You definitely have to disembark and go through immigration at the first point of landing in the US. You also need from my personal experience a minimum of 2 hours between flights in Houston.as from mine, but you like to presume virgin would be telling the truth, i shall call them tommorrow and ask, although continentals website gives same flight times with same gap of 45 mins inbetween flights although with a different flight number
i agree , why are we calling Virgin liars or mis informed without evidence . if you don't get off the plane in Houston , then i would say you have not yet entered the USA.
personally i would go with what they told you on the phone . If it says on you tickets/ Booking confirmation 2 x 23KG i would like to see them refuse your extra bag .
get in writing and if anything does not happen like they say , you will be able to give them merry hell until it is sorted to your satisfaction .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Do they show the arrival and departure terminals? Are they the same or different? Aircraft, same or different?
I do think that Virgin have misadvised you...and 45 mins will likely be too tight a connection as you know...not necessarily impossible, but pretty darn unlikely. Still, Continental will have to get you there at least.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I think that international flights have to offload passengers at the first point of entry into the US though - the Continental flight from Houston to Vegas will arrive at the domestic terminal too.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

like Ferf says if Virgin have told you one thing and then Continental then say another , Continental HAVE to get you to your destination somehow . they will stick you on their or some other airlines plane later in the day . even if you had enough time to make your connection and then missed it due to immigration they HAVE to get you to Vegas
okay not a cast iron answer , but i saw on the BBC 1 Airport program a few years ago people who sat on a plane in Heathrow while some people got off on others got on . the ground crew had to clean around them.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I've been in the same situation, flight from Indianapolis to Vegas, stopped in Cincinnati to pick up passengers (I lived in Cincinnati but it was waaaaay more expensive to fly from there)...but no immigration for anyone to clear.
FWIW - looking at Continental's website for LHR to LAS, every option shows Change Planes. Connect time in (airport) is (number of) hours (number of) minutes.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

If they say "everybody off please" and you say "but Ive been told by VirginHols I dont need to get off" and you dont get off, likely youll end up in jail, with a record, and no chance of going to the states again.
trets, Im not disputing Continental do have to get you there, but it may be some hours later than you expected, and you may have chosen a different route if you had been told you had no chance of making the connecting flight when you booked.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Been getting fares daily with Kayak from Manchester to Vegas for a date next year started at £595 each went up to £617 now back down to £577.
The more you search for a date means more interest and the prices go up...if you stop searching for a few days/week they go back down again...I dont mean they stay up!0 -
October , NovemberHelp!...... I can't decide which hotel to stay in!!
I am going to vegas in May with the other half and just can't choose which hotel. We won't gamble loads, i will play a bit of poker and just wanted to look round, shows etc. We want a nice room and hotel and quite central if we can.
Been looking at the following -
Encore at the Wynn
Venetian
Bellagio
They all look good but i am a bit worried about how much its going to cost for food etc in these as everything seems so expensive!
Is it worth paying the extra for these hotels ?
Cheers

Hotel is your personal choice, you mention poker, May depending on the date is the start of the World Series, you may not want to or find it too expensive, but there are a number of quality tournaments at the same time, Caesers, Venetian, Golden Nugget and Binions all have a big schedules, Binions for example shadows the schedule of the WSOP but at a tenth of the buy-in.
If cash is your preference then it all depends on your choice of game and bankroll, you will find nearly all the casinos have a poker room and games as small as $1/$2 no limit are everywhere. Your choice of venue will be important as will the time of day.
Be interested in understanding your requirements to help steer you in the right direction.0
