i love my gadgets as much as anyone and Virgins Vport stuff that is on demand was good and fun . But every film i have ever watched on IFE and half liked, i always had to rent it back home to see it properly . Take " There will be blood " for example , watched that over the Atlantic once but didn't feel like i had really seen it properly ( the Blu Ray of it is on my shelf and boy is it worth seeing it in Hi def sound and vision ) .

but with so many cool things you can take on planes to now i think IFE is as advanced as it will get .

i am very used to having to find things to pass the time for long periods , and reading is without doubt the best . but of course you can download audible books on your MP3 player now . you can have 2 DS's and play wirelessly against each other on the plane . you can have watch movies on your Ipod ( better quality than a scratched seat screen ) , or you could take your laptop and edit your holiday snaps in the air .

Yes maybe IFE should be expected , but is it really an issue if you have to make your own entertainment . for £415 you cannot expect the moon on a stick .

i think audiobooks are the way foreward for long haul

    A couple of questions;

I am going to Vegas in July for my honeymoon. Me and the missus would like to know if it is best to book excursions from home before we travel or wait until we arrive in Vegas? For example, the canyon trip we would like to do is the helicoptor trip that lands at the foot of the canyon from where you catch a boat for a short trip up the river. Is this a trip best left to booking when we get there?
Also, there are a number of shows we would like to see, but the figures we've been qouted seem steep. To see the Circ du soliel (sp) production of the Beatles "Love" or The Jersey Boys are priced at $150 per ticket.

    Thanks

Show tickets in Vegas are very expensive but its such an experience its worth it. I remember seeing Celine Dion and sitting there thinking I'm in Vegas watching Celine Dion WOW and my hubby said I beamed all the way through - thats what you work for imo.

Have a look at the websites listed on page 1, they often have discounted tickets. If you really want to see a particular show and would be gutted if you couldn't get tickets when you were there then book before you go. If you just generally want to see a show then you could wait till you get there.

i have never been, i have a question a few pages up here, where im planning a trip for next year, but my work mate here who went on her honeymoon tells me to DEF book the Grand Canyon helicopter trip before you go, cause its more expensive and can be very heavily booked when you get there,

Been once Piglet. It was in 2007 I think at the MGM Grand but the atmosphere lacked a certain something without all the drunkenness of the British crowds with it being so early to kick off (11am). It's been held at Mandalay Bay the last couple of years and them same problems beset it so it ends up being pretty dull. The tickets are cheap and freely available from the events box office so no need to purchase in advance - I heard stories of people being given free tickets in 2008 so that Sky wouldn't look stupid broadcasting the darts from a quiet, empty room.

    Cheers,

    Billy

thanks very much for that Billy, i was planning on taking my hubby as a surprise, maybe staying 5 / 6 days, and maybe trying to catch the first day and the last day of the darts, with the days in between at Grand Canyon, etc, etc,

i have been on the PDCs website and cant get information on dates when its going to be, is it always the 1st week of july, or does the dates change, or do u have any idea where i could find out, i would hope to book the holiday in Aug.this year if possible, i think that flights to USA are only bookable 330 days in advance (from Dublin, not sure if this is case from everywhere) thanks again

ps im ALWAYS up really early on holidays, afraid of missing something!! 11am isnt really an early start for me, so im happy enough with that time, though will seem odd watching darts at that hour! ;)

Cracking deal on at the moment with TI - I believe the rooms are non-refundable which may be the only drawback but I'm properly tempted - even though we've seen Mystere already. I'll use Luci's excellent template:

TI from $79, 2 x Mystere Tickets and 2 Buffet Dinners included

    Package Details:
Stay in the center of The Strip at Treasure Island resort for $79.95 per night and receive two tickets to "Mystere" by Cirque du Soleil. Guests will also receive two complimentary buffet dinners per stay.
This package saves $150 during the following dates:
    • $79.95: May 31; June 1; July 12-14; Aug. 22-26, 29-31
    • $89.95: May 26-27; June 2, 14-17, 21-21, 28-30; July 1, 6-8, 11, 15, 26-29; Aug. 1-5, 8-12, 15-19
    • All other dates are discounted 10% and include the "Mystere" tickets and buffets per stay.
Also available: Friday and Saturday nights are discounted and include the "Mystere" tickets with a three-night minimum stay.

    Code: MYTISB

I'm starting to get excited again for our Vegas trip. It's looking like I can get home from Spain tomorrow, so should be OK for Vegas in 13 days time.
