I'm heading to Vegas for 3 nights in June as part of a surpise honeymoon that I'm arranging for my wife to be.

Not really sure where to stay in Vegas. I want somewhere posh, centrally located that will leave a lasting memory (and impress her!). A big bubbly bath would be excellent.

I've been thinking about the Bellagio, but only really because I'd heard of it and the fountains, but I've now just seen a good offer on the MGM Grand for about $275 for the 3 nights in a Celebrity Suite, with free buffets etc (222 offer).

I'd be happy to pay up to £100 a night for something special, but would also like to save as much as possible to spend elsewhere on the trip if possible.

Have I any chance of a £100 a night Suite (or room with posh bath!) at the Bellagio?

Would a suite in a 4 star place be better than a normal room in a 5 star place? What's the location of the MGM Grand like?

Sorry for all the questions, and I know there's not a perfect answer, but any pointers would be appreciated.

Advice on ways to explore the Grand Canyon would also be good, I fancy doing it either by chopper or white water rafting through it. Both seems pricey though?

Are they the sorts of things thats best to book ahead or buy when I get there?

The Palace Tower rooms at Caesars Palace are quite nice and have a jacuzzi bath. Haven't seen any offers for them lately and the Hot Deals rate for w/c 21 June are just on your budget at $160.

Which dates in June are you looking at as Sun-Thurs is much cheaper than Friday and Saturday?

The Junior Suite we had at the Signature had a jacuzzi bath. There are often offers, but remember the $20/night resort fee.

I'm not sure the Celebrity Spa Suite would have the wow factor you are looking for as it appears they are in need of/getting renovation.

The Encore doesn't have a jacuzzi bath, but the rooms are definitely WOW.

Right, I have our flights booked and even though we have a change of flights twice each way, I'm happy with the price of £364 each from Manchester. As I stated in a previous post, we are on a tight budget for this trip but in a moment of madness, when I booked the flights, I booked for 10 days instead of the intended 7. (Well, it was the same price and I wanted value for money, didn't I?)

This means we may have no other option than to stay at the Imperial Palace as it seems to be so much cheaper than any other hotel on the strip. I've read reviews, which seem to be mixed - some say it is OK, others say it is awful. What I need to know is, what is it really like? I don't mind basic, as long as it is clean and reasonably comfortable - after all, I'm used to having breaks at Butlins and holidays in Turkey so I can't imagine anywhere less basic than that.

It is OK and if you can get it for around $30 a night it is fantastic, It is better than a travelodge and butlins.

the pool isnt great though and from memory ( it was 10 years ago)is in the shade a lot as it is surrounded by the towers.

All hotels on the strip are of a good standard, just some much better than others Have a look at some pics here

This isn't basic by Butlin's/Turkey standards. This is basic by VEGAS standards!

It's a bit better than a 3* hotel in Spain or Turkey. The room is much bigger and has a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. One king or 2 queens beds (6 foot or 5 foot wide).

The bathroom is a bit worn, but both it and the room are very clean.

Make sure you get a deluxe room and not a standard or Capri room. There is only one floor of standard rooms anyway.

Any specific questions just ask. We've stayed there 8 times and had no complaints.

If the same airline books you through they have a system that tells them how long to leave between connections. As said before, if you miss it then they will endever to put you on the next available flight, be it theirs or another airline. they really are a different kettle of fish these U.S. airlines, they all seem to mash together.
You can always try the extra legroom toilet seat tretts discovered on your retun flight to get some sleep

everyone was asleep there were four toilets there at the back , only ever 1 maybe 2 in use at use at one time . nobody ever had to queue or wait for a toilet ( you could count people going in and out ) , i sat through 4 series of Ricky Gervais Podcasts and X2 200 line games of Tetris on the DS with my feet up and never got disturbed once . Plus Mrs Trets got 2 seats to stretch out in . thats Virgin Premium Economy MSE style :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Depends where you normally stay
I'd do IP first rather than stay somewhere nicer and then "drop"
Have you considered doing something slightly different and instead of compromising on strip make those few days slightly different by staying off strip ?
Orleans is really cheap-rooms are huge , very clean and the hotel has a huge choice of eating places all with far better prices than the Strip. I like their rooms better than IP and their free shuttle is excellent. Pool is nice too.
If you have a Coast player card you should be able to get a good deal (even without prices are good and they match without hassle if you find a cheaper deal with any of the on-line hotel places-I've matched 3 or 4 times on a single stay in the past as the price kept falling)

It does take about a week to be released though after you have checked out

Or two if you don't bank with one of the big four !

Hi Good People. Can I just ask some of about the amount of time you have to allow between change over flights in the US. we're looking at manchester to vegas via Philadelphia. the flight i was looking at has just 1hour 50 outbound and 1 hour 20 inbound,

That should be more than enough time. I've done a connection in Chicago with only 40 minutes that involved a terminal change and made it (huge delay leaving the UK!) and that's a big, busy airport.

If you're still a bit worried have a look at the times of the next flights from Philadelphia with the airline to make sure if you missed it there will be another flight that day.

My colleague's husband is going to Vegas next month for a conference (lucky git!) and has been booked in at the Excalibur. I asked if he could stay anywhere else, and apparently not.

He's asked me for advise but not having stayed there before, I don't know what to tell him. I remember something in the threads about the widescreen rooms - are they the good ones? Is there anything else i can tell him to avoid when staying there?

    Thanks!

If it were you I presume you would choose Encore? Any particular reason? I see that the rooms are more impressive. What is the general feel of the hotel like - its the atmosphere of the Wynn that attracts me - is the Encore similar?

    Hi Steff -

The room was the big thing for us - it was really so great. The casino is smaller and more quiet - overall Encore is probably a bit more sedate than Wynn (though Wynn isn't necessarily rockin', either)...Plus because it's newer it's all nice and shiney and clean. And Wynn is a short walk away.

The only places we've eaten are the buffet as mentioned and Sugar and Ice (may it rest in peace)...I'm sure we'll try the pizza place they put in the Sugar and Ice spot one day, but I'm still sad - I really liked that place...and would probably never have tried it if I hadn't heard about it here.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
