I've been lurking in this thread since February. My husband and I just got back from our first trip to Vegas 2 weeks ago and just wanted to say thanks for all the great advice as it really helped up plan our trip, also as this is only my 2nd post ever... hello!

Anyway now we have got the Vegas bug, we are ready to book the next trip. We are planning to go in March and quite fancied the Vdara. Having looked around it seems the cheapest option at the moment is to book via Thomas Cook, which I found surprising as I though it would be cheaper to book separately..maybe because we only want to fly direct?

My question is, should we book now or do you think that there will be a sale soon given that its nearly Christmas?

Also has anyone stayed at the Vdara? What did you think?

it's not always the case that booking things separate works out cheaper . what price have you been quoted ?
hi, any tips for a cheapish hotel for 6 lads in may time? All first timers to Vegas, would apprieciate any advice.

Imperial Palace is usually the best bet for a cheap , well located place to stay . it's probably more suited to younger groups as well . the rooms aren't known for their luxury , and some are way down deep in the back . but a groups of lads probably won't mind .
going next may, originally my wife was liking the look of the bellagio, but now we are both looking at the cosmopolitain, as the location seems great and rooms look wonderful, has anyone got any info or good prices for this hotel, be interesting to see the reviews as it dosent open until december 15th

as it has not yet opened it will be difficult to say what a good price is . try the links in post 1 for searching for offer prices .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

here's my review on tripadvisor of our stay at the Vdara in September.

it's the one entitled "best hotel we've stayed in" at the top (should give you a clue to how we found it!)
  • Hi,

Can anyone please give me any thoughts on these prices, we are visiting Vegas next October for the first time, there will be 2 adults and 1 child aged 9. We do not know whether to book flights and hotel seperate or as a package. 7 NIGHTS.

    NEW YORK/NEW YORK - £594

    MONTE CARLO - £526

    MANDALAY BAY - £796

    MIRAGE - £879

    EXCALIBUR - £282

    LUXOR - £350

    MGM - £486

Flights are working out at about £1675 direct for the three of us.

    Thanks

Thats pretty expensive for flights, I think you may find a better deal than that and as for the hotel prices, Luxor and Excalibur sounds about right but the rest seem pretty expensive.
There probably not out for Oct next year but you can try www.smartervegas.com and this will give you a rough idea on deals for each hotel, assuming there are no major conventions on when you are visiting you will get a much better deal on a hotel. I found Bellagio for $99 on this site! October next year is pretty far out, deals for this time wont be out for another few months.

I wonder if anyone else is looking at flights from Dublin to Vegas. They are starting to look a lot cheaper than travelling from the UK as they are not lumbered with all the tax we have to pay.

Those flights are £560 each, IMO that will be the going rate next year with the increase in taxes. I may be wrong of course but again IMO if the OP is happy with those prices for direct flights I would book them and then not look again.

AS for the hotels I would say they are all to much to pay. I would expect to be able to get all those hotels cheaper nearer the time.

Bungle, what do you consider a good price for a direct flight next year

I checked a week or so ago and the August 2011 flights from Dublin were more than a direct flight from London

Well 2 years ago I paid £325 and this year £480, both direct from london, although a Gla-Lhr leg prior. So completely direct i'd say around what I paid this year!
Please note that this was travelling British Airways.
    Have I just been lucky?

We were quoted £1745 flying virgin and £1866 flying BA, BA being the preferred option, not a bad price I thought but I was just wondering if I should hang on in case there is a sale
