    hi
There are always loads of limos at the airport, there were 6 of us last time we went. We jumped in a limo at the airport. He was really good , 2 hotel stop offs and he picked us up for the way back. Think it cost about $70 each way, cheaper than a taxi.

Not sure about cheaper than a taxi (I know you would need 2 taxis for 6 people but $35 each taxi would be quite a lot - though it depends on what hotel)...and don't forget the tip for the driver. :)

  • Hello, long time lurker here. I love this thread and read it almost every day! I have been to Vegas once, quite a few years ago, and my h2b and I are going back for our honeymoon in July.
I would like to surprise him with a really nice room when we are there but I don't know where to start. He said he wants to be mid-strip, I know Bellagio is around that area (am I right?) but i thought you might be able to suggest which hotels to look at. I think i would like to have a room with a good view or lots of in room facilities (can you get things like plasma tvs or jacuzzis?), or both!!

We are going for 4 nights - i cant spend lots but dont want to be 'budget end' if you know what i mean. Where can I look and what should I look for? Thankyou!

Yes Bellagio is Mid strip . Planet Hollywood and Paris have views of the fountains if you are prepared to pay extra for the rooms that overlook it ( see how other Casino's leech off their rivals attractions ) .

Ballys rooms ( which were built long before the Bellagio ) have a limited view i believe .( Ferf will advise)

Plasma TV's and Hottubs in the room can all be easily obtained , The better the quality of casino and room within means things like Plasma's are standard , Hot tubs rooms are generally on request . but it depends on the room and the Casino .

like i tell everyone , don't get to hung up on being "Mid strip " there are plenty of good rooms and hotels south , and north ( upto Encore) strip . getting to mid strip from south / north is easy and you won't feel out of the action even at somewhere like Mandalay Bay

search the offer links ( which you can find in post 1 ) . see what comes out as good deal . the only way to do that is put your dates into as many offers as you can and compare prices.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Well, where to start, I know, give us an idea of what you want to spend a night on a room. Vegas has such great variety that someone will come up with something to suit your budget. TBH most mid strip hotels will have a great choice of in room amenities. For starters the Bellagio is over rated in my view, unless you get a lake view room, but we found the maid service lacking. My personal choice is the Forum Tower at Caesars for mid strip, or the "Go" rooms at the Flamingo, both entirely different to each other but the Go room has loads of gadgets, more of a Kitch feel. The only down side to the Forum tower is that all of the rooms at Caesars are at right angles to the strip, so you get a view either up or down, but not straight onto, if you know what I mean, but the rooms are top notch, and the maid service great (Tracy just loves the Gold chocolate coins they leave by the bed at turndown.)
Oh, and welcome to the board, you will love it here.:T
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

The bottom rooms of the better hotels all come with spa bath and usually a couple of plasmas as standard, eg Venetian, Signature.

The better rooms at the hotels the next level down generally do as well.

As mentionned previously, Bellagio, Caesars, Paris will all have great rooms with great views. Also you could try try Aria and Vdara for us!!!! Both meant to be very nice, and brand new.

But also no harm in going slightly further up the strip eg Venetian, Wynn.

I totally agree on the Bellagio comment (though our maid service was fine)...the fountain view was stunning but without that, I would have been disappointed and felt we overpaid. It is a nice hotel - it just didn't really do much for me.

At Caesars we've only ever stayed in a Palace Tower room and that was great - massive and nicely appointed, but with no view to speak of. I did think it was the Augustus Tower that stoneman and trets raved about before but think that the Forum Tower rooms are all newly renovated.

Unless the budget can't stretch beyond it, I wouldn't suggest Bally's in this case. There are some great views from the south tower but the rooms are very old. The north tower rooms are much nicer but not great views.

July is a relatively inexpensive month in general - as it's so hot a lot of people will stay away....but knowing what sort of budget you have would be helpful. Also, depending on how long you are going, perhaps you would split your trip between a mid-strip hotel and somewhere further north (like Wynn/Encore/Venetian) or south (like TheHotel or Signature).
