Thanks everyone for the replies, I was braced for the "You're an idiot not booking them for that price, book them now!"
Yep, I know I'm risk taking a huge gamble not booking the AA flights for £415 (which I've just checked and are still available) and I know I won't get them for that price again, regardless of the airline. I guess in today's day and age I figure that I should be able to expect decent in-flight entertainment on a trans-Atlantic flight. After all, I thought the Virgin Gatwick-Vegas 747 was perfectly fine (ok, not as good as the new Airbus plane plane on the Heathrow - LA route), but everyone else seems to be slating it.
I think I'll check again with my girlfriend when she's back tomorrow and see what she's thinks.
P.s. Good luck to everyone who's scheduled to be flying in the next few days, I really feel for you.
i love my gadgets as much as anyone and Virgins Vport stuff that is on demand was good and fun . But every film i have ever watched on IFE and half liked, i always had to rent it back home to see it properly . Take " There will be blood " for example , watched that over the Atlantic once but didn't feel like i had really seen it properly ( the Blu Ray of it is on my shelf and boy is it worth seeing it in Hi def sound and vision ) .
but with so many cool things you can take on planes to now i think IFE is as advanced as it will get .
i am very used to having to find things to pass the time for long periods , and reading is without doubt the best . but of course you can download audible books on your MP3 player now . you can have 2 DS's and play wirelessly against each other on the plane . you can have watch movies on your Ipod ( better quality than a scratched seat screen ) , or you could take your laptop and edit your holiday snaps in the air .
Yes maybe IFE should be expected , but is it really an issue if you have to make your own entertainment . for £415 you cannot expect the moon on a stick .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
