Thanks for that Trets, looks like flights could be the killer in terms of pricing.
£540 with one stop or £600 direct is currently the best I can find.
Just got to keep looking I suppose.
Just to add, that I have found that going for 9 days opposed to 7 or even 10, provides me with the best prices.
£475 one stop, or £590 direct.
If you are going for 9/ 10 days I would use def 2 hotels and poss 3. I have never stopped in just 1 hotel in all the times I have been.0 -
SeptemberIs there a policy for the use of Walkie Talkies in Vegas?
I've been trying to think how can I keep in touch with people cheaply without using my iPhone and getting stung with mega charges.
My thinking is this:
Buy International calling cards for calling home to the folks.
Use the Wi-Fi on the iPhone (in aeroplane mode) so can post to my friends on Facebook that I'm not rich yet.
Take my walkie talkies to keep track of where my girlfriend wonders off too.
Figured using walkie talkies would work out cheaper than buying a couple of pre paid phones just so my girlfriend and I could keep in touch if we wonder away from each other.
I was just wondering if anyone could think of any issue's with that?0 -
MarchNot an Iphone person but surely a prepaid sim bought in Walgreens on arrivial would do the trick. Mind you I got a prepaid phone with credit for something like $10 last year -but I really prefer carrying my own to a strange more bulky phone
I don't see walkie talkies working-they don't have the range you'd need. I'm guessing you/ve not been to Vegas before so don't realize how darn BIG the hotels areI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

This is my third time to Vegas, Its just last time my phone bill when I got home was well over £300 so I'm keen not to have to come home to that again :-).
It was mainly trying to keep track of my friend and the phone calls home where the damage was done. I wasn't very money savvy back then.
I don't think the range will be an issue. I don't see my girlfriend and I being miles apart, its more like for example go to one of the outlet centres and we decide to look at different stores we can contact each other when we are ready to meet up or she wants me to come and see this or if we just wonder away from each other in a casino.
Just figured since I have a pair of Walkie Talkies and going to be paying for Wi fi via the resort fee anyway and going to be using call cards to call home would I need to buy a phone to use for a 10 days?0 -
SeptemberSorry I know it has been asked before.
I have only just got round to joining Dollar express,(after 12 years) I now have my membership number.
How do I add that number or let Dollar know that I have booked through a 3rd partyThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
October , November8 lads will be travelling to Vegas soon, just wondering if anywhere in Vegas offers a 4 bed room at a decent price? At the mo, we're lookign at 4 rooms, two to a room. But obviously it would half the cost if we had two rooms, but I'm not aware of anywhere that has 4 adult beds!
Just a long shot...0 -
January , Februaryforget about the walkie talkies will not work inside,
Go to Fry's and buy a couple of cheap PAYG about $20 each and will do the trick0 -
Living in Newcastle, the plan would be to fly down to Heathrow. (Ive done this before and memory serves it cost £29 pp)
Then we would fly from Heathrow, either Direct or with one stop.
Then hopefully I will have picked a hotel by then
What about driving to Manchester and getting the new Virgin direct flight from there?illegitimi non carborundum0 -

Not necessarily. Additional 3rd and 4th person in a room is around $30-35 per person extra so you wouldn't be saving anything on a room which costs $60-70.
You would be better with 2 to a room if only because 4 sharing a bathroom could be a nightmare.0 -
MarchIts actually looking more likely we will be staying for 9/10 days which gives a bit more time!
Not really bothered about the age of the plane, as long as it gets us there!
Im on page 55 of this thread, all the info is giving me a headache.
There is so many Hotels, New York, The Rio, Ballys, The Flamingo.........how to choose!!!
Ideally the total cost wants to be under £2K, hotel/s and flights that is.
Im sure I will be back, asking opinions.
Considering im not going until April next year, I really cant wait!

Hey dannowd - I live just outside of Durham. We've gone in-direct from Glasgow a couple of time and connected in London a couple of times too. From Newcastle, you're looking at either flybe to Gatwick (and fly with Virgin) or BA to Heathrow (and fly BA). Obviously, other airlines are available from London too.
I found flybe so expensive and their luggage allowance was stingy, so you really have to watch the packing (think it was 20kg even though Virgin have us 25kg or 30kg's - might want to double check what it is today). At the same price, I'd personally choose BA. If Virgin was >£100 cheaper, I probably go with them.
As for hotels, that's a bit tougher. I remember my head spinning for the first trip (we ended up at Caesars). Most hotels are nothing like our hotels, so most will be very comfortable and much better value than what you'd find for the price in the uk. Decide on whether you think being around MGM, Treasure Island or Bellagio suits you, and then pick one of the hotels around that area. There's different things in all 3 main areas, so it really depends on what you plan to do there. For luxury, I'd go with Venetian, for a cheaper option, Ballys, but really you'll struggle to go too far wrong (assuming you avoid some of the hotels with "mixed" reviews i.e Circus Circus).Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
