That makes sense, flights were availablle then for around £300 leaving you about £40 to £50 per night for the room, or double that if you shared (making the room price expensive).

There wont be the same deals about as others have said average flight prices are now around £500

Mandalay bay is one hotel where I havent seen such great deals for (I payed $79 a night last year and ended up in THE Hotel)

Prices there seem to be more this year AND they have just added a resort fee of (I think) $15 a night

Is that for a deluxe room rather than a one bedroom suite? When do you go?

I hope you like it. It wouldn't suit everyone as you don't get the "staying in a casino" experience, but I thought it might suit when you said you were travelling with kids and weren't bothered about having a casino.

I would normally suggest first timers stay at a hotel on the strip.

We like the space that the one bedroom gives us, and there's only 2 of us. OH still says it was his favourite hotel this trip as he felt so comfortable there.

    Hi

It's the one bedroom suite. I have been before and stayed in Ballys (2000) and Harrahs last May. The casino bit really won't worry us at all - we'll walk through Caesers etc (no stopping for the 14 year old!:rotfl:). I have an idea that Mrs Boa won't be so keen on that side of things anyway - she'll want the shops and shows.

It'll be the first time in the USA for the rest of the crew, so comfortable is a definate plus especially for Mrs Boa. It's likely we'll do a pool afternoon at Flamingo, but we have a car and want to see Red Rock Canyon, the mountain etc. Also a helicopter trip the the Canyon. We would rather spend the money on these things than a room in a casino hotel.

We fly out on the 25 August for 7 nights - Gatwich Delta to Atlanta, but back via Minneapolis into Heathrow. Might see if I can change this while we're there as we live 20 minutes from Gatwick- but it isn't really a problem. The flights were a good price for August.

I'm glad I've booked now - one less thing to worry about - thanks again for the advice.
The force is strong in this one!

Sorry, I was a bit vague there, i have browsed the various pages, but just wanted an update on which websites to use and which are currently cheapest? Which website is best for booking flights alone?

no one website is always the cheapest . depends on your dates , choice of hotel , departure airport ect .

good old fashioned research and homework is the only way i'm afraid.

as a guide £400 - £450 is a reasonable price for a flight nowdays . i doubt very much you will be less than £400 .

hotels : research on your dates on as much and as often as you can . loads of good strip hotels , don't narrow it down to a few .

quite times : weeks after Rodeo and before Xmas in Dec . before CES in new year .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I have just recently noticed the $15 resort fee has been added at Mandaley Bay.We booked through e-bookers in December last year Paying £650 each for the 3 of us. That was for flights and 10 nights accomodation at MB hotel. The whole amount had to be paid in full at the time of booking, which i didn't mind, as I felt it was a good price.
We fly on 23rd August, does anyone think they will try and make us pay the resort fee at check-in.As we have completely paid in full back in december,I don't think they should be allowed to make us pay another $150.00......I may be English, but up here in Cumbria we take complaining very seriously........I do hope I don't have to make a scene at check-in.:)

Okay guys some great news to share . Me and Mrs Trets have just returned from the Hospital and are thrilled to announce that we are expecting our first child on 1st of December. today was our 12 week scan and everything showing okay so far .

Obviously trips to Las Vegas are not going be possible for the forseeable future , but i will still be a regular visitor here . i'm sure you will all understand if it's not quite so regular , and i have less advice and knowledge to impart .

I dont think you will have to pay it but dont quote me, My guess is they will ask for it when you check out (you can see your daily bill on the in room TV so you will know the first day if they have added it) but If I was you I would complain, they will prob then take it off. Of course they might not ask forit or add it on in the first place

You could always ring in advance and ask them.

We fly on the 23rd Aug to

Yeah trets, congrats to you and Mrs. trets:beer::beer::j
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    RE Mandalay Bay Resort Fee

We booked our stay at MB for June back in february this year. The following flyer was, and still is on their website and in their T&C's at the bottom states that the resort fee is not applicable to deals booked before 1st may 2010 so ive printed it out and will argue the toss with them if they try to charge us when we are there in a couple of weeks.
