picked up our dollars from the post office today (weren't in when they tried to deliver on Thursday) and have to say I'm grateful to those of you who mentioned the cancelled contracts section at Crown Currency Exchange...$1.71 was a brilliant result for us - just wish now we would have ordered all of it - not 1/2. .:)

my colleague called Crown last week to enquire about this service, they said they no longer offer cancelled contract purchases as of end of February...

Indeed. I just with they would take the risk out of it by using a ring-fenced client funds account.

I agree and this is the first time we used them for that reason - it makes us nervous- but the rate was just good enough that we decided to go for it this time.

penny - I know that the cancelled contracts link now redirects straight back to the main page. Whether it will ever come back remains to be seen.

Just back from Vegas after a 18 day trip mainly in San Diego and Tucson.

Flight US air on time but wished I could have flown direct.
Airport Shuttle to Excalibur hopeless I should have picked my car up as it would have been much quicker.

Stayed at the Excalibur for a couple of nights got one of the upgraded rooms on the 27th floor good value and nice location but I know better than trying the food.

After my 2000 mile drive I returned to the South Point which I have always liked and this time I thought it was even better with their 50% off deal and free breakfast and lunch buffet in the fun book. The buffet had improved since my last visit and seemed popular with locals which is usually a good sign.

I did the obligatory walk down the strip but now the City Centre project is approaching completion I found it rather bland and more of an obstruction than anything else.

Got mine delivered today too. 1 day earlier than planned and excellent mix of notes (much better than getting mostly 100s) I also wish I had ordered more but no matter. Thanks again to Luci for the info

My only issue with the notes were so many $50s...they are meant to be bad luck for gambling...we've already decided we will change them into $20s straight away. :)

And with Crown, Ive always had nice new notes, not smelly old ones like you get at the greyhounds if you win.

Hello, long time lurker here. I love this thread and read it almost every day! I have been to Vegas once, quite a few years ago, and my h2b and I are going back for our honeymoon in July.
I would like to surprise him with a really nice room when we are there but I don't know where to start. He said he wants to be mid-strip, I know Bellagio is around that area (am I right?) but i thought you might be able to suggest which hotels to look at. I think i would like to have a room with a good view or lots of in room facilities (can you get things like plasma tvs or jacuzzis?), or both!!

We are going for 4 nights - i cant spend lots but dont want to be 'budget end' if you know what i mean. Where can I look and what should I look for? Thankyou!

You can't go wrong with The Mirage IMO, obviously just need to think about the resort fe, but they have fantastic renovated rooms, large plasmas and jacuzzis in their tower rooms, which you can always get with $20 at check in.

Thank you for all the comments. I think the budget is around £400-500 so that might rule out some of the 'grander' hotels. Mid-strip is definitely the requirement (so says h2b!), but I think he will want a nicer room with a jacuzzi rather than the view!

I looked at Caesars but I am a bit confused with all the room types. I've just looked up Aria and Vdara and I think Aria might be more in my price range! I will go and look at the suggestions you've all made, thankyou for your help so far.

    what dates in July?

July 10th...4 nights at Wynn through cityandshow is £263

Glad you are all happy with CCE. I am due to get mine in 2 weeks, but like you, it is always at the back of my mind that there is no protection for your money.

I hope that they have Cancelled Contracts again in the future as they give a much better rate. We locked in at $1.74 for half our expected cash spend.
