Quick Question, I have just bought a restaurant.com voucher for Top of the World, paid $2 for a $25 voucher which is great. Do you need to book for the Top of The World restaurant or can you just turn up and wait?

I would definately make a reservation - you can do it online on their website...that way at least you know you'll get a table for the time you want. When we went there was no availability on the night we went (admittedly, Thanksgiving).

When we went it was recommended to us to book a table for 30 mins before sunset...that way we could see sunset, see the lights of the strip coming to life.

though looks like sunset will be about 6:15pm in 4 weeks time, so may be earlier than you'd like to eat.

Also, getting dressed up is not a chore...

It is if you hate dressing up...I don't have your wife's legs...for me a dress means tights/stockings. I am not wearing tights/stockings in Vegas heat...no way, no how. ;) I totally get that dressing for dinner is something that some people are really into, that it makes it more of an event and that's special for them...for me, dressing up = being uncomfortable and I don't like to be uncomfortable on holiday...so we avoid going to places with a strict dress code and go where we know we'll be OK as we are.

I have exactly 4 weeks and 5 days before I am no longer a Las Vegas virgin and I cannot wait!

Best to book , we have been twice and will be there again in a few days time, you can book on line, FYI there is a seperate check in and elevator for the restaurant so dont join the queue for the tower and do not pay for enterance.

    Whoops...just realised we're there during March Madness..

Now casting a favourable eye at the Platinum, especially liking the fact it's near Ellis Island, one of our faves.

On the plus side I managed to get our ESTA reissued at 11.30pm last night, so a fresh two year visa, thank you very much.:D

We looking for 1 night 19th Oct and all the midweek ones are normally $66-$119 but for some reason this date is $149, makes no sence :p

A brief visit, not sure if the Lion attack in the MGM has been posted on here?

here is a video link of it, trainer only needed a few stiches.

I hadn't heard about this...wow...I wonder if they will make any changes to the habitat as a result. There's a longer version of the video (with sound - you can hear slot machines, it's very odd!) here

Hi all, I went to Vegas in May for my birthday and absolutely loved it. I booked a package from heathrow, flying vua Houston, for about £1400., staying at the MGM grand. We are looking to go back next March for my hubby's 30th. I would really like to fly direct this time & can get a fight in the BA sale for £525 but the hotels seem so expensive fo March. Is it spring break or something? June hotels are quite cheap but the flights seem expensive. Anybody seen any good deals? Thanks ;0)

Can anyone who has flown from Manchester to Chicago- Vegas help us. We have only 1 hour 45 between flights and are worried that we not make the connection in time. When i booked it i was under the impression that we would not have to collect our baggage at Chicago but now it seems that we will have to.

Spring break and March Madness push prices up quite a lot and (obviously) Vegas is packed.

March Madness referencing the National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament. It may not sound like a lot, but it really is a big deal. As I mentioned a bit ago we are looking at flights in March and so last night I looked up the MM dates for 2011 to see if we could work out dates that did NOT put us in Vegas during the earlier rounds, at least.

    Opening round - 15th
    1st/2nd round - 17-20th March
    Regionals - 24-27th March
    Final 4 - 2nd to 4th of April

The earlier in the tournament it is the more crowds from what I've been told - because more people have the team they support still in the tournament.

Spring break varies by school...this gives an idea (though not sure it's yet been updated for 2011).
