    Hiya,

    My parents are off to Vegas for the 1st time in August. They are thinking of the Excaliber for the first 4 nights and then stratasphere for the last night before they fly to New York for few days! Is the Excaliber good? Also the Stratasphere says it includes unlimited tower admission, has anyone used this?

    Thanks.

    I like the Strat, rooms are good, and going up the tower is great, which as Ferf says is what you get for your unlimited access.

    But I dont think I would move for just one night, to much hassle.

    It will be sooooo hot, it maybe better to stay where they are or look at somewhere centre strip for the duration, ie Ballys, Flamingo, Harrahs that are all cheap

    I suggest maybe the last night they stay around downtown (Fremont Street) to experience the other LV

    That sounds like a better option than Stratosphere to me - with the heat factor which I hadn't even considered at least they would not have a long haul to get from place to place since everything downtown is so close together. Only downside might be if they find it to be disappointing after being on the strip - I think some people would, others wouldn't.

    Hi to everyone,

    I am looking to go to Las Vegas in October 2011, can anyone tell me when flights and hotel rooms become available.

    I have not been to vegas before but I was thinking maybe the NYNY, by the way I will be travelling from Manchester.

    Thanks

    flights 11 months in advance . £400 -£450 each should be booked there and then , little chance of a saving , and prices are known for shooting up .

    Hotels ? . well a year in advance is possible , but a better bet is to follow the advice in post 1 and book a fully refundable booking online then , keep you eyes open for better prices and better deals up to a week before you go . use the links in post 1 for hotels ect .

    you can of course ask our opinion on anything that takes your fancy .

    NYNY is nice place to stay , but don't limit your searching to it . plenty of comparable alternatives that might give a better deal for your dates .
    Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

    Long time lurker of this thread, infact I read it religiously before my trip to Vegas in December 2008.

    I have a bit of a premature question....

    Mayweather vs Pacquaio

    Should this fight ever go ahead, would I be right to assume that flight prices would most likely go up for those dates? Also, has anyone had success in getting fight tickets before?? I imagine it's quite difficult to do, not that we'd be shelling out for the good seats anyway.

    Anyone who has any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

    I went to Pac V Cotto last November & booked the trip the week before it was officially announced. I had heard on the grapevine that the date was agreed, so i took it upon myself to contact TopRank (Bob Arum was the promoter) for some advance advice. The lady i emailed said that the date was good & going to be announced within a week. Therefore i had the confidence to go ahead and book the trip.

    Regarding tickets, i emailed the same lady (She probably regretted giving me her address) and asked for a pricing structure and when they would be on sale. She was very helpful and obliged. She then told me to register on an advanced pre sale and that would give me access to a ticket sale 24hrs before the rest of Ticketmaster. Managed to get 5 tickets ...................... But i think Pac v Mayweather will be a total different story regarding tickets should the fight ever be agreed.

    I'm interested in going myself so if you hear anythng let me know.

    Cheers

    I haven't tried these but have just taken a look at them on line and doubt if I would be able to wear them, as I've never been able to get on with having that post thingy between my toes.

    I've been on the look out for Vegas shoes for a while now and today found a pair of Fit Flops without the toe posts - so more of just a sandal. Have never worn the brand before but if today is anything to go by - they're fabulous! very light in weight and absorbant soles and unlike most other dandals - the material doesn't rub anywhere. I would definately recommend them!

    my FlyFlots were really comfy but they never made it to Vegas - I wore them down to the pool on our stop before Vegas (I wasn't swimming but was hanging out with family who were) and got them wet and the lining of the insole pulled away enough to start rubbing on the bottoms of my feet...so I didn't even try wearing them in Vegas (in fact, I ended up binning them and buying a pair of Clarks Springers sandals to replace them and found them to be quite good too).

    The moral of the story is don't get FlyFlots wet!

    At last, I've managed to finish my trip report from my April honeymoon trip. It reflects a lazy 10 day trip to recover from the wedding excitement, staying at Bellagio and Encore. As we've visited Vegas a few times before, a lot of the expected tourist things are missing from this one......

    As it's quite big, you can view it here;

    There's also a few photos here including the rooms at each hotel;

    Enjoy!
