here's my review on tripadvisor of our stay at the Vdara in September.

it's the one entitled "best hotel we've stayed in" at the top (should give you a clue to how we found it!)

Thanks for that, that review makes me want to go even more! Great pics too!

Well 2 years ago I paid £325 and this year £480, both direct from london, although a Gla-Lhr leg prior. So completely direct i'd say around what I paid this year!
Please note that this was travelling British Airways.
    Have I just been lucky?

No you havent just been lucky, I paid similar prices to you, £330 last year and £460 this year altho that was m+ m fare with Virgin so was really just over £500.

But , taxes went up a couple of weeks ago so flights are now more expensive, I have never seen prices as high as the quoted prices for next year and I have been going most years for the last 12 years.

Of course no one knows exactly what prices will be available in sep next year but as things stand IMO anything around £500/550 is not a bad price for a direct flight

Amazing prices, hope Virgin is soon having another sale, £500 sounds not too bad for a direct flight. Silly question: what is an m+m fare?

Miles + Money - use 2000 Flying Club miles to get a reduced fare...sometimes it can be a decent savings, sometimes not so much.

I'm pretty sure we got economy tickets for £298 each with M+M - possibly £289 - a few years ago. Those were the days!

We were quoted £1745 flying virgin and £1866 flying BA, BA being the preferred option, not a bad price I thought but I was just wondering if I should hang on in case there is a sale

how does the price breakdown ?

2 flights direct ? and this figure above includes 7 nights at Vdara ?

personally i would book any direct flight that came in around the £500 mark . the new APD has pushed the price up again . the days of sub £400 fares are long gone .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Yes this includes 7 nights at the Vdara.
I'm not sure how it breaks down with Thomas Cook, it doesn't say but if we were to book separately...

Vdara (direct with hotel) I think was around £950...their system is down so cant double check at the mo
    Flights with BA £617 pp
Flights with Virgin £930pp and that's including my Tribe discount!

ahh you really wouldn't be disappointed! i know there's a few 1 star reviews on tripadvisor, but isn't there for everywhere? and most of the time it's people complaining about something which wasn't the hotel's fault!

    Hey Guys!
Has anyone booked up for Sept 2011 yet? I have been looking at prices of flights and seem very expensive, I knew that they would go up a bit because of the taxes!
Has anyone managed to find a good deal?

Anyone got any input on this ?
Not sure how it affects us Brits, but i been reading that for US and even Canadian's, if they win a single win of $1200 or more, then there is a 30% tax deducted from the win which then goes to the IRS ?????

Anyone ever won more than that in a single game and had problems cashing out ??? (on slots for instance...)
