Pretty sure you need to take out a 2-year contract to get one at that price.
EDIT: For those not aware, there's a new iPhone due out pretty soon so worth waiting a couple of weeks, just to see what price the older models drop to.
My bad - should have read it properly!
Brilliant trip report cloudy - you've made me really excited for September reading that.
I have a q on Stripburger vouchers - i have NEVER been able to get one, any tips on when they come on restaurant.com?0 -
MayYou may be lucky at the beginning of the month. I'm sure I read on TA that there were certs available in the early hours of the morning, but just for a couple of hours.
I've also been checking and haven't seen them available for the past 6-8 weeks, but I may have missed them.0 -
JuneThink you just have to be quick! We missed them for months then finally got one one early on the 1st May.0

JuneYou're welcome and yes, the extra space is definitely worth an extra $12 a night.
However, before you jump on that one, check the Twitter offer I posted last night on Page 221.
I got a rate of $75 for 4 nights on the VIP Suites offer which I was happy with, but on the Twitter offer it was only $56!!
Not sure where the Bungalow suites are located. I know the Celebrity Spa Suites are at the end of the hallway.
As for the $20 trick, tried it once at the MGM and failed so haven't wasted my time trying again.
We got a great room last time, 25th floor with a great view of the south strip and right along Flamingo.
I checked the twitter offer earlier and it was coming out quite a bit more expensive (22 June for 3 nights). I think I'll stick with the bungalow suite and just ask for a high floor strip view when I check in. No biggie if I don't get it.

Hi Daz,
I'm quite a keen poker player and played in various strip Casinos over the past couple of years (MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, PH, Mirage) and you certainly shouldn't feel intimidated playing in any of them.
I would guess that the poker rooms at Bellagio and the Venetian have more 'serious' players but generally speaking you're likely to find a mixed crowd of tourists (some who know what they're doing, some don't have a clue) and a few locals, but generally speaking the action is very soft.
I played a lot of $1/$2 cash games in the MGM and did very well there - the general level of play was very poor.
If you're entering any tournaments just make sure you pick the good value ones, i.e. with a good blind structure and without paying an extremely high rake. I've read a few times now that one of the daily tournaments at the Mirage is very good value.WestHamDaz wrote: »Good read Cloudy, nice one. We fly out on Tuesday and really looking forward to it.
Never played poker over in vegas, whats it like? I play a little bit here, just with mates down the pub. Whats the atmosphere like, are there any 'local' rules or quirks that players use that you should be aware of before you play?0 -

I managed to get one a few weeks ago, but only a $10 one. It was right at the beginning of May, I think it may well have been the 1st. The $25 were sold out though.0 -

At the moment there are some excellent rates for MGM rooms and suites ...except for weekends it appears (looking at when we are going next)..... thats when you may want to look at somewhere like .................

We played at TI, Caersers, Mirage and Mandalay Bay. Out of those, Mirage was my favourite and Mandalay Bay my worse. Mirage has sit n go's running all day so if you are not up for a tournament (which can sometimes go on a bit) then that is your best option. I would advise playing cash unless you have some serious money you can buy in with. If not, the players who do have the money will just be aggressive and bully you with their mountains of chips.
I personally didn't rate the Caersers room but I know other people do. I just didn't like the feel of it but that's just my opinion.
It may seem obvious but the higher end the hotel, the bigger the buy in for the tournament. I know the Bellagio's buy in's were around the $250 - $300 mark. All tournament buy in's also include an admin type fee which can be steep, but it's just part of the set up there.
Like Froggit mentioned, try not to string bet! I did it once by mistake not even realising and I was not allowed to make the bet. Keep your cards behind the line (you'll know what I mean) and again, keep them on the table. If you finish within a paying place, it's nice to tip the dealer. Ideally say what bet you are going to do before making it. Some people take it seriously and where sunglasses, but I just can't help but laugh.
The atmosphere can be quite serious at poker tourney's, but it just depends on the table. Sometimes people sit in silence studying the game really thinking about it, others are more light hearted. I lover poker though, so whether it's a serious table or not, I love it.
As for spilling drinks - I managed to spill my whole cosmopolitan over the table when playing at The Mirage. I was a little worse for wear and just knocked it accidently and it went everywhere. However, it was no big deal, the CW was soon there mopping it up and AFAIK there was no stain and we just carried on as normal after. Obviously if you keep doing it or do it on purpose they will not be happy.
Hopefully that has helped
Great report, glad you had a great time and that you are now a Vegas lover.
I liked the bit where you said you had to pinch youselves to make you believe you were actually there, it made me smile and I knew exactly what you meant.
What do you mean by the bit in bold ?
Sorry if it is just me but I dont understand what you mean
I have played a few cash games and the odd tourny with no success in Vegas.
I played a cash game in Bills and came up against a royal flush and the guy told me to fold, which i did, he picked up a decent bonus from the casino.
Might have to try Mirage sit n go this year as it has a couple of recomendations0 -
Hi all you people of great knowledge! - what is the flamingo like??
I love it.
Great rates with friends and family from about $35 a night. Great pool and great location.
You cant go wrong
As someone else says there are some great rates available at MGM as well, but IMO location of Flamingo is much better0
