dannodw, read Page 1 of this thread as it has all the information you could ever need, including whether to book a package or separately.

I am certainly hedging towards booking separately at the moment.

£1000 for the flights and £420 for a week in the Rio which seems quite cheap.... it is £920 for Caesars.

I know that the Rio isnt on the strip, but that wouldn't overly bother me. (Nothing is certain yet, Im just playing around).

In peoples experience, when is the best time to book?

Going in April 2011, is it best to book the flights now, or wait until ????????

The same with the Hotel. Reading through alot of the posts, I see that offer codes are often given out. Does this mean that booking the Hotel closer to the stay is a better option?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dannodw.

yes. keep a note of each ref number in case you lose the print off .

look at flights now . i think BA and Virgin have a sale on . anything £400-£450 book it there and then . you will very unlikely get a better a deal , and any better deal would only be a small saving . £500 is probably about the average . also look at the major US airlines . prices go up the fuller the plane gets , other than that there is no magic formula for knowing when the best price will appear for your dates .

flight booked ...your going !!! you can then cherry pick your hotel up to a week before you go . best deal for you might come along now , might not appear until a week before you fly .

It does not matter . as long as any thing you book is 100% refundable you have nothing to lose . we always suggest you book something that is a okay price early as Fallback , just in case some huge boxing match get put on your dates or something ( like the £ going into freefall against the $) .

what to do during the week . how long have you got ? try post 1 for some ideas .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

    why is Ceasars out ?

also i assume you have been using Trip Advisor to read things up , which is not always the greatest idea with regards to Vegas .

You assume right (lowers head in shame). I wanted to read about Aria at first but ended up scaring meself by reading horror story after horror story. Should have asked here first lol.
Ceasars is out because we have already stayed there. Everytime we go to Vegas we stay in a different hotel. So we won't be staying at Ceasars, Sahara, Rivieria *shudder* or Circus Circus, (which I thought was ok).
TBH I wanted to stay in Wynn last time, but DH had a phase were he read and watched everything to to with the Romans, so he won in regards to staying at Ceasars. I like Caesars, but it's my turn to choose :T. Looks like Wynn may edge it.
BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j

Thanks for that Trets, looks like flights could be the killer in terms of pricing.

£540 with one stop or £600 direct is currently the best I can find.

Just got to keep looking I suppose.

Just to add, that I have found that going for 9 days opposed to 7 or even 10, provides me with the best prices.

£475 one stop, or £590 direct.

    BA.

It just the thought of stopping really didnt appeal to my father.

£240 saving for the both of us is nice, but the overall travel time was something like 18 hours to 11 hours of the direct flight!

Wow, having just discovered this thread, I can tell I am going to have to spend quite a few hours reading through everything :)

Well, In April 2011 I, with my father will be going to Vegas for the first time.

This is a gift off my father to celebrate my 21st Birthday, nice eh!

(My sister did get taken to New York for her 16th to make it even though :D)

I was just looking into all of our options when I stumbled across this thread, and now I have even less idea than I did before!!

Typically I would have gone to either Virgin or Thomas Cook and booked a package holiday. Having looked at these for our dates already, a week long stay would be costing around £1000 per person, so £2k total (for flights and hotel stay anyway).

Now I don't know if I should book flights and hotels separately, in fact I dont know much :rotfl:

    * What Hotel to stay in (I was looking at Caesars but really dont know atm)

    * Do we fly direct or not (My father really would prefer too though)

    * Most importantly, what to do during the week!!

I will be looking over this thread, well probably for the next 8 months, until we actually go.

I look forward to all the advise people will be offering, and you never know, I may be able to provide some too.

    Thanks for now,

    dannodw.

Its actually looking more likely we will be staying for 9/10 days which gives a bit more time!

Not really bothered about the age of the plane, as long as it gets us there!

Im on page 55 of this thread, all the info is giving me a headache.

There is so many Hotels, New York, The Rio, Ballys, The Flamingo.........how to choose!!!

Ideally the total cost wants to be under £2K, hotel/s and flights that is.

Im sure I will be back, asking opinions.

Considering im not going until April next year, I really cant wait!

    Edit:

Living in Newcastle, the plan would be to fly down to Heathrow. (Ive done this before and memory serves it cost £29 pp)

Then we would fly from Heathrow, either Direct or with one stop.

Then hopefully I will have picked a hotel by then :)
