I would second Mon Ami Gabi as we always have a good meal there. However there are more high end places, with prices to match.

I know everyone on here recommends Mon Ami Gabi but for a special meal I don't think its thats great. If you sit outside on the terrace (why go to sit inside, its a bit Cafe Rouge) you are right next to 10+lanes of traffic, next to the sidewalk where numerous drunks will lean over and look at your food, the chips are like potato flavoured toe nail clippings and the steak is only ok but not outstanding. Its ok to do once for the views of the fountains at the Bellagio but for a really special meal it is possible to eat at a high end place quite cheaply in Vegas if you choose a prix fixe menu etc. Remember, at more high end places the food isn't too expensive and its normally the wine that bumps up the cost.

I suppose it depends on what's "special" to each person...for some of us, high end places aren't appealing...if I can't wear what I'm wearing that day to dinner, I'm not interested. :)

Most have said that MAG is not fine dining or words to that effect...so if someone's looking for fine dining then they'lll know it's not the place for them.

As for drunks leaning over looking at your food - they must be pretty tall drunks!

    And I like the frites.

But the great thing about Vegas is there's something for everyone.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

hi thought i would update with the latest flight find lol!

fly from dublin to heathrow then fly direct to vegas for £378.70 per person - seen this on netflights and it leaves 10/11/10 returning 17/11/10

the total flight time is approx 14.5 hrs each way - i assume this includes the 2 hour wait between connecting flights

i tried continental airlines but i couldn't seem to find a time table for october/november (flying bfs to newark then to vegas)

this is the best price by around £25 quid so far and if we haven't found a better package deal by sunday we will check this flight price and hopefully get it booked!

has anyone flown this route before? from dub to heathrow then to vegas? i must admit im anxious about the flight being really cramped - from netflights it looked like the flights were BMI - i wonder does this mean the heathrow to vegas one aswell?! will maybe give them a ring to check that out

probably BMI to Heathrow then BA to Vegas, Expedia showing £374 per person

Didn't you find the fries were impossible to stay on a fork though! They are so annoying to eat.

And I agree, my next favourite place to eat is In N Out but even I couldn't recommend it for a special meal!

I too like the steak frites at MAG. The traffic and people walking past don't bother me in the slightest. I just like the relaxed atmosphere and their filet mignon with Merlot butter.

Speaking about fine dining, has anyone eaten at Alize? I am thinking of going there for my birthday in May.

remember these things can jump in price without notice . !!! as we always say if your happy with the flight ( who wouldn't be happy with paying a very good price of £378) , grab it and then don't check back .

the fuller the flight gets the higher the price gets, that £378 might be for only a few more seats !

once you flight is booked, thats it your are going . everything else can be done with that knowledge .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Sure, but then I just pick them up. I'm American...we don't have the same table manners as you folks over here do...frites with a fork?! That's crazy talk. :)

How much are you thinking of spending per person as this will influence what can be recommended?

For buffets we really like the Spice Market for breakfast, but not so much for dinner. The Wynn and Bellagio are both really nice, but among the most expensive. We also like Harrah's.

Ones to avoid - Circus Circus, the IP, Flamingo.
    I like the Flamingo buffet
