    March
I managed to miss three out of my four flights in December and even though I was on two seperate tickets both Delta and AA took it all in their stride and just rebooked me on the next available.

Going out wasn't my fault my transatlantic flight was late getting in-so I missed my connection -got to Vegas 2 hours late. There were no more AA flights from LAX to LAS so they put me on United instead. Coming back was entirely my fault as I didn't print my boarding pass and the machines were messed up and then security was a zoo. No charges and no fuss.

Hi Good People. Can I just ask some of about the amount of time you have to allow between change over flights in the US. we're looking at manchester to vegas via Philadelphia. the flight i was looking at has just 1hour 50 outbound and 1 hour 20 inbound,

also does anybody know if the tcx thomas cook flights still do the direct charter later in the year

i,ve connected in Philly Outbound and could have made it in that time . it all depends on Immigration , you might breeze through in 10 mins or you might be stuck in a queue for a hour . like others have said the Airline ( i assume US Airways ) will just stick you on the next flight to Vegas if you miss it . they are obliged to get you to your destination . returning should not be issue as you just move planes ( no Immigration , customs , or collecting and re checking your bags )
My partner and I have decided to go to Vegas for the first time for a two week holiday. We can either go middle of Sept or middle of Oct but cannot decide which will be best. We want to have a few days by the pool but don't want it to be too scorching hot. Which month do people think is the better month to go?

Also we are trying to choose a hotel but they all seem fabulous. Which is your favourite hotel?

Would it be possible to do a poll to show peoples favourite hotels like the one at the start of this post or is there one that has been done already as I could not find one?

it is all down to personal taste . you might love somewhere that some people say they don't like . it is not possible to do a Poll like the current one for Hotels as there are so many and you are only allowed 10 choices in the MSE forum polls .

better idea is to have a hunt around and see what comes up as a good deal , then post back here for advice .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

If your flights are all part of the same ticket - ie its what the airline comes back with then its whats called a "Married Sector" by the airline, which means the airline is confident of the connection. Should you miss it, they will get you on the next flight.

Thomas Cook (TCX) are indeed operating the direct flights from Manchester, from 31st March through October 27th (may extend into November). The flight is only once a week for 2010 though.

Are you sure that is right, I have seen connections of 50 minutes, I cant believe the airline is confident of doing that. I am like Ferf and worry about missed connections so would want about 3 hours.

Found a cracking deal on expedia, flight + 5 nights at the Wynn for just under £600. However in the small print I see this information...

Offer not valid for any group bookings, conventions, or existing reservations. A valid credit card authorized to cover room and taxes, plus a $200 per night deposit for incidentals, must be presented upon check-in. Participants and their guests must be at least 21 years of age.

What is this $200 per night charge...and do I have to pay it? Do it get it back? Obviously, thats $1,000 extra on top of what I'm paying right?

Someone explain this to me....I feel silly for asking :(

    Hi chris,

Dont worry! They dont keep the $200 dollars per night.

What they do is "reserve" that money on your credit card to cover any charges you may make to your room in restaurants, bars etc. So, if you stay 5 nights they would "reserve" $1000 on your card - so that they know you have it I presume!!!
The first time we stayed at the Wynn this happened to us and I wasnt prepared for it. They also said that it was in case we "broke" anything in the room....

On check out you simply pay your bill and anything you have charged to your room. The "reserved" money ticketed on your credit card will then be released for you to spend again - simple!

Just make sure you have enough spare on your designated credit card!

BTW - the Wynn is an amazing hotel - deffo my fave.

and as mentioned on FatWallet, lets not forget that it seems the T&C's have changed for it:
One night deposit required at time of booking, this deposit is non-refundable.

this is slightly concerning, I hope it's not going to become habit (as per resort fee) that the first night is no longer refundable!!!...

(edit: incidently, it's just for that promotion that the above applies - its not a general rule of thumb for Planet Hollywood)

We liked Wynn quite a lot - but Encore blew us away...bigger and nicer rooms (but the same beds and bedding that made for the best night's sleep ever...I still want one of the pillows!)

    Morning ferf!

So - getting to the final stages of planning my trip in June/July and I have to now decide whether to stay at the Wynn or the Encore....... (Its a hard life ah?!). I have stayed at Wynn a few times now and adore the place.

If it were you I presume you would choose Encore? Any particular reason?
I see that the rooms are more impressive. What is the general feel of the hotel like - its the atmosphere of the Wynn that attracts me - is the Encore similar?

The price isnt really a factor - its only $20 per night more to stay at the Encore as opposed to Wynn.

    Anyone else have an opinion?

Finally, our two night treat at Wynn is for Fri 2/7/10 and Sat 3/7/10 - the US holiday weekend - I am thinking of waiting for a promotion from them as I have "Red Card" and got quite a few invites for reduced room rates last year (I posted them on here at the time - $149 / $199 over weekends) DO YOU THINK THEY WILL RELEASE DEALS FOR THIS WEEKEND WITH IT BEING INDEPENDENCE WEEKEND?

Anyone's help/opinion would be most welcome!

The Wynn is just the best place to stay. Stayed there a couple of years ago when it first opened and like everyone is saying the rooms, service and amenities are brilliant. The standard rooms are just huge, bigger then any standard rooms in other hotels, including Mirage, Bellagio, etc. Just be careful if you want cheaper eats, not much choice at the Wynn!!!

Completely agree - its a real treat to stay there.

Also agree about cheap eats - cheapest place for a sit down meal was the Terrace Point Cafe. Lovely food and atmosphere. I have heard it described as an "overprice cafe" - I can see where that comes from BUT I dont necessarily agree.

For cheap snacks/lunches, the Fashion Show Mall is literally across the road and their food court is not bad for standard quality fast food (not my first choice, but adequate).

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Wynn for a special occasion. I havent, as yet, stayed in the Encore though!!!

Ooh I would definately say stay at Encore! The rooms are much nicer in my opinion. I stayed at Encore in September and I just loved it! I believe as an Encore guest you can use the Wynn's pools etc, alongside Encore's pools, so that's also an added bonus! It really is beautiful, and the ambience is just as fabulous! Obviously you still get the in room video of Steve Wynn and his brilliant teeth talking about all the beautiful people and how exclusive the resort is so you wont be missing out on anything!
The fact that it was a little further down the strip didn't bother me one bit, it was worth it!
