p.s just lookin into that bungalow deal - is the general concensous that they are good?

I think Luci has just stayed in a bungalow suite. I havent but dont think you would be disappointed, dont forget there is now a $10 a night resort fee apart from harrahs group nearly everywhere has them now.

The food is OK for airline food, better than some...though I once was served risotto (was told it was tortellini - I would never have selected risotto on a plane)...who tries to mass produce risotto for flights where it's going to be heated/steamed for awhile? Bad idea. It was inedible and I'll eat nearly anything if I'm hungry or bored enough. But otherwise it seems that there haven't been any tragedies, but nothing to sing about either. Alcohol is not free - so that's one thing Virgin would have over American I suppose. non-alcoholic drinks are free and they come around much more often than Virgin.

oh - and Virgin only serves their soft drinks - so the Virgin version of Coke and Diet Coke...which are horrid (I think).

We stayed in a Celebrity Spa Suite, but will be staying in a Bungalow suite next time. The only major difference I can see is that the CSS has a jacuzzi and the Bungalow has a regular bath.

We really liked the CSS as the room was massive with the sitting and bedroom areas separated by an armoire. The bathroom was big too with twin sinks. We really liked the extra space. Review HERE

We really liked AA. The food was fine, they were constantly round with drinks. Alcohol is payable, but that doesn't bother us as we only usually have wine with our meal. I think we only had 2 drinks when we flew with BA when it was free.

Don't be nervous about a solo trip - I've done several technically solo trips (meeting friends out there) . The odd of getting an upgrade if your plane is overbooked is much higher as a solo flyer and Vegas unlike most holiday destinations doesn't bat an eyelid that you are not travelling as part of a bigger unit. I'm off in August and my friend isn't arriving til the next day and I plan on having a totally selfish 24 hours before they arrive doing exactly what I want and enjoying the Me time before the madness of the trip itself kicks off when they arrive and we hook up with other friends who will be there.

jst wondering off hand if anyone knows the baggage allowance for continental, american airlines and air canada
i only want to know the free allowance that we wont be chanrged extra for, and also will it make a difference that we are most likely flying london to chicago then on to vegas - will the domestic allowance be less and then we'll get charged extra baggage for the internal flights? iykwim

If you live near Croydon don't forget the bus from Heathrow to East Croydon is only £1.20 with an Oyster. (also stops at places like Kingston and Sutton).

I really like the Minneapolis to Heathrow afternoon connection-nice timings and the transatlantic isn't usually full.

I much prefer indirect-I've booked the Virgin direct this next trip for the first time in several years and if I'm honest-I'm dreading it but I found a deal that for once made it so much cheaper I couldn't justify not using it. Had the flights cost the same with Delta or AA as the Virgin direct I'd have definitely chosen indirect for better seats, better service etc.

My routing is a little insane -I'm going to Gatwick-dropping my bags at left luggage (too early for twilight check in) and getting a Ryanair cheapie to Dublin -spending the day in Dublin with friends then my Vegas fare starts in Dublin with an Aer Lingus flight to Heathrow (although I'm hoping I can persuade them to let me standby on the Gatwick flight as it looks wide open). If I go to Heathrow I'll take the bus to Croydon and hop on the train to Gatwick and I have the Yotel booked for £42-which looks kind of fun. Next morning I'll get up -stroll to check in when it opens -then return back to the Yotel McD's brekkie in hand for a nice long shower and a bit of TV and free wi-fi before going through security for the Virgin flight.

Even with the Ryanair flight and the Yotel it's nearly £200 cheaper than the cheapest LON LAS for my dates. Coming back I'll obviously "miss" the Heathrow Dublin connection .

Bit of an adventure and obviously I'm praying for no more volcanic clouds over Ireland but I'm treating the day in Dublin as an extra bit of holiday and the chance for a nice girlie lunch.

Virgin no longer serve their Virgin Cola on board, unless they have some old stock to use up. They now have proper Pepsi & Diet Pepsi, and the pretzels are back...:T

AA is one bag at 23kgs plus 18kgs hand baggage. You will need to check the airlines' own websites for the other ones.

If it is all booked on one ticket then you get the transatlantic allowance on the domestic leg, but not it each flight was booked separately.
