It's just a shame they've stopped selling cancelled contracts for now :(

They actually haven't stopped selling cancelled contracts, it's just that they don't call them that now.

If you sign up for emails, they will email you with better rates than you get on their website. ;)

    2 of you ? no worries .

you only have to wait for the Patio ( you can book the indoors restaurant ) , and unless it's a mega busy weekend night it should be short wait .

book early say 7pm with the intention of sitting down at 8pm . they give you a table buzzer that reaches well into the casino (front of house will know how far ) . arrive at 7 , gamble a little , get a drink and explore Paris casino . you should be eating in good time wat pretty much the only place that has outside dining right on the strip . if a view of The Bellagio Fountains isn't romantic enough ...then what is .

it of course will not hurt to be very polite to front of house in a proper English accent and mention you just got married .;);)

don't feel shy about doing this , it's Expected .

    ^^^^^^

    What he said.

We normally book or turn up at MAG an hour before we expect to eat and have always been seated long before that. We turned up early one time at about 6pm and were seated on the pation right away.

It's not the most romantic restaurant and it's quite noisy with street traffic, etc, but the food is very good and I second the suggestion of the Filet Mignon with Merlot Butter.

If you want something a bit more romantic then Alize at the top of the Palms might fit the bill, but it will be much more expensive.

Im in the monority that just isnt fussed with MAG. We went there on recommendations from good friends who LOVE it, and all the reviews on this forum.

I had a pork dish and hubby a steak (cant remember what cut), and the whole meal/experience was just a bit "ok". Nothing really bad, but nothing that good or memorable.

I'd maybe built it up a bit much, and over expected. Price wise it is really responable.

Do you have a budget in mind for the meal?

Out of curiosity - did you sit inside or on the patio?

I agree that sometimes we read many reviews and have certain expectations that aren't met. Our first time at MAG we were walking by and decided to check the menu - we had always assumed it was a fancy, expensive place. we were really surprised by the prices and the fact that it's a place where casual attire is acceptable. We've always though the food was very good (we've been for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and have always loved the patio seating - we have never sat inside and I doubt we would since to us the patio is part of what makes it a great place.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks chap's, The OH has gone to bed now, but i'll make sure to show her the menu to MAG tomorrow :)
Regards to tipping to get a Patio seat straight away, how much would be a decent enough amount to give in order to sway them? Who would we have to tip, the reservation desk?
They will not take a tip, I already tried that one:D As ferf says we always used to just walk by presuming by the positioning of the place that it would be really fancy prices.
We always wander in there about 6pm and get seated on the patio straight away. Don't go till the shade has covered the patio as it can be a sun trap.
As for some not liking the place, you will always get a difference of opinion, we ate at The Country Club at Wynn on recommendation and it was the worst service and food I ever had in a "top" restaurant. But in a recent poll MAG was voted the top restaurant by visiters to LV
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

My partners Brother in Law is Casino Manager at South Point so any feed back you have on it would be gratefully received

What a coincidence! We did not gamble there, so not really any feedback that would interest the casino manager. South Point is a nice, large, modern building. Although large, it has a more homely, local feel to it than the places on the main Strip. Seemed to be plenty of locals. There are a good choice of restaurants, a 16-screen movie theatre and an impressive bowling alley. MUCH busier at the weekend.
It's on Las Vegas Boulevard but about 6 miles south of Madalay Bay (ok for us as we had a car). We went there for a few times for drink or to eat (Coronado Cafe and Don Vito's - both very good and a lot cheaper than the main Strip) and to see a film.
Overall impression favourable, though not as glitzy as some of the places on the Strip.

I think a day-by-day account of what we did would send everyone to sleep so I'll just summarise a few things that might be useful:

    - if you are lucky enough (:D) to be over 50, you can get 10% discount off at most shops in Premium Outlet on a Tuesday by getting the leaflet at the Customer Services desk. (other vouchers might of course work out better, but this was really useful for us).

    - Walmart has some good cheaper stuff too (there is one on Charleston, not far from the Premium Outlet by car).

    - our 2nd visit to the Strip (parked Imperial Palace and visited Venetian / Palazzo / Fashion Show Mall much more enjoyable and less tiring than our first visit).

    - we drove to the Grand Canyon South Rim and stayed overnight in a cabin at the rim. Definitely recommend you do this if you have time. Not as dear as the tours and you get to see the sun set and then rise over the Canyon, and you avoid the daytrippers. The size of it all blew us away!
Be aware it will be colder there (it was snowing when we arrived - a bit of a shock after the 90 degree heat of Vegas, but we did take some warm clothes thank goodness). The drive is long (a good 4 - 5 hours, and longer on the way back because of roadworks and traffic jams around the Hoover Dam) but was totally worth it for us.

Thanks for that,I spoke to him about it when I was over there a couple of weeks ago and he said that it is mainly frequented by locals rather than visitors....I didnt get to see the place as he was on vacation and didnt really want a busmans holiday. The whole place he says is like one big family, he has been there a long long time starting on the tables and working his way up,his daughter now works on the tables but has to do nights so that they arnt on shift together.

We stayed at the Encore last weekend.

Last time we were concerned about the noise from the nightclub I had read about on TA. I asked for a high floor away from the noise and we were allocated a room on the 63rd (top) floor at the far end of the corridor facing north.

They couldn't have put us any further away and we didn't hear a thing.

Last weekend I just asked for a south facing room on a high floor and got one on the 30th floor. Again we didn't hear a thing and the view was much better.

It's a great hotel. The rooms and casino are beautiful and like ferf, it was the comfiest bed I have ever slept in, until we came to the Aria that is and that is even more comfy which I didn't think was possible.

Who have you booked with, is it direct with the hotel and what rate per night did you get in dollars? Just asking so that we can maybe find a better rate before you go.

We've booked Encore at Wynn.. The cheapest I could find was £340 for 5 nights with Atlaschoice which is £68/ approx $102 per night incl taxes

Thank you all for being so helpful!

Hey - glad you got something sorted without too much fuss. I drive my DH mad with my comparoson spreadsheets etc!

I'm at Encore for the first time in June so I'll pass on any tips if there is anything you need to know!
