SeptemberWe have stayed there 4 times. In my view one of the top 3 places we have stayed, (the others being Four Seasons and Encore) . I hope you only booked a Solitaire suite because without fail we have been upgraded to a Princess without even asking!! Drop them an email and say you are staying for a week and would like to know if you can have a room with a washing machine. Go shopping to Walmart and get OJ and muffins, there is coffee and a machine in the room, then sit out on the balcony every morning and take in the new day with breakfast. They have a get together on a Wednesday night hosted by the manager with free drinks and nibbles.
OK, do you have a car? If so there is no self parking so you end up sparking out a couple of dollars each time you want your car out. You can not turn left out of the place so you have to drive away from the strip for a quarter mile to do a U turn. Don't forget to walk over to Ellis Island for the BBQ, it's only 30 seconds away!!!
If you do not have a car good luck with the taxis. No drivers go down Flamingo empty to pick up fares so you can be in for a pretty long wait even though the bell boy goes into the road with a neon torch to get one for you. The pool area will be empty and it is like a sauna on the deck. Plenty of towels and really comfy double sunbeds, but no bar service, you have to go into the restaurant and get someone if you want a drink.
If you are walking it is only 10 mins max to the strip up Flamingo, the area looks kinda like a dump but the drunks are harmless enough and they don't beg you for money.:D If you want to stay out of the sun hang a left into the sports book at Ballys half way up and go through there to get to Paris, Bellagio, PlanetAladinwood.
We will probably be staying there again in May if we can get a good deal.0 -
Hi all, I have been reading through your page for some time and been picking up some great tips for our next trip to Vegas. This will be booked for august 2011 and we are hoping to stay at the encore and get married in the Wynn. We have been to Vegas twice before and love the place. We have stayed at the planet Hollywood both times although the first time we went it was the Alladin although I believe had just been taken over. I have already got a quote for next august which I hope to use as the maximum cost with the aim to get this knocked down as much as possible. The quote was direct with virgin and for two people flying direct and staying in a panoramic suite is coming out at 2450! A few questions I have for you great people. How much do you think I could get this down to booking individually? Also the wedding plans on the wynn's website have set prices. Has anyone tried negotiating these and been successful? We want to get the best room and the best price price as do most but not sure if it's best to book a basic room and try the 20 dollar trick or bite the bullet and go for the room we really want?
it's too hard to say what you could get a stay for as there are too many factors .
sort the flight , the rest will follow . but you need to do your own homework and price up some flights . then you can use the links in post 1 to get a room , car hire ect ect .
a flight for around £400-£450 per person should be booked there and then as you ain't gonna save much on it , to risk the price shooting up .
which room . hard to say . see what offers come along after the flight then post back here .
people generally knock spots off a Virgin Holidays price , by doing the work ( i use that word loosely BTW ) for themselves and book stuff separate .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

AprilVirgin Reward Flights sale now on - only 25,000 miles for November/December.
We were looking at this today - we could get 25,000 + tax/fees (about £220) for March next year. 75,000 miles + tax/fees (about £320) for PE...considering it (PE booked without using miles was about £900 I think), though wary of March Madness so want to double check dates before committing.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
October , NovemberHi all,
Heading to Vegas soon and looking at various options for Grand Canyon tours etc.
We have found this: http://www.smartervegas.com/tours/air_plane/coupons.aspx
The cost works out at about $110 each when you add on taxes.
What sort of price have other people paid for these things? Also, is 'Papillon' a reputable outfit?
On a completely different note, our hotel says we get a 'complimentary' booklet full of coupons (at a cost of the resort fee) for various things when we check in. In anyones experience are these coupons ever worth the paper they are written on, or should we be looking at getting discount vouchers and booking things etc. online before we go to get better deals?

I have done the GC three times. The first time in 2000 was by plane. It was a good trip, with coach to the rim and a lunch thrown in. BUT, I found the plane very bumpy and made me travel sick.
This year and last I went with Maverick Helicopters - a fair bit more expensive (about £300) but far superior in many ways. Helicopter is a very smooth ride and much better views of the Hoover Dam, lake Mead and the Canyon. Well worth the extra if you can afford it. Mind you, the coach portion of the plane trip took you to the edge of the rim, which was impressive.
I have no doubt Papillon have got their act together, but Google Grand Canyon Helicopter crash. In 2003, poor maintenance and training etc.
Re vouchers - search through this site there are LOADS of options - Restaurant.com, Groupons, Tix4Tonight and on and on.
Have a great trip. The force is strong in this one!0 -

Thanks
I've never stayed in a hotel room in America that didn't have an iron and ironing board.
The FAQ on their website says:
Q. What type of amenities are included in your rooms?
A.
All of our rooms include the following amenities: Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards. Coffee makers are not included, however you may arrange for fresh coffee to be delivered to your room at a specified time by calling Room Service the night before. All accommodations offer High-Speed Internet access.
