Re money: we also used Crown Currency with no problems and a good rate. Wish I'd ordered more.
Credit card statement has just come in  and we were getting about $1.47 dollars to the pound on c/c transactions.

Tried using my debit card once (as I wanted to know if my son - no credit card - could use his when he goes later in the year). They added on a
£1-50 charge, so not a very good deal unless you're making a big purchase.

Did you use a Post office credit card or a Santander Zero and then a Zero Debit or Nationwide debit (not quite so good now)? They are the cards to use for the cheapest/free transactions

I just spent the whole day researching what hotel to stay at when I'm in Los Angeles. Found a radisson in the area we want to stay in and found they do a price match guarantee + 25% off if found advertised cheaper elsewhere. Expedia are which means I save £70!

My OH says I'm no longer moneysaving.. Just tight! :rotfl: Well I am a poor uni student earning a measley placement wage. I'm happy with that!

Sonds ok to me to be a poor student who gets to go to LA and LV AND stay at the Wynn!!

    - we stayed at the Mirage for our last night and got free tickets to Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden there (they sell at $15). Every single one of the tigers was sound asleep when we went in (4pm must be siesta time!) but there is also a dolphin pool and the dolphins were very lively. It's not a show as such but the trainers feed and 'train' them, so it is pretty entertaining. You can get up quite close to them too. I'm glad we went, but you could see it all in well under an hour.

We enjoyed the dolphins the most - we spent ages watching them, they were so fun and clever. I do think you could see it in under an hour, though we did spend longer than that due to the dolphins. I do think we spent more time there than Shark Reef too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

LA is one place we've used Priceline for and have beenvery happy with the results, but always did a lot of research to be sure we would be happy with any of those hotels that had been one before through Priceline.

If you're looking for a cheap deal in Las Vegas, now is the time to become a fan of the Sahara Hotel & Casino on Facebook and Twitter. The Las Vegas hotel is hosting Twitter and Facebook only specials exclusive to followers throughout the summer.

The deal: $1 room rates during random 24 hour periods starting in May.

The game: Sahara will give notice of the special offer only through its Twitter and Facebook accounts and will provide followers with a special reservation offer code and unique booking link.

The Sahara has been a permanent fixture in Las Vegas since the 1950s and offers 1,720 classically styled guestrooms and Las Vegas suites decorated in a Moroccan motif. Sahara hosts the popular $1 blackjack tables and Dollar Days, which includes $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, $1 shots (in a free souvenir glass). Room rates range from $27 to $300 depending on the time of year you visit and the room type you book, but it's hard to beat a $1 room rate in Sin City.

The only way to get the deal is to become on fan of Sahara Hotel & Casino on Twitter and Facebook.

I see the dollar is down to $1.46. Not good for anyone travelling or buying their currency soon.

Thanks for the Lion King ticket info Luci, we were going to buy tickets anyway, so will definitely take advantage of that.

US Airways. What are everyones experiences? We are travelling MAN - PHL - LAS next month. Are the departure times usually quite reliable? Or are there frequent delays?
And re the flight itself, how is the legroom? And do they give out blankets & pillows?

    Thanks :)
