We did the indirect flights with US Airways from Manchester last month, and i would happily do it again. Obviously it was money saving over a direct flight, but it really wasnt that bad.
Planes were in good shape, food was alright, staff were great.
We could have chosen a 1 hour 50 layover in PHL, but chose the 4 hour wait.
Weather was appaling in PHL so we were delayed landing, and there were a good few people stressing about the connection. We took it easy through immigration and such, and just had a wander. Time passed quick enough and we were on our way again. Similar coming home.
Its definitely worth it for the money saving, and as already mentioned, the travelling to Gatwick nearly cancels out the connection anyway!

Plus... straight off the plane and into a taxi in Vegas felt good!

Flying from Manchester in-direct would cost £1051.00 for us both (1 stop each way).

Just flew indirect from Manchester With AA on Sunday. We connected at JFK but you can also go through Chicago. A real breeze with 2.5 hours allowed for your connection, no need to change terminal - couldn't fault it. The price we paid was far less than we could get going through any scrapper site -we simply used the AA site!

another vote for changing at Chicago on AA - very easy, and with a Chili's in the terminal a good option to grab something to eat before the return flight. :)

We were die hard Virgin direct people but have easily converted to indirect...we would still prefer direct, but have found the indirect option to be much better than we expected.

    New code - FRESH - 70%

Also notice they now have the Top of The World in - but max $25 and you have to buy 2 entrees and dinner only - might sway me to try it just for the view

I was going to mention that - didn't think I'd seen TOTW on there before. Obviously the view would be great but I haven't heard great things about the food, and at something like $50 (at least!) per entree I'm not convinced it's worth it even with a restaurant.com cert. Has anyone here ever eaten there? Would be interested to know what you think, but I would imagine there are nicer places in Vegas to spend that kind of money on dinner?

    hi there

any tips on getting a good price at bellagio?
looking for one night (a wednesday in october). their website quotes me $249 plus tax for a deluxe lakeview room. expedia quotes £145. i guess i could call them up and ask them to match the expedia rate in order to book it direct, any other tips for a discount?!

    thanks!

It's been several years but we had dinner there one Thanksgiving - the view was stunning, the food was mediocre...we've had meals that were twice as good for less than half the price in Vegas.

Entrees aren't quite as expensive as you say though- http://www.menusearch.net/menus/718dinner.pdf but everything is a la carte.

It may be worth going for the experience and the view - and some people have had a decent meal there, so maybe the chefs are just inconsistent.

We ate at TOTW years ago (2005) but it was a good meal. OH has steak and I had seabass. It is expensive, but lovely. The service was great and the view obviously stunning. Glad to have eaten there at least once. Not sure I'd return as it's really a once-to-do kind of thing and with so much choice, it'll not really make top of my list again.

Just read a few of you advising someone not to fly Virgin direct from Gatwick..is it really that bad? Not that it matters now as our flights are booked but how bad could it be..or do I really want to hear the answers?lol

I know not many like it but if it makes you feel better we've flown Virgin direct twice and are going with them again in Sept I dont think its that bad (I think tangobunny chooses Virgin direct to) am sure you will be fine. I hate flying (travel sickness) so I just wanna get there as quick as possible an indirect flight is like my worse nighmare it makes me feel ill just thinking about taking off and landing twice in the same day haha plus we did miles + money so direct cost us £460 (we didnt think that was to bad I know others will disagree) I do understand others reasons for indirect though maybe if I wasnt such a drama queen we would do it!!! :)
