MayThanks for the reply's.
We are going for 7 nights so probably just going to stay at one hotel. I was leaning more towards the Encore or Venetion so that narrows my choice down to 2.
My other half does like to stay at nice hotels so a good room / hotel is a must really. (Personally i would go for a cheaper option so i can lose more on the poker tables!)
I am probably leaning more to the Encore and she likes the Venetion.....let the battle commence!0 -
JulyThanks so much for all of the suggestions - we especially love the Bently & Wilson photographers and are definitely going to look into using them at places like the Neon Graveyard, Fremont St etc. Love the idea of alternative photo's. Think I will end up getting my dress/shoes here and we are going to look at rings next week.
Staying in Staybridge Suites on Dean Martin (nice and chilled for us) and then looking to book into somewhere for a couple of days around the wedding. Did Encore last year so not sure how to top that in terms of luxury???
Has anyone got experience of hair/make-up facilities in Vegas that they could recommend?
Will keep everyone posted.
Big thanks

We really like Encore, but some find the walk from the rooms to the strip to be annoying (we started to find that last trip, but wasn't too bad)...
My husband took a video of one of our rooms at Encore - sure you've seen similar but just in case...

Thing about Venetian/Palazzo is (as far as I know) the rooms all have the sunken lounge area...also, separate TV in lounge area to bedroom (at Encore one telly swivels between the 2 areas)...OK, so you're not likely to watch that much TV in Vegas, but still...also a DVD player I think (again, unlikely to be a major draw, but nice touch).
I think we're going for Palazzo over Encore next trip...and see what we think...

I wouldn't worry about the other outlets. On one trip we thought they were better than the Premium Outlets, but every other time we have much preferred the Premium Outlets. In fact I think we'll give the LV Outlets a miss when we go back.
I've been to the outlets near the airport and thought they where rubbish compaired to the Premium Outlets, i got a few lovely DKNY bags at the Premium and saved a fortune! I guess it depends what you are after, but I think the one near the airports really dingy and i like being outside more at the premiumThanks so much for all of the suggestions - we especially love the Bently & Wilson photographers and are definitely going to look into using them at places like the Neon Graveyard, Fremont St etc. Love the idea of alternative photo's. I used http://www.glamsquad702.com/homepage.html and thought they where great, we're going to a wedding next summer and the bride is using http://www.lasvegaswedding-makeup.com/index1.html
I've heard good reviews for both.
Also - for any Forever 21 lovers - Birmingham and Dublin stores have just opened up this week. I get to Birmingham quite a bit with work so looking forward to seeing it!0 -

I think to an extent it depends on what shops you are interested in...I only made it to one last trip and went to the south strip one as it had more shops that interested me (I'm less interested in designer stuff than some, though)...the south strip one has more non-designer shops, and for some (like me) more bargains...if you aren't big on designer labels, a top that would cost $100 in a normal shop may be a bargain at $50 at the outlet...but may still be $20 too much if you're not interested in/don't assign any value to the label.
I had planned to go to both, but after the first one, when I looked at the stores I was interested in at Premium Outlets, once I took out the ones that I'd already been to at the LV Outlet Centre, there wasn't much left where I thought I was likely to actually buy anything.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We stayed in the Encore last July after splitting the trip up by staying in Staybridge Suites (TA recommended successfuly) and the room was stunning - I would say by far the best in Vegas if you like modern, contemporary luxury. The Venetian is nice, however they pump a distinct air freshener through the hotel which does annoy some people (not great for people with allergies)
I would also say within the Encore you have Society Cafe which IMHO is outstanding (have the banana split!) and it's really handy for Fashion Show Mall.:):staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin0 -

Hi,
just saw your post that you have stayed at the MGM recently. we are booked to go there in Nov 2011.
Did you like your room and the hotel? We have just found about the resort fee, how much is the charge?
Was any of the pools open at the mgm?
Did you use the spa there ?
Would you recommend anything to do at the hotel that is not to be missed.
thanks0 -
AugustHelp!...... I can't decide which hotel to stay in!!
I am going to vegas in May with the other half and just can't choose which hotel. We won't gamble loads, i will play a bit of poker and just wanted to look round, shows etc. We want a nice room and hotel and quite central if we can.
Been looking at the following -
Encore at the Wynn
Venetian
Bellagio
They all look good but i am a bit worried about how much its going to cost for food etc in these as everything seems so expensive!
Is it worth paying the extra for these hotels ?
Cheers
Mmachine
On our first trip we stayed at the Mirage and the only thing we didn't like about it was the lack of "cheap" eats, thought the deli was ok in it.
Our second trip we stayed in the Venetian, the food court here was a god send, Pizza, (massive) sarnies, coffee, doughnuts - breakfast and midnight snacks catered for - we loved it, not dead cheap but reasonable and great for taking back to the room.

The resort fee info is available on MGM's website.
For your convenience, for arrivals after July 4th, a daily resort fee of $10 plus tax will be added to your room account and includes the following hotel services: Complimentary high speed internet, $15 beverage credit per stay available at any MGM owned bar, daily USA Today newspaper, local and toll free numbered calls, limited Business Center Services such as outgoing faxes, copies, notary, and boarding pass printing.
I think credit_crunch stayed in a Celebrity Spa Suite (CSS), so not a standard room.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
If you haven't booked yet - and I am guessing you haven't as you are talking about having vouchers - you won't get 2 x 23kg with Virgin any more. They stopped that some time ago (but still honour old bookings that were made before they changed it).
The only way you will get 2 x 23kg each is if you are flying PE - and I suspect you won't be if you are on a Continental flight, as I'm not aware they have a PE equivalent product.
Also, I've never heard of stopping to pick up new passengers on your first point of entry into the US (Houston in your instance). I am sure you will have to disembark, go through immigration, clear customs, recheck your bags and get back on a plane to Vegas. The bonus of that is that you won't have the hassle of doing it again at LAS.
Just wanted to be sure you don't think it is a quick stop with a few extra bodies getting on - as I am sure it won't be.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
