    Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of help booking a hotel in Las Vegas for a stag do please. We are staying 4 nights. We have a date set at the moment with flights arriving on 6th May 2011 and departing 10th May 2011.

We would like to stay at Planet Hollywood or the Luxor. I also like the look of the "Terribles" but aren't sure where it is in relation to the main strip.

There are 4 to 6 of us going and would prefer for 2 people to share a twin bedded room.

I have tried looking on Planet Hollywood's website but don't know what the suite i'm looking for would be called.

    Any help or advice appreciated.

P.S. Does anyone know Planet Hollywood's email address.

I would choose PH out of the three listed. It is in a good location and the best of the bunch.

Terrible's is one mile from the corner of LVB and Flamingo road. I have stayed there several times and like the rooms and the casino. My parents loved it because they didn't get lost! It is definitely more of a locals place though, definitely not ideal for a stag trip, or for a short stay.

you dont have to pay being british, think you just had to show passport and fill out a form but you do get all your money there and then.

Casinos aren't obliged to do this though - it's at their discretion...most of the bigger casinos will do it, but not all.

I think it's this form that you can complete

    http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf

    Instructions:

    http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw8ben.pdf

    Some info here:

    http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/international/article/0,,id=105156,00.html

You can go through the process of reclaiming the tax if the casino does withhold the 30%.

My husband won over $1199 a couple of trips ago - but he has an ITIN, so they didn't have to apply for one for him and he didn't have any issues.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Have you read page one and used all the links to the cheaoer rates?

Of the 3 hotels you have mentioned PH is a different class and def the best of the 3 in terms of quality and location.

Terribles is a long way off the strip and IMO is not worth considering. I dont know anyone who has stayed there or who would want to, having said that I do eat at their buffet a lot as it is very very cheap

All hotels have twin bed rooms, they will be called 2 queen rooms and you will get 2 queen size beds in the room.

Thanks to Pebbles, Photome etc.. for the advice.

Now i know where is best to stay, and the type of room i am looking for i will check those links out.

The good thing with the Planet Hollywood is the resort fee is included, and thats the grooms choice anyway.

    Thanks

Check https://www.harrahs.com/hot-deals/ for rates for PH although it is too early for the good offers.

    Hey everyone :)

We're booked to fly out 14th July for two weeks, Manc-Vegas with Virgin. This will be our second trip...:j

Can anyone who has got married in Vegas give me some advice? We are currently looking at locations, and would like to do something a little more 'classy' (if that's the right word, not wanting to offend anyone, everyone is different and whats right for one person isn't for another). We are not religious at all, and would like an intimate ceremony.

There will only be the two of us and really would like to have some nice, if different, wedding photo's. Would also really like advice re: getting a wedding dress/rings over there (again,we don't really do tradition or fuss, more contemporary/alternative/vintage chic)

    Any advice gladly appreciated :)

First of all congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
Me and DH did the Vegas wedding thing in 2001 on our first ever trip out there. We just went and sussed a couple of places out and ended up here
    http://www.ahollywoodweddingchapel.com/index.html

It's a 5 minute stroll up from the Sahara where we were staying, it's across from the Stratosphere, a nice little place run at the time (may still be) by Rev Dennis and his wife (who acted as witness and photographer)
It was just a quick 15 minute service, no fuss just me, DH , Rev and missus. There was a prayer said by him during the ceremony, but nothing really religious just a blessing of sorts.
We got a video, photos & DH got a buttonhole for his tux and I got a bouquet (plastic but we still have them and both still in fab condition)

For rings we got them over here at H Samuels January sale.
For attire I wore a gold trouser suit bought for £40 (reduced from £100) :jat TK Maxx over here and DH hired a tux at Ilenes tux hire here

    http://www.ilenestuxgown.com/index_2.php

If you hire a tux, you get a free limo ride to the court house to get your wedding licence and bring you back to pick your suit up. You can also hire wedding dresses too if you prefer.

Like you said, everybody is different and we only did it this way because we were on a budget ourselves. There are loads of wedding places out there and you may get lots of ideas just walking up and down the Strip. There is always someone wandering around wearing wedding attire.
The day for us was perfect. Made all the more fun by us being toasted and wished well by a wino drinking whisky from a bottle wrapped in a bag while we strolled up to the chapel, and a family who congratulated us by raising McDonald's milkshakes when we walked out. :D

I hope this helps you plan your special day.

gambling winnings over $1,200 are subject to witholding regardless where you are from. once you are back in blighty you keep the receipt and contact the IRS at the American embassy in London, fill out a claim form and get the witholding refunded. You will be given a personal tax number with which subsequent wins on visits etc is filled in on a form and you can collect the whole amount. You cannot get a PTN before you go, only when you win are liable for witholding. You must get a receipt and keep it to be able to claim it back from the IRS.

Some casinos will do that on the spot for you but be aware any of the Harrah's won't, a couple of years ago when Harrahs moved the WSOP to the Rio they paid out winnings without deductions and got into trouble with the IRS. What did they do write off the 30%'s noo
They didn't publicise it but waited until people had bought in and had taken their seats at the tournament and then approached each player at their seat before the start and demanded the money otherwise they would be disqualified and not refunded their buy-in, the largest sum settled was in excess of $30k.

These were without exception foreign players who had travelled to Vegas at significant cost and their entry fee for the tourney...$10k.

Hi nancyo, we booked flights for our honeymoon next sept a fees weeks ago, flying from heathrow to LV on 7th sept and back from San Francisco on 21st (to fly back from LV was similar price) and it was £550 each direct with BA. What have you come up with so far?

I've been looking for the beginning of Sept, fly out Edi 2nd Sept and return 9th, £689 (with BA)...bit expensive as there was a package deal for 7 nights staying at Imperial Palace for £650, but I dont want to stay there lol.

Consider the Wynn or the MGM wedding packages - two different price bands there for you. Not an Elvis in sight!!!

We were quoted £1745 flying virgin and £1866 flying BA, BA being the preferred option, not a bad price I thought but I was just wondering if I should hang on in case there is a sale

it's always tough knowing which way to jump .

some people prefer the certainty of booking now and having it all sorted , others to risk it and prefer to wait and see what price that can get with lots of searching ect .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
