...I could go on!:rotfl::D stay wonky

I want to be able to have 3 small meals and 2 snacks. I know all there is to know about calories, what is low fat etc etc etc etc etc etc and at the end of the day it's just as much about WHY anyone eats as what they eat. Because I also teach cookery, I'm never at a loss as to what to do with ingredients and I really enjoyed doing some shopping earlier this week and re-discovering all the lovely foods I have missed buying (and now appreciate much more).
I'm almost sorted with the 'why' bit although it is hard to undo probably 25 years of food habits in just over 6 months but I'm getting there.
I will look at the bootsdiets plans. Tesco have a similar one, in fact they bought out a website I used many years ago which became the basis of the tescodiets.com plans.
I think I just need to sit down for an afternoon and sit and work it through in my head and decide what is best for me for the next stage in my journey. I had a quick read about the new propoints WW plan but not in detail so will look at that also. At the end of the day though, no plan can really be for the rest of anyone's life and it needs to become a way of life for it to ever really work long term."Stay Wonky":D

I thought this was interesting
Drop a stone and save over £200 in eight weeks
http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/food-drink/drop-a-stone-and-save-over-200-in-eight-weeks-blog-24-rachael-anne-hill.htmlWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Thank you Pernicious for your advice and motivation. You are so right with pointing out that we have 2 weeks to hit and smash our targets. So if I go to the gym loads in the next 2 weeks and eat 'good foods' and the odd Fred*o(17p) then I should meet the challenge.
Soaking the chick peas to be grown for Friday and Saturday.
Forgot to take my home made soup to work and couldn't find the nice reduced bread (49p) with seeds from Wa%tr*se today. On a good note I found a Vietamanese Prawn Rolls with rice noodle for £2.49 (intro price) and they were very healthy and fairly tasty. I suppose that is too much especially as I'm on a budget, however, you could quite easily spend £5 to £7 on lunch.
Pernicious there is only me to feed on £14.07. I don't think I have any friends coming over for tea in the next 2 weeks so I think I can do it if I empty my purse. Tomorrow will have to be a NSD. Wednesday I'll get some veggies and eggs and there'll probably last over a week. As a last resort I could use Tesco vouchers.
Thanks again for your advice.
Kx
That's the spiritAs long as it is only the odd Freddo mind you! Mmm, really fancy one of those now I haven't had one in years!
Sorry for the late reply by the way - how are you getting on with your grocery challenge? £14.07 could be doable for yourself depending on a few things like what you already have, if you're willing to go veggie for a few days, how much free time you have to cook from scratch etc.:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

- Nearly bust the budget! 31 pennies left. I had a NSD today :j and have decided that if I go over by 10% then I still have done really well especially as it is my first time I have budgeted this way.
I'm cooking from scratch and found a free litre of milk voucher in a magazine that I traded in yesterday. My other option is to spend the rest of my T**co vouchers or S'burys points.
Going to Uni is my big spend days due to needing the fresh coffee fix.
I see from your sig that you are a money saving inspiration. Thank you for your advice and motivation. :A
Here's to a low cost weekend.
