AprilThe Buffet ( so many bad reports i have never even considered it)
We actually had the Excaliber buffet twice - both times for breakfast, and not since about 2003...for breakfast it was fine, though the set up is completely stupid and may be worth avoiding just for that let alone the poor reviews. Unless they have changed it, you pay, and then immediately get to the food...so you get a plate, get your food, THEN wait to be seated...standing there with your food getting cold. And if you go back for anything else, you really feel like you're cutting in front of the new people just paying. It's stupid.
I don't think Excalibur is as bad as some people say - though we haven't stayed there in years, we used to regularly and it was fine. It's not great, we've moved on from there...but it's not that bad. I do think if we stayed there again we would try to go for one of the widescreen rooms as they're newer and I'd imagine that the non-renovated rooms are getting pretty worn.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MayWe stayed in a widescreen room at the Excalibur in September, which is supposed to be one of their better rooms, and I wasn't impressed. It was very brown and drab.0

MaySomeone was asking about eateries near the Wynn/Encore. There is Maggiano's at the Fashion Show Mall across the road.
We also had a Prixe Fixe menu at Switch at the Encore which was about $60pp and was very nice. I think it now includes a glass of champagne, or at least it did last time I looked.0 -

My colleague's husband is going to Vegas next month for a conference (lucky git!) and has been booked in at the Excalibur. I asked if he could stay anywhere else, and apparently not.
He's asked me for advise but not having stayed there before, I don't know what to tell him. I remember something in the threads about the widescreen rooms - are they the good ones? Is there anything else i can tell him to avoid when staying there?
Thanks!
The rooms are in two towers. Tower 2 is the one that has been re-furbished. These rooms have widescreen TVs.The Buffet ( so many bad reports i have never even considered it)

We paid, were seated, then went to get food so I think the way it is organised has changed.
We didn't think it was as bad as some of the comments I'd read. If we go again I'd try and stay somewhere more central though. We stayed in a widescreen room at the Excalibur in September, which is supposed to be one of their better rooms, and I wasn't impressed. It was very brown and drab.
We stayed in Tower 1, it was a bit dated looking (no shades of brown though), but we'd picked that as we wanted a view (had a great view of the Luxor/Mandalay Bay/ Airport with mountains behind) and the only rooms available in Tower 2 were facing the inside of the 'L'.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Thanks guys. I shall copy and paste the comments and email it to him. Widescreen, tower 2 - got it
We used to walk through Excalibur in the morning the last time I was there (stayed at MB) and I just remember the queue for the buffet being insanely long. I don't think he's he kind of guy who would have the patience for that, so I'll tell him to think about elsewhere.
EDIT - there is a website that tells you the best rooms isn't there? I don't think I bookmarked it0 -
October , NovemberBit of a weird one here but - does anyone know of any places to eat on/around the strip that specialise in gluten free food? Or atleast have any gluten free options on their menu?

October , NovemberThe funny thing is that from what you've said about Tracy and the photos you've posted, I don't think she and I could possibly be more different...but somehow I think I'd really like her...heels and all.
Me too.
