As for Phoenix itself, I reckon you need a reason to visit the place, whether its for sports spectating, or playing (Scottsdale golf for example), have a good reason to go, as the "centre" (copper square) is good for a few hours at most.
I was hoping to see Allison DuBois, but then she would be expecting me:rotfl:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

EDIT: If you do drive through the park, make sure you stop here for food www.whoanelliedeli.com
Just love the name of that place, and especially love this on the menu
    Wild Buffalo Meatloaf
Extra lean, prepared cowboy style with port wine au jus, garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables

Off to Vegas in September via New York, San Francisco and Yosemite. Just a few questions if I may.
    1. Has anybody drove from SF to Vegas via Yosemite and if so where would you recommend staying and how long did you take for the trip. My wife has said I have 2-3 days as she has no interest in the great outdoors.
2.Has anyone used holiday rental companies to book the signature or palms place. Specifically Jet luxury resorts and a service called Flipkey that Tripadvisor are using.
3.Has anyone driven from Vegas to Phoenix and back for a weekend break.

    Thanks

    1. Drove Vegas - Yosemite - SF a few years back. Vegas to Yosemite was a solid 8 hour drive (440 miles). Stopped at Best Western Yosemite Gateway. Loved the hotel and the town. Yosemite - SF was about 3 hours.

I see you asked about golf / shopping. Go to Palm Springs.
Golf in Palm Springs / Rancho Mirage / Indio is awesome.
There is also a couple of excellent outlet malls at Cabazon (20 miles from palm springs)

Have done that, stayed 2 nights in Yosemite here http://www.yosemitepark.com/Accommodations_YosemiteLodge.aspx absolutely fantastic as we had a view of the falls from our balcony. Booked direct so cant help with either of other 2 questions. Took in Sequoia nat park on way from Yosemite to Vegas the giant redwoods are amazing.

EDIT Reading Neilbonds above post, maybe we stopped another night nearer to Vegas after Sequoia nat park (cant remember)

    Hi All

Off to Vegas in April, last time was a stag week and only really got drunk and gambled, this time I'm going with the wife and have a few questions:

I like the idea of getting a limo to the strip from the airport, I know the journey is short but I want to travel in style, any suggestions? There are tons of companies that offer the service, and most seem reasonable price wise. We’d be looking for something super roomy for 4 people, not too bling.

Best place to get USD? The exchange rate is pretty terrible at the moment, and through high street type exchanges the rate is even lower. I want something like $3k, maybe a little more, is this enough to get a bit of a better rate?
I only saw two shows last time I went and both of these were paid for by someone else. Should I book now? What are the must see shows in vegas at the moment? Are the classic Penn & Teller, Cirque etc worth all the hype? Is this just a case of browsing through the Tix4tonite site linked in the OP of this thread?

Thanks for any help you can give. I’m not a frequent poster here, so I’ll do my best to answer any other queries I can.

Does anyone know of a place to get good, reasonably-priced sushi in Vegas? We're staying mid-strip, so somewhere near there would be ideal.

Hyakumi at Caesars is a great place to start and very central, I think they also offer an all-you-can eat deal during lunch for something like $35 which should be great value.

not much . people here have locked in future rates @ Crown Currency . i'm sure some helpful soul who has used them will advise

I recommend Presidential Limo, will use them again in August. Yes, its a short journey but we loved arriving in style, getting a tour of the strip and a visit to the sign. All worth, I thought.

Loved Penn and Teller, a fantastic show. You can meet them after the show too which is cool.
