When youre buying two 5 day tickets for two people ($80), and you got $20 each way to/from airport ($40), I prefer to pick up a rental car at McCarron and drop it back at my way home.....what is it maybe £15-£20 a day?
Gives you the flexibility to go further away eg Hoover Dam, Primm, Premium Outlet Mall off Charleston, Walmart, Gun Store etc etc etc.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
AprilI completely agree - we always have a rental car, but now with the Ace we're considering using it too. I don't like to drive in the evenings in case I have a drink, so it's a decent option. And I think if we had a day or 5-day pass we would hop on and off and maybe end up somewhere we wouldn't have if we were walking at the time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Yes you can.
If you look at the fares on their site it mentions TVMs (I assume Ticket Vending Machine) and their route maps show locations of TVMs.

AprilI just noticed that the Ace goes to Town Square (maybe other buses go there too, I've never looked).
For a cinema for those without a car, it might be worth checking out as the Rave cinema is all DLP...if you haven't seen a movie in DLP, it's kind of like the difference between VHS and DVD the first time you saw a DVD.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Yes you can, make sure you have the correct money (or use a card) as they do not give change.
Also, the passes get validated immediately, so don't buy one if you won't be using it straight away.
EDIT: ferf beat me to it !0 -

It also goes right the way up to the LV Premium Outlets, another place most people without a car would not normally visit. I must say, I was really impressed with the ACE, as I absolutely hate the Deuce.
As you say, even makes the Strat a more viable place to stay as it's so easy to get to and from there.0 -

I wonder if the reason the ACE was so great is because it's new and not that many people know about it...it just seemed sooo much better than the Deuce (which I admit I have never taken, but I have beaten a Deuce in a bus vs pedestrian race several times)...I would be sad if next trip the ACE was also jam packed - but I suppose at least it will be faster!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

One thing I did notice is that most people using it seemed to be 'locals' rather than tourists. From MGM to Encore, apart from one night (Fri or Sat), it was taking around 15 minutes, which is great I think.0 -

Yeah, it took us no time to get from Wynn downtown - there were only a handful of people on it on our way down (probably about 4pm)...a bit busier on the way back but only really started to get full from Strat down.
I think for us - some days we just don't want to get the car out...and those days we tend to leave the hotel (normally Bally's) and head north for awhile (usually to Venetian) and then work our way back. If we throw in the option of a quick bus ride, we might mix that up a bit...we also might make a couple of trips downtown rather than none or one. If a 5-day pass is effectively the same price as 3 1-day passes, and since they aren't selling individual ride tickets anymore...we might just go for the 5-day pass next trip and see how we get on.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
once again you've all given invaluable advice!! my trip is really starting to take shape already. the tipping advice has been fab too - so much better to have an idea of whats expected, dont wanna short change people when its their income!
just wondering about this ACE bus thing - does it go to both the premium outlets and the las vegas outlet centre as on the website for the centres it says they do - but on the bus website it only names one of them as a stop iykwim?!
also thanks for the wedding advice, definately looks as if we left it too late to have a wedding here - which is no bad thing as ive looked into getting married in vegas and it seems more us!! just wondering if anyone has done one of the more daring wedding packages - we saw u can get married in a helicopter over the strip at night time and i thought that would be so much fun but not sure about what company to use or if it is really any good in reality?
has anyone done the indoor skydiving thing as it seems quite pricey even with the discount voucher. just wondering if its worth it?
and finally - i know there have been lots and lots of talk of restaurants and the best one etc and i have read lots but where shall we go (in your opinion) for a lovely wedding night meal-just us two, not high rollers prices but a nice meal we'll remember? and how far ahead will i have to book this?
thanks again guys
