hi everyone , im booked to go in oct with the missus we have never been , were staying at planet hollywood , we are reading good and bad things about it , has anyone had experience of it.
    thanks paul

Paul, to add to what the seasoned regulars on here have said; the OH and I went to Vegas (my first time) last year. We spent 7 nights at Planet Hollywood, and you will have no problems there at all. Even the basic rooms are comfortable; we're not talking Premier Inn or Travel Lodges at all! You won't have any cause for complaint.

The beds were v comfortable (we had 2 in our room), the bathroom was massive and we had a very nice view of Bellagio (we tipped $20 at check in - if you look on the first page of this thread there's a couple of links to the $20 trick).

One thing I will say is to take some Bounce sheets with you - I suffered terribly with static shocks there and the guys on here have said that carrying a tumble dryer sheet in your pocket helps with this.

The food outlets there are fantastic and you won't go hungry at all- there's so much choice. Be prepared to walk a fair bit but that goes for Vegas full stop!!

Ah, wasn't sure I'd posted it on here and thought I'd maybe forgotten when I posted it elsewhere.

Sounds like you did the same thing I did. Saw a new promo, but didn't check it out as you were happy with the one you had booked.

I did the same thing with MGM. Saw the promo ages ago, but didn't check until yesterday as I was happy with the one I'd booked. However when I did check I'm actually $84 better off with the new one.

Must remember to click through ALL promos to check the total and not just glance at them.
Yeah I wont be making that mistake again mental note has been made haha!

I'm so excited now I cant bloomin wait. :)

Does it work, I would be amazed if it does. I get static everywhere in Vegas, I am scared to touch anything metal, you can hear the ZAP I get a mile off

the dryer sheet thing does work...reducing static is one of the purposes of dryer sheets, so it makes sense. I got my husband one of these:

    http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=anti+static+bag+stamping&hl=en

And he carries it in his pocket and it helps too...I think touching it occasionally and before touching metal helps - not sure if just having it or a dryer sheet on your person does.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

On the advice of folks on this thread, finally booked a car for our April trip through carhire3000 for just under £20 per day. Picking up in San Francisco and dropping off 12 days later at Las Vegas airport. No one-way fee - I had them write that on the confirmation, just to be sure! They were the best price we could find, so thanks, guys.

those of you going to the states after may/june time, crown currency still have $$$ at 1.7699 on their cancelled orders section. ive just ordered $900 for delivery in may, was a bit of a nugget as i ordered the bulk of our cash at their standard advance rate of 1.675, still better than high street but could have got another $180 if i had of realised!

Also, our MGM Grand booking had gone down byt $40 for the same dates in june, 5 nights in a celeb spa suite is now $600 so if anyone else has made bookings under the same promo (the 222 promo) it may be worth having another look.

I think we might have decided on where we are going to stay......

The first six nights at Imperial Palace (because it's so cheap) and the last four nights at MGM Grand (because my hubby would really like to stay there).

I'm not allowed to post a link yet but I've found an offer for MGM Grand using this code: MGM035 Could any of you Vegas experts be kind enough to check it out, please and tell me if it is a good deal or whether you know of a better one.1)

    MGM GRAND
    PLAY CRAZY 8'S
    MGM035
    BOOK THRU DECEMBER 2010

    FOR ALL

haha, not quite, i usually pay our hotel bills in cash rather than put them on the credit card, the rest goes on shoes for the missus although im tempted to stick it all on red as soon as we get there
