What i have noticed is that prices seem to have shot up in the last 18 months? Is it still easiest to look on Expedia or is it now cheaper to book seperatly?

Are you sure? Theres a $109 Venetian offer a few pages back.......that used to be a $200 a night hotel minimum two or three years ago.

Also many other cheap offers, eg that $24 excalibur deal, Monty Carlo, Luxor $36 , IP etc etc.

Thanks for this - have signed up for the emails..

Some great deals for Excalibur or Circus Circus....

For a first timer to vegas.. would you recommend these?

    No.

With a slight proviso that if youre going with kids, theyre sorta OK, but neither are particularly great hotels.

ALthough you can get these for maybe $30 a night, you can get something much better for $50 a night......which is about £35 and still half the cost of a minging Travelodge with no bath and a room ten foot square.

Maybe Im being a bit harsh on Excalibur......Its fine for a lads trip, but not somewhere you go to and the missus opens the door and says WOW.......like mine did at Signature and Venetian.

Definitley! I paid £470 and £480 for MD and HRH when I last visited? I cant seem to find deals for the higher end strip for similar prices, i know prices are bound to have gone up but I am looking where i can find the cheapest deals?

The Excalibur Widescreen tower or widescreen deluxe rooms looked nice from the photos?

The widescreen rooms @ Excalibur were only refurbished in the last couple of years, i'd definitely give it a go and just see for yourself. Froggitt is right, it's certainly no Signature / Venetian but it really depends on whether you want to pay those prices or not.

I don't rate the casino there, and i'm not a pool person (not even sure what Excaliburs is like) but you're only a short (in vegas terms) journey from Luxor / Mandalay Bay (free monorail if you really want to save your legs), then you have NYNY + MGM in the other direction... i think there's also a free monorail from Monte Carlo up to City Center & Bellagio now... so plenty of other casino's to hang around in :)

and for the price i'd say it's a bargain...

Not many people on here have stayed @ Excalibur refurbished room but I thought Luci or PebblesMax have? See what they say :)

Hotel prices have come down a fair bit, flight prices have gone through the roof.

Venetian offer of $109 only lasted a few days ...waiting for it to re-appear!

What did you pay £470 for? The whole package? If so how many nights or was it just for the hotel.

There are some great hotel prices at mo, some of the cheapest I have seen for years..BUT as someone else said the flights are much more expensive.

If you want a very cheap hotel either of those are OK there is npothing wrong with the rooms in CC, I havent stayed at Excalibur.
My guess is those widescreen rooms are ok at Excalibur, i dont know what the pool is like but CC pool is rubbish.

It depends what you want (pool, location etc)and more importantly how much you want to pay. I usually budget about £40 (roughly $60 to $70 a night) and for that price you can do better than either of those.

MGM, Flamingo, Paris, Ballys to name a few

BUT if you only want to pay $24 or was it $29 a night( I would book a room at that price and then try for an upgrade at check in with my $20 in my hand) then I wouldnt put you off staying at the Excalibur

Hotel & Flight both times through Expedia, HRH was 2 years ago last week and i stayed at the Mandalay just under 14 months ago. even if its £100 more currently still worth every penny
