Went into town and bought a t-shirt and top for OH in Primark for £13. :j Then saw a lovely blue coat in River Island in the sale down from £50 to £25 - OH gave me his gift voucher so it only cost £5. :j It's a size smaller than I would usually take but fits fine apart from being a bit tight on the arms. I really liked the colour and can move my arms so got it anyway. :o

We were going to go to Pizza Express for lunch since we had vouchers but it was rammed so went to a local Italian which was lovely. We had £20 from my mum so used that towards it.

Then we had a wander around the Hamley's store which was quite fun. We saw a giant stuffed elephant for £7500. It was life size though! :rotfl:

Thanks FF, I did use a bain marie but it still went wrong - hmm. I blame my sister's cooker! :p

Not up to much today but did agree to babysit my sister's youngest kids (twins 18 months and a 3 yo). She's going out with her friends since it was her birthday on Wednesday and her babysitter let her down at the last minute. My oldest nephew is staying with his dad so only the youngest three to worry about.

Think I will ask my friend to come down and keep me company as OH refuses because it's "boring". Well I won't be doing anything that I wouldn't usually - tv and computer - just keeping an ear out for the kids as well.

Still at my sister's house, just browsing the net and watching tv. The kids have been fine apart from the 3yo having a poo incident. He just announced his trousers were a bit wet and I asked why "Oh, it's just a wee bit of poo". Lovely, thanks for that! Then he wanted me to just clean his pyjama trousers cos he wanted to keep them on - err no! I know TMI but I knew there was a reason I don't babysit often!

My friend came down with me and kept me company for a few hours but she's pregnant and gets tired easily now so headed home about an hour ago. Just chilling out as the kids are all asleep, will be a couple of hours before my sister gets back.

We finally bought our laminate flooring for the hall yesterday as there was 15% off - still came to £275 as it has a real wood top layer. _pale_ Very glad I had padded the savings for it! Still have £75 left over so will need to decided what we're doing with that. My OH is thinking about laying the flooring himself with a bit of advice from his dad and the internet - saving us a lot in labour costs.

We had quite a relaxed day otherwise and just chilled out. One of my cats ( the crazy one) had a projectile vomiting episode though in the living room. She was sick all down the wall, the heater, the couch and the carpet. So we now have splatter stains on our cream painted wall. Need to find a way to get it off without wrecking the paint.

Bloody cats - they are worse than children!

Horrible weather here today and really need to return my library books - think I'll be wearing my wellies! Really need to go and get cat litter as well as don't have enough to do a full clean and change but think I might leave that until tomorrow.

Need to get on with the job hunt again today, still feeling a bit down about it all and hoping that at least the admin bank will give me a start date soon as we really need the money.

Also need to start meal planning again as did it ages ago and it did save a lot of money but fell out of it when I was working full time. We seem to be spending a lot on food and keep going to the supermarket every few days but never seem to have any food.

So thinking of making cheese and onion pasties tonight as have ingredients for that, maybe corned beef hash later in the week and also baked potatoes but need to have a look through the cupboard and freezer. I quite fancy making some carrot cake today as well and think I have everything I need for it.

Was also reading on MSE about the oil cleansing method which sounds interesting and something that I might give a go. Using oil as a cleanser does sound a bit odd but most of the people on the thread have had a good experience with it.

Ok, library books returned and pasties and carrot cake made. Can't seem to get the icing on the carrot cake smooth on top but I will just call it lovingly homemade rather than a mess. :p

Had a dance about to the radio while cooking with an audience of cats and had quite a good time actually! :o Not so sure about the cats though. :rotfl: Had to keep an eye on them while the carrot cake was cooling since the oldest cat has now taken a liking to cake. She stole a mini danish pastry from the worktop last night, couldn't get it out of the packaging but managed to wedge her paw in and steal the cake. OH found her eating it!

No news on the job front. :wall:

Need to get cat litter today but don't know if I can face going out as will need to drive there and driving stresses me out. Feeling a bit down as nothing much is happening on the job front and I know I've been a bit lazy about applying for things. Feeling a bit panicky at the thought of no money coming in at the end of the month though.

OH has now decided he needs a jigsaw and work bench to do the laminate flooring. So wants to use the money left over from the flooring to buy them, I'm not convinced but he insists he needs them to do it properly.

Really need to get myself applying for jobs today and do something vaguely productive. Might go out for cat litter but will have to put diesel in the car before going to Pets at Home so not sure. Also think I have an appointment at the chiropractor's tonight but don't think I can afford £27 for it. :(

Well the jigsaw and workbench were bought last night for £90. Luckily I still had £75 left from the flooring fund but was hoping to use it for something else. :( OH wants to lay the flooring this weekend so that should be interesting.

Went to my chiropractor's appointment as OH reminded me they still charge you if you cancel without 48 hours notice. I only go every 3 months so not too bad and glad I went as it does help my back and neck. My chiropractor is fun to talk to as well, she's American and is a mad cat person like me. :rotfl:She thought the cat projectile vomiting was hilarious and went and told her receptionist!

We were a bit naughty and went to Asda for a make your own pizza and bought beer as well. :o Not great. :o

Better get cracking with some job applications now I suppose.

Went and did the food shopping with a rough meal plan in place and spent about £40 so not too bad. My rough meal plan is looking like this:

    Corned beef hash
    Chicken fajitas
    Lasagne
Chicken stir fry (going to marinate the chicken in soy sauce, olive oil, garlic and fresh ginger)
    Spanish omelette
Pasta with leek, mushroom and pancetta.
    ???

Morrisons were doing 12 Muller light yoghurts for £2 so that should keep us going for a while!

Saw my mum and sister yesterday - my sister has been given so many Easter eggs for the kids that she could set up her own stall. Now I know where to go if I have a chocolate craving. :D:p My mum gave me a box of chocolates and my brother gave me two wee eggs for me and OH though. :)

One of the twins has taken a liking to my Rocketdog trainers as they have black sequins on the sides. She was touching them and got upset if I sat in a way that she couldn't see the trainers. :rotfl: My sister bought them pink glittery shoes and they love them - if they see them they have to have them on and they run about looking at their feet. :rotfl:A shoe addiction at not even 2! :D

Still chasing the admin bank to find out when I'm likely to get some work and need to finish a couple of applications today as well.
