    This thread is enormous!

If I want to book a last minute flight and go to Vegas in a couple of days time - where is the best place to look? Are there still charter flights out of Manchester? I seem to remember them a few years back.

And to some of the people talking about poker - it's table stakes - if you have $100 and the other guy has $10,000 - the most he can win from you is $100 he can't 'bully you off the hand' - so it's just like you are playing against other players with $100. There is a certain strategy you should play when shortstacked which I won't go into here - but as this is a money saving forum I've got to recommend some of you guys don't play poker! :)

My guess is you will pay over the odds for the flight and for the hotel at such short notice

Just checked Harrahs friends and family rates and there are some cheap nights available next week

Looks like i will have to try pai gow now...
you can always give it a go here - free - no downloads:
http://www.ildado.com/free_pai_gow_poker.html (dont think you can do side bets though)

you can do side bets on this one, but it runs a bit slower on my machine ;)

Hi all you people of great knowledge! - what is the flamingo like??
    :D

I usually stay at the Flamingo. Partly for the location-partly because my friends stay there as we usually have plans to see Donny and Marie whilst we're there..........and because I can usually get the rooms comped even though I'm a low level gambler. :)

Deluxe rooms are OK but I think the Go rooms are worth the upgrade. I usually book a standard Go room and except for one time when I checked in very late have always got a free upgrade to a fountain view room without even asking or tipping. Beds are MUCH better in the Go rooms and you get a coffee maker which I like (and a fridge which I've never used).

Pool is really nice and the location is unbeatable. Food I've found to be not as good as some other hotels but not really an issue as it's so centrally located.

It isn't as huge as say MGM (to me that's an advantage-I don't want a hike before even getting to the Strip exit of the hotel.)

Looks like i will have to try pai gow now...I have only been to Vegas 8 times and the name has always put me off:eek:. I knew about the side bets as i do play 3 card and like you say you can win big, but of course you can go a lot of hands losing it as well.

Give it a go for a few hands and see how you get on. Remember thought it's Pai Gow Poker and not Pai Gow. Normal Pai Gow is played with these domino like pieces which does look confusing and I don't know how to play. We accidently sat down at one of these tables and wondered what was going on!

Before you get too carried away playing Pai Gow get a crib sheet and learn the most common standard hand splits to maximise your chances and also like BJ the house will play a standard way.
