is this well organized or just a bit sad? After reading about some non-shoppers getting some good bargains at the outlets, I've printed out the directory list and map of the 2 outlets in Vegas...gone through the directory and underlined the stores I'm interested in, then found them and marked them on the map of their respective centres.
I have never been to the one closer to downtown and am already annoyed that the 17 shops that interest me are spread pretty much evenly across the entire centre.Does anyone recall if the parking for this one is only in the parking garages shown on the map, or if there's parking around the centre in lots as well?
I have parked in the garage at the premium outlet a few times, never had a problem even when busy on a weekend. Got there at 10 last month and was very easy.
Go on the I 15 and off at Charlstown (I think) You can see the mall from the 15 it is literally less than a minute from getting off at the junction. Took me 10 minutes at most from MGM last month
I have seen queues to the garage in the middle of the afternoon when we have been coming out so I guess it does depend what time you plan on getting there
I wouldnt dream of taking the bus when I have a car in the hotel garage0 -
Thanks, we aren't big gamblers so the no-casino bit doesn't bother us in the slightest, neither does the location, i think thats what drew me to it.
When is the best time to book flights? and what sort of price is good for may?
Have you been before and know where Trump is?
If so Ignore my post but it is not in a great position, set back off the strip and at one end, if you ignore riviera/ sahara etc0 -

Hi, No never been before this will be our first trip. I know it's off the strip but we dont really mind tbh.:)0 -
First trippers I would recommend staying in a casino/on strip hotel. Its like Americans visiting London and staying in Kensal Green.
What features do you like in Trump?illegitimi non carborundum0 -
How easy is it to drive in Vegas we got a car for 2 weeks (going to San Fran, LA, Hollywood too) never driven on the right before, any tips people like to share?
I think the 3/4 lanes is putting me off0 -
When is the best time to book? Start checking flight prices as soon as they are available and look out for offers such as BA sales etc. I think you just need to book flights when you are happy with the price then dont check them again (or you will be gutted if you see them cheaper). Keep checking this forum for hotel deals nearer the time.
What is the best hotel for a Vegas virgin? I stayed in the Planet Hollywood hotel on my first trip and loved it, very central, lively hotel if you want to be in the action. But it depends what you are looking for. The new Cosmopolitan Hotel is opening in December 2010 across from Planet Hollywood. It looks very nice and is central strip.
Can anyone give me a guide on money? As others have said it varies from person to person. As a rough guide my fiance and I spent about £1,000 on our recent 10 night trip, with the exchange rate we got this worked out about $150 a day. We had all our meals out, good few drinks / cocktails a day, juice and snacks for the room, transport around Vegas, a show or attraction each day & my fiances trip to Hoover Dam. We used a couple of vouchers (2for1 etc) we found in guides when we were there, and 1 restuarant.com voucher, but apart from that we didnt have to watch our money and felt we did everything we wanted. On top of that we also had a seperate budget for shopping and the odd $ in the slot machines. Everyone is different though!
spot on on budget i find,
choice of hotel is personal, depends mainly on budget
something to conisder if its your first time is do you want to stay in a "classic" vegas hotel such as flamingo which has history or somewhere new...
budget is the biggest decider though0 -

another point is safety. although vegas is very safe, that part of the strip is the part where you can have problems, plus a taxi ride wheneveryou have to go anywhere#
wil admit though prices are good and rooms look lovely, watch the resort fee though0 -

Vegas easy . Strip does get gridlock though . LA is a tad tougher . SF a tad tougher a again . But still a cake walk compared to driving in London for example .- Tips : turn right on red is the thing you need to get used to . Rule is if you can do safely ( i.e no traffic or pedestrian) and there is no sign telling you other wise you can go through a red light to turn right ( would be like a left turn here) .
- simple rule so you can know which side to drive . Driver and steering wheel go in the middle of the road , front passenger nearest the kerb
- You will get Automatic car no question . don't waste time and effort trying to get a manual . If you have never driven a Automatic before , relax , they are SO easy . Foot on Brake , select drive or reverse , foot off brake and you will crawl forward ( or Back ) . push gas to go faster . thats it for driving . ignore 1, 2 ect unless driving up or down a mountain or steep hill . when stopped . put foot on brake , select P for park . pull handbrake , turn off the car . job done . cruise control will make perfect sense when you get a straight road that goes beyond the horizon . i once drove from New Hampshire to the middle of Maine without touching the Gas for 3 hours
- crossroads with flashing lights above : give way to any car already at the Crossroads .
- don't overtake stopped school buses with rear lights flashing
- don't speed too much . Don't get out of the car if a cop stops you , wait for them to come to you or follow instructions .
- don't pay for a car hire upgrade , if they don't have your class of car they have to upgrade you for free . check what fuel goes in before leaving rental place .
- Taking you Sat Nav with USA maps is a good idea
- lock your doors while driving in LA and SF ...always . if you get rear ended , make the driver follow you to well lit , busy public place as it may be a car jacking attempt. if anyone says there is something wrong with your car only pull over in a public place and don't get out of the car till they have F***ed off
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
