    Hi

I've not posted here since our trip to Vegas (for our wedding!) had to be cancelled back in April due to my dad tearing his Achilles tendon. We're now looking at going on the 26th Oct for 5 or 6 nights with Virgin.

I've been checking the costs pretty regularly and they appeared to shoot up after easter and have stayed up since then, but last weekend when I looked the adult guide for 6 nights at the Signature in the 1 bed suite was at £930 something. I didn't book at the time, then when I next looked the price had jumped by nearly £100 per adult, then again yesterday by another few quid. It's now at £1050 for 6 nights, £1012 for 5! The real cost of the price changes meant it went from just over £3000 for us and our two children to about £3450, which I think is a pretty large difference for 3 or 4 days!

We don't really do big holidays so I don't know if this sort of big price fluctuation in a short space of time is normal? I was hoping you veterans could advise me as to whether it's worth waiting a little longer to see if the prices drop again, or should I just cut and run?

Btw, I have read about the dodgy Virgin service to Vegas, but thanks to Tesco's this will be a free trip for flights and accomodation (apart from taxes), so I do have to go through them. Now I just have to budget for the wedding, the trips out, the shows and some gambling - no problem:D

ok, so I didn't include the 2 kids and didn't look up the Signatures policy on whether they are free or not under a certain age but with simply using the guestbook offer (and there are quite a few other ones out there, as well as using a 3rd party that quite a few people here use) I came up with....

As you are off to Vegas the first gamble is with Virgin. Just under 50% of the flights to/from Vegas use aircraft from the 2001 Italia deal that uses the crap Nova system. Just over 50% uses the better Odyssey system (more channels and loads of Nintendo games) fitted on the late 90's 744's and approx 3% of flights have used planes fitted with v:port (video on demand!). So while a lot of people complain about the flights to/from Gatwick there is a better than evens chance of getting a decent IFE! ........ the drink will probably still run out though!

    :D

I put a search on expedia and the price of £736 per room came up for 5 nights in junior suite and £729 in one bedroom suite. I put in for 2 adults and 2 children 10 and 15 years just to see what comes up. Are you sure that the prices you obtained were per person and not the room price?

I don't think v flyer (http://v-flyer.com) tells you which plane is going to be used on your flight next week, but its great for seeing which planes have been used on a particular route in the past and the airports trough which a particular plane has flown. Off the top of my head something like 6-8 different planes have flown the
Gatwick - LAS route in the fairly recent past.

Thanks for the updates Boa and sorry to see your week end so soon.

Thanks also for the info on KGB burgers as we too have a coupon and it's nice to have a review rather than going in blind. I wasn't sure I would use it, but probably will now.

I find this site facinating and spend far too long pouring over it. Unfortunately the info I keep looking for isn't there yet (Man-Las June 2011), I'll just have to patient. I'm itching to find out which plane they will be using and the configuration.
Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.
