I posted about Delta a few pages back. I like their flight from Gatwick to Atlanta. Internal flights can be a bit cramped and very busy.
Returning last week, our flight was delayed which meant we would have missed our connection, so they booked us onto the BA direct flight from LV
Anyone got any feedback about Delta to Detroit - both cattle and business please?illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Septemberhi guys
Just need a bit of advice from all you seasonsed vegas travellers.
My partner and i fly out to vegas on thursday, flights were only booked a couple of weeks ago but i wanted to ask - has anyone just turned up at one of the hotels and asked about their rates and got a good deal? I am debating whether to book something before we fly or just take a chance and negotiate a deal once we get there?
Thanks everyone!!go to the graze website and enter this code: 4LKM1R3B to get your first graze box free and the second half price!!0 -

Some people ask if it is better to find a hotel when you arrive , this is most defiantly not a good idea. besides the fact that you need to have your 1st nights stay booked up , to enter the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) , simply showing up at a casino without a booking will almost certainly mean you being charged "Rack Rate " for a room , which is pretty much the most you can end up paying.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchThere's really no point in not booking ahead of time as there are always deals-I find rates are usually best 2-3 months beforehand and in the month before go up again. That's a very general rule of thumb though-there will always be exceptions.
As if you book direct you can usually cancel at no charge if you find a better deal -it's just a case of booking something you are happy with......and then working on improving on it
Just taken a quick look on travelzoo.com (the US not UK site) 8th of September at Treasure Island is $40 -at those kind of prices I wouldn't take a chance on a walk up deal that probably won't work anyway. Save your gambling for the casinoI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks everyone!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
AprilI'm not really sure how it would work arriving without a hotel...even ignoring the API thing in not having a hotel/address to put down there or on the customs form...would you choose a random hotel you might like as a starting point and take a taxi there...then, if that doesn't work, haul the cases to the next hotel along...repeat until you're happy? I can't imagine doing that anywhere but I'm a planner by nature...but in Vegas, in the sort of heat that one might encounter and the overall uncertainty and potential distances involved (and the queues)...it seems to me you could potentially lose hours and gain a lot of blisters trying this.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

MarchI don't think turning up in Vegas without booking will save money, you would probably do better booking the room using your laptop in the lobby than walking up to check in.
Away from Vegas I have done better than the internet at Motels by negotiating with the check in clerk.0 -
On the issue of warmth in Vegas, almost everybody we talked to this year (we went Aug 25th - Sept 1st) said that July was ridiculously hot and a record month, yet August was surprisingly cold this year considering the previous month they had. The saturday, sunday and monday we were there it was probably in the mid-80's during the day with a really nice, relaxing cool breeze to boot and almost every American/Las Vegas native we met and talked to said that was 'cold' for them!
Really ? On the news they were saying how August was one of the hottest on record. I was there from 23rd aug until the 3rd sep and it never fell below 90 in the day and we didnt feel a cool breeze, more like a fan oven. It did cool down in the middle of our 10 days to the mid 90s but was forecast 107 again the day we left0
