Sashy just found your diary again, I lost it somehow.

Glad the assessment went ok. I've never done one, although I have attended as a staff member, and they always look scary to me.

I can sympathise with OH, I'd really, really like a MacBook, but just can't justify it. You are right to stick to your guns. When you are working and debt free you can have anything you want.

Hi gilly, nice to see you. :hello:

Yes the MacBook really is a want and not a need. He does work hard and I wish we could afford it but it's part of the reason we got into a mess with money in the first place. OH would want some silly expensive gadget or piece of equipment and I would agree - it would go on the cc - and he would be bored with it in a month or two and sell it on at a loss. He is getting better but seems to think we're ok because he's paid off his Capital One card.

We still have the balance on my Barclaycard (transferred from the Cap One card); our DMP with CCCS (about £4500); our stupid Northern Rock loan - just under £10000 - and we can't sell our flat without paying it off due to an order they have on us and the car loan which ends in December.

We will be needing extra money just to pay the bills until I'm working though plus it's car tax and MOT next month. I would rather pay anything extra off the debt as I want to save for a deposit for a house. I would also like to get married and maybe have a baby at some point but we can't afford it and we'll never afford it if we keep doing what we've always done. :(

Just don't understand what goes on in his head sometimes. :wall:

Have been very lazy today - stripped the bed, did a washing and had a bath. OH and I made chicken curry for dinner and had naan bread in the freezer and some rice in the cupboard to go with it so a nice cheap meal.

Have been umming and ahhing over a cupcake recipe book I saw in The Works a couple of weeks ago for £5.99. Got some cashback money through so think I will get it as it looks pretty good. Was thinking of making some cupcakes for my brother's 18th birthday and arranging them to make a big 18 instead of a cake.

Also got a cheque through from Globaltestmarket so will be able to pay that off my Barclaycard once it's cleared. :j

I'm looking for a new heat pad - have one of the wheat filled ones scented with lavender that you heat in the microwave. Only problem being that I scorched the wheat by microwaving it too long and now everytime I use it it stinks. :o I'd like an unscented one but can't seem to find one on ebay where I bought the one I have now.

The cats liked the chicken liver that we bought so that's something cheap that we can give them now and again to supplement their diet. Will be having a look in the other supermarkets for different (and cheap) frozen meat for them. Think I will take a look in Farmfoods as well actually and have heard that prawns are good as cat treats. Just need to find things to make sure their diet is balanced enough.

Was meaning to go out and do things today but can't make myself move. :o Need to go to the library, buy myself the book on cupcakes and have a look in Farmfoods at meat for the cats. I think I will end up doing it all tomorrow as there's nothing urgent.

Hoping to hear back from my interview but they did say it would probably be a few days. If they want to offer me a job they will phone and if not I will get an email, no phone call as yet but also no rejection email which is good. Keep checking my email obsessively though! Going to be seriously down if I don't get this job as I'm more than qualified and able to do it.

OH wanted to book me a consultation for laser eye surgery. I said no as there's no point because we don't have the money. So he phoned them up for an estimate and it's looking like £2500 at least to get both eyes done. So....won't be getting that done anytime soon then. My eyesight is really atrocious and it's something I would love to get done but there's no way I will be able to afford it for a long time yet. :(

OH hasn't mentioned the MacBook again...yet. I'm expecting there to be some arguments about it. :(

Going to try and be more productive today - am up and dressed to head out to the library soon. Looks like it will rain today - yuck.

Think I will have a look in Farmfoods for meat for the cats while I'm in town and may buy myself the cupcake book.

Still waiting to hear from job interview but no news is good news - I hope!

Other things I should do today - clean bathroom, clean fridge, tidy living room and do some shredding. Making corned beef hash for dinner and might try banana bread in the bread maker as have lots of black bananas in my freezer.

Will report back if I get any news, hope you're keeping your fingers crossed for me! :p

Went to the library and also farmfoods. Only got some frozen prawns for the cats and some chicken breast for us. Not much in the way of offal or meat that the cats would eat. Will have to look around the different shops and see what they have.

Bought this book from The Works for £5.99 and also this one since it was cheap. Also managed to get this one from the library. :j Will have to have a look at all of them and make some cupcakes. :)

Did a quick tidy of the living room but still need to do cleaning. Will probably do it after lunch. Still not heard back from interview. :(

    Thanks psycho.

Just got a call from the HR dept of the place I went to for my group assessment - she said a couple of the department managers there were interested and I've passed the assessment. :j The beauty department were the first to get back to her and want to see me for a second interview next Friday. :j

She also said she might phone me back before then depending on the other departments and availability of roles. Basically they will just try and slot me into a job when one is available but might have to go in for second interviews with department managers like I'm doing next week with beauty.

I was quite shocked when she said the beauty department were interested in me! I'm so not the type of girl that would normally work in a beauty department as I'm too lazy to even wear make-up most of the time.

Really pleased that I passed and hopefully will get a job with them eventually, just not sure what department yet. They are a really good company to work for - think high-end department store. Not so thrilled about yet another interview and all the waiting involved!

Some jumping smilies just because I feel good. :j:j:j:j
