Ok, just getting ready to leave for this interview, feeling very sick and nervous about it.
Just need to keep telling myself I can do it and I know I can but can't stop the nerves.:(

Thanks psycho.
Well the second interview was quite intense and I don't feel it went very well. I had a one to one interview with the department manager, with her asking lots of questions for about 20 mins and me babbling. Then I had two merchandising tasks on the shop floor. Customers kept coming up to me and asking me questions. At least I looked like I worked there! :rotfl:
My first task was to do a display of handbags for 20-something customers and it was a disaster, I really didn't do well. Merchandising isn't something that comes naturally to me.She said that two of the brands I picked weren't generally popular with younger customers. To be honest, I've never worked in fashion retail and don't have a clue about posh handbag brands! I just liked the colours and designs.
The second task was in Beauty and was to pick products and lay out a cube based on a holiday theme. I think I did better on that one and showed that I listened to her advice after the handbag disaster.
Came out of the interview feeling a bit deflated and very unsure as to how it went. The manager asked a lot of questions about my degree and was I going to do anything with it etc. I don't think I'll get it but you never know I suppose.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I'm not sure I'd know what brands are popular with 20-somethings and I'm one of them!! I look at colours and designs more than the name anyway.
It's good that you showed you listened to her, and I'm sure they know they have to do some training with people they hire.
Try not to stress about it, just wait and see xxxBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

:rotfl: Me too psycho. :rotfl: Apparently Radley and Tula bags aren't generally popular with women in their 20s. *need shrugging smilie*Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. No idea about Tula... a lot of my friends have radley items, either bags or purses. Some of them are nasty, but some are lovely. She doesn't know what she is talking about!!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

Yeah, I was confused cos I know a few girls my age with Radley stuff. I didn't know half of the brand names to be honest but did see some nice bags by a brand called Nica.
Was good to have a nosy about all the posh handbags - I picked the bags for my display cos I liked the bright colours and detailing, not by brand. She wanted me to explain why I put them together and what the "story" was. I didn't even think about that, I was just really nervous and know I'm not good at that side of merchandising.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. We get told to make our gift-shop stuff look like a story, but we never do!! I'm fairly sure if someone wanted to buy something, the display wouldn't make much difference!!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

Hi Sashy.
Doesn't sound like it went too badly-think they always feel like they do though! Psycho's right, those types of exercises are so subjective. The '20somethings' might have preferred your selection!! Don't suppose the detail matters anyway as they always give training, guess it's just your attitude and general work ethic they want to see

Thanks scooby, just hoping that the mistake with the bags hasn't been a deciding factor for them.
Not long up and OH is still in bed, he has some sort of throat infection and of course is exaggerating it hugely. Even his friend was taking the p!ss last night by texting and asking what type of coffin he wanted. :rotfl:
Got a family first communion today but OH refused to go to church (I don't enjoy it either) so we will probably be going to the party afterwards. My mum, brother and sister are all there with my nieces and nephews and my mum won't let me get away with not going. *sigh*
Really need to get the house tidied and cleaned for OH's parents descending on us tomorrow afternoon. Not looking forward to that at all to be honest. Also could do with going food shopping for a few things. Why does everything happen at once and I'm never organised! :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200.
