I know that there's a bus service, but not sure how long that takes (edit - 75 mins, but they suggest to leave 3 hours between connections!).... might it be better to get the express train to Victoria (30min journey) & hop a cab to Paddington and get the Heathrow express train (21 min journey) from there? Thanks
What to do? Car hire = £40 lol
i took this bus late at night and it was 90 mins .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

We are getting a seven seater taxi for us all £75 - they said it would take 45 minutes. It was going to be an extra £400 to fly in and out of heathrow so bargain. We are leaving the car at heathrow the return journey...0 -

Not sure if it helps at all, but there's a local bus that goes from Victoria to Paddington...the 436...takes about 20 mins. But with luggage and all that I would probably take a taxi too.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberJust had this deal on FB if anyone is interested in the Tropicana

SeptemberOff to Vegas in September via New York, San Francisco and Yosemite. Just a few questions if I may.
1. Has anybody drove from SF to Vegas via Yosemite and if so where would you recommend staying and how long did you take for the trip. My wife has said I have 2-3 days as she has no interest in the great outdoors.
2.Has anyone used holiday rental companies to book the signature or palms place. Specifically Jet luxury resorts and a service called Flipkey that Tripadvisor are using.
3.Has anyone driven from Vegas to Phoenix and back for a weekend break.
Thanks

If anyone had any tips, i'd be really appreciate it
We are off to Vegas in June and need to get a one-way flight home on 5 June to London. These seem really expensive though, eg, one-ways on BA is £1,000. Are we allowed to buy a return flight (£500) and not use the outward portion of it? (We are flying in to NYC and going on to Vegas, but bought the nyc flight a while ago ...)
Thanks very much!0 -

Drove this route 18mths ago. SF to Yosemite (West entrance) is around 4 hours drive, and not too exciting (until close to Yosemite). For accommodation at Yosemite, check out www.yosemitebluebutterflyinn.com, very nice B&B about a mile outside the park.
As you are going in September, I would recommend you drive right through the park on the Tioga Pass (when you are leaving for LV). Also, I think you should try and fit in one night in Death Valley, it really is a special place, and it’s on-route to Vegas. Vegas is then about 3 hours from Death Valley, really easy driving.
Need any more info, send me a PM and I’ll give you a bit more detail.
EDIT: If you do drive through the park, make sure you stop here for food www.whoanelliedeli.com0 -

Don’t think that will work – when you fail to show for the ‘outbound’ leg, I’m pretty sure it will become void so the return will be cancelled.
What about booking a return flight from Vegas>UK>Vegas, then just not using the ‘return’ leg. That should be OK as once you get back to UK, you are OK.0 -

Yep, mainly to see the baseball if certain pitchers have been scheduled to pitch. Worst drive was from Palm Springs to Phoenix and back in the one day to watch Randy Johnson pitch in 2001 (about 270 miles each way), Vegas to Phoenix and back over a few days isn't too vexing (about 300 each way)
As for Phoenix itself, I reckon you need a reason to visit the place, whether its for sports spectating, or playing (Scottsdale golf for example), have a good reason to go, as the "centre" (copper square) is good for a few hours at most.0 -

The reason was golf but also shopping for my wife. Was looking at Phoenix or Palm Springs felt that both were close enough to drive to. Was at LA last year so not looking to go back there.0
