Went out to my sister's with my mum today to watch the kids for her while she went to a doctor's apointment. The twins were dancing away to MTV and were so funny. Other kids watch cartoons but the twins get upset if the music channels are turned over. :rotfl:
Helped my sister out by tidying the kids bedrooms (the 3yo's room looked like a bomb had hit it and he refused to help me tidy it until my mum bribed him with ice cream.) and doing the dishes for her. She'd been feeling rotten so hadn't done much housework.
Was looking at the photos I scanned for my mum and asking who was who, again was pretty interesting. She has some old letters written by her aunt when she was in Switzerland back to her family in the 30s and said I can have a look at those as well.

Have had a lovely birthday so far - got lovely presents from my OH and cards from his mum and gran with a gift card and a cheque to get something nice with. :j
Even better though - I got a job offer from the place I was waiting for. :j:j:j What a good birthday present! It is still subject to satisfactory medical results, disclosure and references but I'm hoping they wouldn't have made the offer without the medical ok. Due to start a week on Monday. :j:j
This will make things so much easier as the wage after training is a lot more than I was on in my last job. So pleased to finally have an official offer - I applied for the job 4 months ago!
OH is still waiting on another birthday surprise to be delivered for me as well so looking forward to that.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Happy Birthday Sashy :bdaycake:
And good luck with the job, really hope you get itErrrr...come back later0 -
Thanks Wesker.
Had a nice day yesterday and my other birthday surprise was a bouquet of flowers from M&S - it has sunflowers in it and is lovely and bright. :j
My mum came round with my brother and youngest nephew and gave me another couple of presents. My mum had helped my nephew make cakes for my birthday so he was all excited about them.
Going out for lunch today, pity the weather is still dull and wet. Might have a look about with my gift card and birthday money in town - I need some decent foundation as the one I have doesn't seem to suit my skin anymore.
OH's friend is probably going to stay over but as payment I'm making him cut my hair (since he's a hairdresser - not just randomly :rotfl:).
Forgot to move my new plant out of the living room last night so got up this morning to find it on the floor. Compost everywhere! Bl**dy cats! At least they didn't eat my flowers - small mercies and all that. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Happy belated birthday (Must have missed it somehow, sorry!)
Glad to hear you had a good time, and yay for Mr Sashy buying you lovely flowers :T
Well done on the new job too0 -
Thanks FF.
Had a lovely lunch out yesterday at a place attached to its own brewery so had some lovely beer as well and got a bit tipsy.
OH's friend stayed over last night so has cut my hair for me today and it's looking rather good now as he took quite a lot of length off and thinned it for me as well. :j
Plan for tomorrow is to go shopping with some friends, planned before I had birthday money, so not sure if I will spend much. One of my friends is heavily pregnant though so doubt we will be doing too much as she gets tired easily.

Thanks gilli - yes it gets a bit confusing between here and FB sometimes. :rotfl: I will enjoy my shopping trip as I hardly ever buy clothes anymore but will still have to behave and ask myself if I actually need things before buying.
Quite heavy rain today so far *shudder* glad we're going to a shopping centre and in the car.
In money news my Barclaycard is now under £400. :j Should be able to pay it off within a few months and then will pad to our DMP. I think I will probably put the money into savings until we have enough to pay a good chunk to the DMP. Also thinking about saving some money towards laser eye surgery as it's something I really want to get done.
OH came home the other day and announced that he wants to have a lads holiday going around Europe next year. So he is planning where they will go and what trains etc - fine, except we haven't had a holiday for about 5 years.
Of course I didn't get consulted, so I asked him what I was meant to do for this week when he gets to galivant around Europe. "Oh, we will go on holiday as well that year". I wonder where he thinks the money will come from? Although he is talking about saving for it I'm still a bit miffed.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Thanks psycho.
Hope you enjoyed your time away.
Had a nice shopping trip yesterday, although it was really clammy and the shopping centre was sooo hot it was horrible. Bought myself a skirt, two vest tops and another top in H&M, all for £28, love that place. :j Bought some base coat and decent black nail polish as going through a teenage phase of wanting to paint my nails black. :rotfl: Was shocked at the price of nail polish though. Also bought some socks to attempt to make sock monekys.
We were only out for a couple of hours as my very pregnant friend was knackered. She's due in about a week and really looking exhausted, this horrible weather isn't helping much.
I could do with going into the town and taking books back to the library but it looks like rain again so not sure if I'll bother today.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
