Hi, No never been before this will be our first trip. I know it's off the strip but we dont really mind tbh.:)

Most people who have never been dont realise the distances involved with getting out of the hotel you are in and then walking to the next hotel never mind further along the strip.

I would def reconsider for your first trip (as others have said) and go for a more typical Vegas experience.

You could stay in Trump next time you go.

How easy is it to drive in Vegas we got a car for 2 weeks (going to San Fran, LA, Hollywood too) never driven on the right before, any tips people like to share?

I think the 3/4 lanes is putting me off :D

Had to smile at that, at the MGM, NYNY junction there are 7 lanes each side.

Seriously though, if you are a confident driver you wont have any problems (you may miss a junction on the interstates but thats not a major problem).

I am a confident driver and love driving over there.

My wife isnt so confident and WONT drive over there

Remember you can overtake on both sides, so dont change lanes without looking behind on both sides and right turn on red

I see trets says dont speed to much, have to agree with that as I got caught and they wanted over $400 fine, they reduced it to $175 ish in the end.

Another thing. Out of those 3 places Vegas is the easiest place to drive and difficult to get lost as there are so many landmarks.

LA I have been lost a few times, I dont use a sat nav, there is a lot of traffic so be prepared to get stuck in traffic a LOT.

SF, I havent driven as it is relatively small and parking is a problem

I did the drive down the twisty street in SF on leaving like everyone else has to, cant remember what it is called

    • Taking you Sat Nav with USA maps is a good idea
#cant reccomend sat nav enlough have driven both with and without and was so much easier knowing you can always find home at the touch of a button, plust the one provided by dollar had a great traffic dodgeing softwear that helped us out in LA

Has anyone else been having horredous problems using the new Harrah's reservations site?

Just spent nearly an hour having random pages, jerky slowness and general uselessness.

I eventually got the calendar for all the hotels, found lots of comps, tried to get a price for a week at Caesar's and it will only let me see one night at a time, which is no good if I want a week with comps in (2 nights will be charged). I don't want to phone as I'm just comparing at the moment.

It would let you go back to the old booking site last time I used it but the button has now disappeared.

Go in a different way - log into Total Rewards, click on reservations, select your dates (choose specific hotel or all LV)...that way seems to work fine. I never use the calendar view as I have always found it really annoying and until you select specific dates you don't really know what the total is likely to be. The screen you will get to this way will show you the total for each hotel, type of room, but you can click on them to see how they break down comped vs. nightly rate for each night.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Hi All
Just in the process of arranging our April visit ! We normally stay in a private villa rental but they have recently changed rental law so have to look for alternatives . Currently looking at Platinum and have found 7 nights , 7th April £584 (non-refundable) solitaire suite , would appreciate any feedback in terms of value/price ?
    Many thanks

I've been in all different ways, it's incredibly slow and jerky whichever way. Maybe it's just a bit dodgy at the moment or doesn't agree with my computer. It's not letting me change any of the details, number of people, check-out date etc however I do it. I'll try later this evening.

Just typical that I can see the comps but can't get at 'em though!

  • Regarding The Trump,

Stayed there in March this year on my 6th visit to Vegas, so some concrete facts for you.

It is NOT 10mins from the Strip. It is 5mins max to walk down the street to the Strip, which will bring you out opposite Wynn/Encore.
Alternatively, you can walk through Nordstrom and the Fashion Show Mall. Also, there is a free shuttle bus that operates on a loop between Trump and the end of the road (I believe it now goes down to Caesar's too) so if you're feeling lazy or you're in heels you can use this....unfrotunately we never discovered this until our last day!

The area that The Trump is in is COMPLETELY safe! I don't know why people who have never stayed there before are saying that it isn't. It is nowhere near the Sahara or Riviera... they are a good 10mis further on up the Strip.

The rooms are FABULOUS, best I've ever had in Vegas. Yes, there is no casino, but if this bothered you then you wouldn't be staying there would you? I really can't work out why so many people seem to hate the Trump, we found it great. Going back to Vegas next year, I would have rebooked to go there in a second but the wife wants to try The Cosmopolitan instead.

Don't worry about all the haters, you will have a great time at The Trump!
