I was actually a productive little bunny yesterday and cleaned and tidied for a few hours. I hoovered the living room - usually OH's job - and discovered what I always suspected - he doesn't move things to hoover under them. Both couches and the coffee table had lots of crumbs. Also hoovered down in between the cushions in the couches. _pale_
Tried the sugar soap on the splatter stains on my wall and it seems to have lightened the stain a bit but not got rid of it. Might try again today, maybe I was too gentle with it but don't want to scrub my paint off.
Made chicken fajitas with refried beans for dinner last night and even made the wraps myself. *proud* Then OH and I decided to try and make a Swiss roll - we failed miserably. :rotfl: The first time the sponge rose too much and wasn't cooked through so we tried another tin. The next try wasn't cooked long enough - OH insisted it was ready so I let him take it out - it wasn't cooked through. Now I remember why I don't make sponges - I'm rubbish at it!
My youngest cat likes to sit in the washing basket when I leave it in front of the machine. OH's new favourite game is waiting till he's sitting in it then pushing him around the kitchen floor in it. Cue one confused cat and one hysterically laughing OH. I think he stopped maturing mentally at 10. :rotfl:
More job hunting planned for today and possibly more cleaning and tidying. Think we are having baked camembert and foccacia tonight so need to look at the dough recipe for my breadmaker and hope it works.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Forgot to add that I had another job rejection last night.
Feeling a bit lost just now as don't really know what I even want to do. I'm applying for retail jobs as that's what I have experience in and also some admin jobs, although I don't have much experience there.
I've just never known what kind of work I want to do and I just seem to drift into things and then decide I don't enjoy them. I left my permanent retail job as I was only working 20 hours a week and they wouldn't give me more. I'd originally reduced my hours from 30 because I was doing a post-grad in teaching, which I left due to the awful experience I had in my first placement and the total lack of support from the university. Previous to that I'd also tried and quit a post-grad in library studies.
I feel embarrassed to admit that I've left my last job even though the contract would have ended in July anyway. People who know me just seem to expect it from me now, that I'll try something and then just give up. The main response I get from them is "Oh, what are you like".
I'm really lacking in direction and don't know what to do about it.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Well, I've been invited to another group assessment for a retail job which I'm pleased about as it's with a good company. :j
However, you need to book your own slot through their online system and of course there is no link on my account to actually book the damn thing. So I've emailed their support and the recruitment person who emailed me to invite to the assessment. Hoping they will get it sorted today as worried about missing out on the job if I can't get a slot booked due to their stupid system.
I was quite lazy yesterday and only did the minimum tidying and cleaning. Need to clean out the cat litter tray today and give the bathroom a wipe as well. Might be seeing my mum and sister later or tomorrow for lunch.
I did manage to write a new review for Ciao and do some rating there as well. Got my payment from last month through today so have paid that off my Barclaycard which takes me under £600. :j
Don't think I have anything else to report today, will be back with an update if I get the group assessment booked.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
Group assessment now booked - for tomorrow. It's going to be 3 hours long as well so now feeling sick and worried about it.
At least I won't have too long to freak out about it though I suppose. Ok, need to leave in about 20 minutes to give myself plenty of time to get to my group assessment. Trying not to panic too much, but dear God what are we going to be doing for 3 hours?!
Have to remember not to talk too much which is a nervous habit of mine and be chatty but not un-shut-up-able (new word).
My mum is meeting me in town after the interview and we are going to have a wander round before heading home. I think I will need a nap after all the nerves. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. The last group assessment I did they gave us a challenge to think about - something about having 10 people trapped on a mountain but only being able to rescue 8 of them. They were looking to see how we worked with each other, there was no right and wrong to the question. If it's something like that, they will be looking for people who communicate well with others without being overbearing, and I'm sure you will be fine.
Am thinking many happy thoughts for you!!!!0 -
Good luck with the assessment Sashy!0

Just back from town after lunch and wandering about with my mum. Bought some lovely soap from Lush - expensive but it tends to last me a couple of months at least.
The assessment was ok but it's hard to tell how it went. There were about 20 people altogether and we had 3 assessors plus the recruitment lady watching us. We had 3 tasks; task 1 working in a group prioritising work in a hypothetical situation, task 2 was being given a random product and having to sell it in front of everyone and task 3 was 10 people on an island, you can only save half of them, again working in a group.
It wasn't too scary and everyone was very nice but as I said it's hard to tell how you've done. Should hear in a couple of days but could be up to two weeks. I hope I've got it as they seem a good company to work for plus I really need a job!
Had a nice time with my mum afterwards but feeling really drained now.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

Thanks mac, strange person that I am I've enjoyed the last two group assessments I've been to. Would enjoy them more if I got the job though.
Also thanks FF for your help with what to expect from the assessment.
Did a bit of shopping today, went to Sainsbury's as they had Ribena half-price and didn't buy a great deal but it still came to £40. So again going to try and make dinners this week from what we have - no more trips to the supermarket.
OH wants to buy a MacBook Pro now because he's selling an older laptop. We have no need for it - we have a laptop and two computers between the two of us! They are so expensive as well! I said we could use the money to pay off debt or get something useful. His response "But I want one" My response "Well I want laser eye surgery which would be more useful but it's not going to happen anytime soon". He then said I was to get a quote for it - I seriously doubt we could afford it and with our credit rating wouldn't get a 0% deal either. I think he was trying to distract me from the MacBook.
He just wants to buy gadgety stuff and thinks because he's selling one thing he doesn't need he can buy another. I know he won't just go and buy it without me agreeing though so that's one good thing.
I bought frozen chicken livers for the cats today - 37p in Sainsbury's - hopefully they will like them. They had a treat of sardines for their tea so are quite happy now. Looking for good raw meat for the cats is a bit of a nightmare since our supplier closed their website. We ordered a lot of frozen stuff from an alternative and it was rubbish so just trial and error now.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
